Emirates’ relationship with the International Cricket Council (ICC) dates back to 2002 when the airline signed a deal with international cricket’s governing body to sponsor the Emirates Elite Panels of Umpires and Match Referees.
Since then, Emirates’ standing has grown to that of Official Worldwide Partner and given the airline sponsorship rights to all major ICC tournaments, including the ICC Cricket World Cup, ICC Champions Trophy and ICC World Twenty20. Emirates’ partnership also extends to the ICC Cricket World Cup Qualifiers, ICC Under-19 World Cup, ICC Intercontinental Cup and the ICC Women's World Cup.
The 2015 edition of the ICC Cricket World Cup will be the 11th of the tournament and will be jointly hosted by New Zealand and Australia who were also the joint hosts in 1992.
Cricket forms an important part of Emirates’ sponsorship strategy. See also ICC Umpires, Durham County Cricket Club, Lancashire County Cricket Club, and the Emirates Airline Twenty20.
