Traveling to and from the United States

Electronic System for Travel Authorization (ESTA)

The Visa Waiver Program (VWP) allows eligible citizens or nationals of certain countries to travel to the United States for stays of 90 days or less without applying for a visa.

All VWP travelers are required to obtain an electronic travel authorization before traveling to the US by air or sea.

Applications can be submitted at any time before travel; however, it's recommended that applications be submitted no less than 72 hours prior to travel. In most cases, you'll receive a response within seconds.

In cases where authorization is denied, it's strongly recommended that a non-immigrant visa be obtained at a US Embassy or Consulate before arriving at the airport.

Fast-track screening

To provide customers with a seamless travel experience, we’ve joined with the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) to offer fast-track screening when flying from the United States, so you can speed through security without removing your shoes, laptops, liquids, belts, and light jackets.

The Department of Homeland security charges US$85 for the service, which covers a period of five years. In order to apply, customers must meet TSA security requirements. Once you have applied, the process will take two to three weeks.

Currently TSA Precheck preflight screening is available to our customers departing from the following US airports:

  • New York (JFK)
  • Houston (IAH)
  • Washington (IAD)
  • San Francisco (SFO)
  • Seattle (SEA)
  • Chicago (ORD)
  • Orlando (MCO)
  • Dallas (DFW)
  • Boston (BOS)

To apply or learn more about the service, please visit the TSA website (opens an external website in a new tab).

Note: It is your sole responsibility to obtain a visa where one is required; we accept no liability for your failure to do so. Please see our Terms & Conditions. Obtaining travel authorization doesn't guarantee entry into the US and is subject to immigration approval.
