Travel to Ghana

All arriving passengers must not have any symptoms suggestive of COVID-19, including body temperature > 38°C.

They must carry a negative COVID-19 PCR test result from an accredited laboratory in their country of origin. The test should have been done not more than 72 hours before the scheduled departure from the country of origin. For passengers who will be transiting through other countries before arriving in Ghana, the first country of departure will be the reference point. Passengers will not be allowed to travel without the valid negative COVID-19 PCR test result.

All passengers must fill out the Ghana Health Form online before arrival.

For Ghanaian residents who depart Ghana and return within one week, the passengers will not be required to present a negative COVID-19 PCR test result from the country of departure, but they will be subject to mandatory COVID-19 PCR testing upon arrival in Ghana (this is applicable for direct flights i.e. Accra-Dubai-Accra). However passengers connecting on Emirates flights (for e.g. Accra- Dubai – London and return) will be required to hold a PCR test certificate as per Dubai Government regulations.

All passengers must wear a face mask appropriately (extending from the middle of the nasal bridge to halfway between the chin and the neck) upon arrival.

All passengers will be subject to a mandatory COVID-19 PCR test at the airport terminal at the cost of USD 150 to be borne by the passenger. Payment can be made online here. Any passenger who is unable to pay online will be required to make payment on arrival for the test.

Any passenger who refuses to pay to undergo the COVID-19 PCR test will be subjected to the following:

  • Passenger’s passport will be seized, and passenger handed over to State Security Agencies.
  • Passenger will be taken into a fourteen (14) day quarantine at a designated location at the passenger’s cost.

Children below 5 years old will not be required to undergo testing at the airport.

Passengers arriving under emergency circumstances such as diverted flights will not be required to undergo testing if they do not leave the airport or if they remain in transit such that they do not leave the hotel.

All persons testing positive will receive further clinical assessment and treatment.

All persons testing negative will be advised to continue to observe COVID-19 safety precautions following their arrival in Ghana.

Transit Passengers

Passengers transiting and transferring through Accra will not be required to take the COVID-19 PCR test in Accra.

Transit passengers will be required to adhere to COVID-19 testing requirements for the destination countries.

Travel from Ghana

All passengers will be required to meet the following guidelines prior to departure:

Departing passengers are required to follow the COVID-19 testing requirements of their destination. Please note that all passengers travelling to Dubai, including passengers transiting through Dubai, except children 12 years old and below or passengers with moderate or severe disability must present a printed copy of a negative COVID-19 PCR test result certificate. The test should be conducted within 96 hours of departure.

Departing passengers must always wear a face mask appropriately and adhere to social distancing as well as hygiene protocols.

Departing passengers will undergo temperature screening at the entrance of Terminal 3 departures.

Only passengers and persons with business in the terminal will be allowed entry.

Online check-in or the use of self-service kiosks is strongly encouraged to reduce physical contact at the airport

Passengers are advised to arrive at the airport 4 hours before scheduled flights.

Travelling with Pets

Travelling with pets into Ghana is allowed in line with guidelines of the Veterinary Services Directorate of the Ministry of Food & Agriculture.
