Flights to Nigeria

Nigeria is a captivating country with an assortment of distinctive and profoundly beautiful national reserves – in addition to booming major cities.

The coastal city of Lagos encapsulates this West African nation’s enchanting energy, with its thriving marketplaces, incredible art galleries and spellbinding natural beauty. Navigate the thrilling hubbub of Balogun Market to discover superb local crafts and see a vast collection of Nigerian artworks at the Nike Art Gallery – owned by renowned designer Nike Davies-Okundaye. Stroll along a 400-metre-long canopy walkway above Lekki Conservation Centre, a diverse hotbed of native wildlife, or relax on several beaches overlooking the Atlantic Ocean.

North-east of Lagos is Ibadan, Nigeria’s third largest city. This thronging trade hub and cultural powerhouse offers a fascinating snapshot of the Yoruba people, one of Africa’s largest ethnic groups. Vibrant festivals and events regularly take place in celebration of its heritage, creating atmospheric spectacles unique to the region.

In central Nigeria, the capital Abuja poses an intriguing blend of the nation’s ethnic groups. Hear several languages – from English to Hausa, Yoruba and Igbo – as you wander through the beautiful fountains and greenery of Millennium Park. On the horizon, you’ll spot the unmissable shape of Aso Rock, a colossal granite monolith that overlooks the Nigerian Presidential Complex. Just a short drive from the city, Zuma Rock is an even larger monolith that’s embedded in local legends and spirituality.

North of Abuja, Kano is another of Nigeria’s liveliest cities and can be used as a launchpad for exploring the wonderous Yankari National Park. Situated in the West African savanna, you can see one of the region’s largest remaining elephant populations here, along with buffaloes, baboons and lions. Unwind after a day of adventuring in Wikki Warm Spring, a brilliant blue natural pool shaded by trees underneath a sheer cliff face.

Near the port city of Calabar - famed for its colourful annual street festival - the lowland rainforest of the Cross River National Park is a strikingly different environment. Trek through dense, biodiverse landscapes to find rare primates like the Nigeria-Cameroon chimpanzee and Cross River gorilla.

To fuel up for a day in Nigeria, there’s no better dish than the world-famous jollof rice – made with a rich tomato sauce, peppers and spices, and served with juicy chicken or seafood. Pounded yam is equally popular and hearty, and typically served with nourishing ogbono or egusi soups.
