Travel to Iran

If you are travelling to Iran, you must take a COVID-19 PCR test and complete the self-declaration form before departure.

Travel eligibility

Tourist or Visit visas will not be issued on arrival.

Passengers originating from or having visited the below countries within the past 14 days are not permitted to enter Iran:

  • Botswana
  • Brazil
  • Czech Republic
  • Iraq
  • Estonia
  • Ireland
  • Lesotho
  • Malawi
  • Mozambique
  • South Africa
  • Slovakia
  • United Kingdom
  • Zambia

Passengers originating or having visited countries within the European Union within the past 14 days are required to present the COVID-19 PCR test negative in English or approved by an Iranian Consulate.

COVID-19 testing requirements

All passengers, including Iranian nationals, and children above the age of 8 years old must carry a negative COVID-19 PCR test result certificate issued no later than 96 hours before departure. The certificate is mandatory to be accepted on the flight.

Passengers arriving from high risk countries mentioned below will additionally be subject to another COVID-19 PCR test upon arrival in IKA airport at their cost (equivalent of 2,500,000 IRR):

All passengers arriving in Tehran will undergo thermal screening, and suspected COVID-19 cases will be isolated, regardless of their negative test result certificate.


Iranian nationals not holding a negative test result can be accepted with a form of indemnity (FOI). They will undergo a COVID-19 PCR test on arrival and will be isolated in IBIS Hotel for 48 hours until the test result is received. Passengers must cover the costs of the test and hotel stay.

Required forms

Effective 5 August 2020, all passengers regardless of point of origin or nationality must complete the COVID-19 screening self-declaration form and present it to the health representatives on arrival.


Iranian nationals must complete an indemnity form and quarantine themselves at the specified address (preferably their own home) for 14 days. Non Iranian nationals will be quarantined at the Ministry of Health assigned IBIS International Airport Hotel for 14 days.

Other information

All costs for the COVID-19 PCR test (around USD 17) as well as hotel quarantine charges (around USD 30 per night) will be at the passenger’s expense.

Travel from Iran

If you are travelling from Iran, you are required to take a COVID-19 PCR test before departure. You may also be required to submit additional documentation. Please check the requirements of your specific destination before you travel.
