Once you’ve created your My Family account, you’ll see the option to invite up to seven members. If you’re adding members aged 18 or over, simply enter their details and we’ll send them an invitation by email.
If you’re adding a child, they can be added without an invitation as long as they’re already a Skysurfer and the Family Head is their parent or guardian.
Infants can also be added to make redemptions easier, but they can’t earn or contribute Skywards Miles to My Family.
An invitation email will only expire 14 days after a Family Head sends it (validity of email will be mentioned on the email sent to the member).
Family Head may withdraw the invitation prior to it being accepted.
When an invitation email is sent, it will direct the individual to the Emirates Skywards login/Join now page. The individual will then need to login to their account or join the Emirates Skywards Programme.

Skywards Miles can be redeemed from the My Family account for Classic Reward flights, on flights where Cash+Miles is offered, for Instant Upgrades at check‑in, with selected retail and lifestyle partners* (as offered by Emirates and our Partners), to donate Skywards Miles to support Emirates Airline Foundation initiatives, and on selected Skywards Exclusives events (subject to the Skywards Exclusives terms and conditions set out in these Programme Rules in respect of Skywards Exclusives). Emirates may amend the partner list at any time.

In the event of the death of a Family Head Emirates Skywards may, in its sole discretion, reinstate the deceased Member’s available Miles in the ‘My Family’ account to the credit of his/her legal beneficiaries provided that his/her ‘My Family’ account holds a minimum balance of 2,000 Miles at the time of receipt by Emirates Skywards of any application for such Miles.
Similar to the Skywards Miles in your individual account, the Miles in your My Family account will be valid for three years from the date of travel.
The expiry date is linked to the birth month of the individual member who contributed the Miles. For example, if you earned the Miles you contributed in May 2023 and your birthday is in August, these Miles will expire on 31 August 2026.
You can regularly check the My Family dashboard to see if you have Miles expiring soon.
No, you can’t use the Skywards Miles in your My Family account on Discounted Cabin Upgrades offered as part of your Exclusive Platinum Privileges.

Skywards Miles earned for eligible purchases will be credited to your Emirates Skywards membership account after the transaction has been processed and verified by the payment network (Visa or MasterCard), this can take up to 10 days. Where select participating partners offer a full refund, Skywards Miles will be credited to your membership account after the refund period, providing the purchase has not been cancelled or refunded.
If a Skywards Everyday partner has a refund policy offering a full refund, your Miles will be ’Pending’ in the ’My Statement’ page, until the refund policy period has ended. Where Skywards Miles have not been credited for an eligible transaction, you are requested to contact Emirates via the Help section on emirates.com, providing your credit or debit card purchase receipt (the small receipt).

Once you complete the redemption, your Skywards Miles will be debited from your account and the corresponding cash amount will be refunded to the payment card you used for that purchase.
The statement credit can take up to two days from the date of redemption to reflect in your payment card account. Yes. You can use your Upgrade Rewards benefit for your travel companions. When you book your Upgrade Rewards on emirates.com or at check-in, Miles will be deducted from your account for all or selected passengers in the same booking or flight. You can also book Upgrade Rewards through emirates.com for other passengers even if you’re not travelling with them. However, you can only use this benefit for other passengers at check-in if you’re also travelling.
