Visa for travel to Guangzhou (CAN)

  • Foreign nationals holding visas or residence permits still valid effective from 00:00 local time, 28 March 2020, including APEC Business Travel Cards, are temporarily suspended entry into mainland China.
  • The following visa policies are suspended as well: 24/72/144-hour visa-free transit policy, Hainan 30-day visa-free policy, 15-day visa-free policy specified for foreign cruise/group tours through Shanghai Port, Guangdong 144-hour visa-free policy specified for foreign tour groups from Hong Kong or Macao SAR, and Guangxi 15-day visa-free policy specified for foreign tour groups of ASEAN countries.
  • Entry with diplomatic, service, courtesy or C visas will not be affected.
  • Entry by foreign nationals with visas/resident permits issued after this announcement will not be affected.
  • Foreign nationals with permanent residence cards (ZHONG GUO LV KA or China Green Cards) will not be affected.
  • Foreign nationals under the List of Agreements on Mutual Visa Exemption between the People’s Republic of China and Foreign Countries will not be affected.

COVID-19 prevention measures

All passengers must complete the China Customs Health Declaration Form via the China Customs app, WeChat app or online before check-in. At check-in, passengers must present the QR code as proof that they have submitted the personal health declaration form. Printed forms will not be accepted.

Please note that it is mandatory to update the seat number before or after check-in on the online China Customs health declaration form.

All passengers arriving in Guangzhou must undergo a Nucleic Acid Test (NAT) and a 14-day quarantine in designated facilities for medical observation at the passenger’s own expense.


Travel to China from Dubai

All passengers starting their journey from Dubai must comply with these requirements:

1. COVID-19 test

  • Passengers must present a negative nucleic acid test certificate for COVID-19 issued within 48 hours of departure.
  • The Chinese Embassy has designated SEHA – Abu Dhabi Health Services Company to carry out the test in SEHA locations across the UAE, as well as the facilities listed below. The test must be conducted in one of these locations.

    • Mediclinic City Hospital
    • Mediclinic Welcare Hospital
    • Mediclinic Dubai Mall
    • Mediclinic Al Sufouh
    • Mediclinic Arabian Ranches
    • Mediclinic Meadows

    • Mediclinic Al Qusais
    • Mediclinic Deira City Centre
    • Canadian Specialist Hospital

2. Health code apps

  • Chinese nationals must report their personal health condition and upload a negative COVID-19 nucleic acid test result through the WeChat Health Code app within 24 hours of the time the certificate is issued. A Green Health code with HS will be issued for passengers after review by the Chinese embassy. For further information on health code, kindly refer to the Chinese government site.
  • Non-Chinese nationals must fill in and sign the Health Declaration Form and send the following to the Chinese embassy (chinaemb.ae@gmail.com) or consulate general (chinaconsul_dubai@aliyun.com):
    • A scanned copy of the signed form
    • Nucleic acid test certificate
    • Photocopy of the bio-page of the passport
  • To expedite the process, kindly use the subject line “HS + Passenger name + Date of Departure”; for example: “HS + John Smith + 25 Aug 2020”.
  • A certified health document with a validity period of 5 days starting from the date of issue of the nucleic acid test certificate shall be issued via email by the Chinese embassy or the Chinese consulate general.
  • Please note that the certified health document is not an alternative to a Chinese visa.

Travel to China from other countries

All passengers starting their journey from countries other than the UAE must comply with the following requirements:

1. COVID-19 test

  • Passengers must present a negative nucleic acid COVID-19 test certificate issued within 72 hours of their departure date at check-in.

2. Health code apps

  • Passengers travelling from stations listed here need to apply for a Green Health code (HS) or Health Declaration Form from Chinese embassies or consulates in the relevant countries
  • Chinese nationals must report their personal health condition and upload a negative COVID-19 nucleic acid test result through the WeChat Health Code app within 24 hours of the time the certificate is issued. A Green Health code with HS will be issued for the passenger after review by the Chinese embassy. For further information, kindly refer to the Chinese government site.
  • Non-Chinese nationals must fill in and sign the Health Declaration Form and send the following to the Chinese embassy or consulate general:
    • A scanned copy of the signed form
    • Nucleic acid test certificate
    • Photocopy of the bio-page of the passport
  • For further information on applying for the health code, please refer to the relevant Chinese embassy or consulate general websites from the departure countries.
  • A certified health document with a validity period of 5 days starting from the date of issue of the nucleic acid test certificate will be issued via email by the Chinese embassy or the Chinese consulate general.
  • Please note that the certified health document is not an alternative to a Chinese visa.
