Flights from Sydney to Kathmandu

Sydney Kingsford Smith Airport is located 8km south of central Sydney and has several transport connections you can use ahead of your flight to Kathmandu.

There is an airport link train that takes just 13 minutes from the city centre, with services running roughly every 10 minutes. The train from Town Hall train station makes several stops throughout the city and its suburbs.

By car, the airport is approximately a 25-minute journey from the city centre in light traffic. Emirates flights depart from Terminal 1, which is on the western side of the airport and is accessible via Airport Drive. There are three large car parks that are a short walk from the terminal, as well as valet parking options so you can drop your car at the entrance.

Emirates First and Business Class passengers will have the option to book our complimentary Chauffeur-drive service to Sydney Airport. You’ll be picked up in a luxury car from anywhere within 80km – or further for an extra fee – and enjoy a comfortable start to your journey to Kathmandu.

Once you’ve arrived at Sydney Airport, First and Business Class passengers and Emirates Skywards Platinum or Gold members will have exclusive access to the Emirates Lounge. Located in Terminal 1, the lounge provides a stylish, quiet space to relax ahead of your flight to Kathmandu. You can pick from a fantastic selection of dishes and sip premium drinks, from mocktails and hot beverages to spirits, wines and liqueurs.

When you board your flight, you’ll find a tastefully designed cabin and comfortable seats. Your inflight experience will be defined by world-class service, delicious regionally inspired meals and award-winning entertainment. In Economy Class, you can browse more than 6,500 TV shows, movies podcasts, music tracks and other content - all on your personal HD TV. In Premium Economy, you’ll enjoy an elevated dining experience with an extended beverage menu, more spacious leather seating with a deeper recline and our latest upgraded inflight entertainment system with a 13.3 inch HD TV. 

In Business Class, you can wander down the plane to the A380 Onboard Lounge. In this social bar area, you’ll be able to order cocktails, mocktails and other premium drinks along with moreish light bites. In First Class, you can slide the doors closed to your own personal cabin – featuring a lie-flat seat, mood lighting and temperature controls - and enjoy access to the invigorating A380 Shower Spa.

After a seamless connection in Dubai to our partner flydubai, your flight to Kathmandu will arrive at Tribhuvan International Airport. There are no train links from the airport to Kathmandu city centre, but you can easily reach your destination via a taxi or pre-arranged transfer. There are also bus services to the city which take around an hour – these green buses leave from outside the arrivals hall, heading towards Ratna Park.

The drive to Kathmandu city centre by car takes roughly 15 minutes while Bhaktapur, another key city in the Kathmandu Valley, is approximately 25 minutes.

In Kathmandu, you’ll be met by a fascinating mixture of rich culture and history, sensational architecture and breathtaking mountain scenery. There are several UNESCO World Heritage Sites throughout the city and its surrounding area, while its streets and marketplaces throng with activity. From the ancient, enchanting Pashupatinath Temple and internationally renowned Nepalese cuisine, to the nearby peaks of the Himalayas, Kathmandu is brimming with unforgettable experiences.
