Dubai stopover

  • If your itinerary takes you via another city and you'd like to spend some time there before continuing to your final destination, tell your reservations agent or use the Advanced Search tab on the main Make a Booking page.

    For example, if your route is Dubai to Melbourne via Singapore, you may choose to stop over in Singapore. Some fares permit stopovers without extra charges (although additional taxes may apply), and other fares may apply a charge. When booking on emirates.com, be sure to use the Advanced Search tab to build the stopover into your itinerary at the time of booking. If you wish to add the stop after you have already purchased your ticket, change fees and any fare difference may apply depending on the fare conditions of your ticket.

  • If your route will take you through another city before your destination and you’d like to spend some time there, you may book a stopover itinerary. Simply select the “Multiple destinations” radio button on the Make a Booking page.

    To include a stopover in your itinerary, enter each leg of the journey separately. For example, to book a stopover in Dubai on your way from London to Sydney, enter “London” and “Dubai” in the first set of search fields, then “Dubai” and “Sydney” in the second set. Then click “Add a destination”, and enter “Sydney” and “London” in the final set of search fields.

Hotel bookings

Insurance

  • Please check the entry requirements for each destination country to determine if health insurance is required. Immunisation may be recommended or required for your destination or stopover points—you can use the IATA vaccination requirements search, or check with your physician.
  • The travel insurance policy, which is offered by subsidiaries or affiliates of American International Group, Inc. (AIG), provides coverage in case of unforeseen circumstances that may force you to cancel or shorten your trip or seek emergency medical treatment while travelling. Your travel insurance also offers coverage for the loss or delay of your baggage, in addition to many other coverages described in the policy, which you can review before making your purchase. All coverage is subject to policy terms and conditions.
  • The availability of travel insurance is based on your country of departure. If our travel insurance policy is available for your itinerary, you can buy it while booking your flights on emirates.com or you can add it to an existing booking through Manage a booking.

  • Travel insurance policies can’t be individually purchased if you are travelling as part of a group under one booking.

    So for example, if your spouse has already purchased annual travel insurance from another insurance company and you’re travelling together, you will be unable to select travel insurance solely for yourself.

  • Yes, up to four children under the age of 12 are covered at no additional charge when travelling with one or two insured adults.
  • Yes, for one-way journeys, the travel insurance policy will cover you up to 48 hours after arrival at your final destination, provided this is outside of your country of residence.
  • Please refer to the cancellation provision of your travel insurance policy to understand the cancellation and refund procedure. Policy cancellation is subject to approval by the local AIG office based on the reason for cancellation.
  • The full details of the policy are available online before you purchase your travel insurance. AIG will email the policy to you once you have completed your purchase. You can also request a copy of your policy from AIG via Manage a Booking.
  • If you lost or did not receive the travel insurance policy issued by AIG, you can choose to resend it by visiting Manage your booking and clicking the ‘email insurance policy’ button. You can also contact AIG (Opens an external website in a new window) directly.
  • You need to notify AIG of any changes using the contact details provided in your policy. Please ensure you contact AIG to update your travel insurance policy before your start date of travel. Once you have started your journey, you will not be able to change your insurance policy to increase the duration of coverage.
  • If your return flight is rescheduled to a later date by Emirates and you want to make a claim for Trip Delay, you need to notify AIG. Your travel insurance policy will be extended to the rescheduled date.
  • In most countries, there is no legal requirement for you to carry your travel insurance policy document with you. However, we advise you to check the requirements of each country you plan to visit as some may require proof of insurance. You also may want to carry a copy of your travel insurance policy for your easy reference in the event of an emergency. To submit a claim, you will need to provide your policy number to AIG.
  • To confirm that your policy was issued correctly, please contact AIG using the contact details provided in your travel insurance policy.
  • To report a claim, you must contact an AIG assistance centre. Contact details are provided in your travel insurance policy. An AIG representative will provide information on the claim process and send you a claim form via email. You then will need to post or email the completed claim form along with any additional documents specified by AIG.
  • Claims will be processed within 14 days after you submit all the required documents along with the claim form.
  • To receive a claim form, please contact AIG using the contact details provided in your travel insurance policy. AIG will send you the claim form via email.
  • All claims must be reported as soon as possible directly to AIG. Please refer to your travel insurance policy to further understand the requirements.
  • No, the travel insurance policy does not provide coverage for cancellation of a particular flight by an airline. However, if your flight is cancelled due to airspace closure and you have purchased airspace closure cover, then the coverage will apply subject to policy terms and conditions.
  • Yes, the travel insurance policy covers theft as long as the theft occurs during a covered trip as per the terms and conditions. However, please refer to the exclusions that apply to theft coverage in your travel insurance policy.
  • Depending on your country of residence, you may be able to purchase the following optional cover from AIG, via Manage a Booking, as an addition to your return trip travel insurance policy. Please note that the optional cover listed below cannot be purchased on a standalone basis or for a one-way trip:
    • Winter Sports cover
    • Golf cover
    • Business cover
    • Wedding cover
    • Air Space Closure cover

  • If, due to unexpected circumstances beyond your control which fall within the terms and conditions of this cover, your trip cannot be completed within the period of insurance outlined in your policy schedule, cover will be extended for you at no extra cost for up to 30 days. If the extension is for medical reasons, this also applies to one person travelling with you, as long as AIG authorizes them to stay with you in advance. All requests for more than 30 days must be authorized by AIG.
