London Heathrow is situated in the borough of Hillingdon, 23km west of Central London. There are several ways you can get to the airport ahead of your flight to Kathmandu. 

Among the quickest ways to reach London Heathrow from Central London is by using the Heathrow Express or Great Western Rail trains. These services take 15 minutes to reach the airport from London Paddington. You can make use of our partnership with Great Western Rail too, which allows you to combine your flight and rail journey – whether that’s with Great Western Rail or the Heathrow Express - to London Heathrow in one ticket.

Bus services generally take 45 minutes to reach the airport from Central London and it’s a similar journey time via the London Underground.

By car, it takes around half an hour to reach Heathrow from Central London, though this can vary depending on traffic and the time of day. If you’re driving from elsewhere, you’ll typically take the M25. London Heathrow has 11 official car parks, ranging from park and ride to short stay and valet options.

Nepal’s primary international airport doesn't have train links to Kathmandu, but you can reach the city easily with a pre-arranged transfer or taxi. You can also take a bus from the airport, which takes around an hour. Board one of the green buses heading to Ratna Park from outside the arrivals hall.

By car, Kathmandu city centre is approximately 15 minutes from the airport. The drive to Bhaktapur, one of the other main cities in the Kathmandu Valley, is around 25 minutes.

  • Walk to the Kopan Monastery
