Flights to the United Kingdom
Glasgow is one of the UK’s most exciting cities - creative, characterful and full of surprises. While it may not be Scotland’s capital, a title that belongs to Edinburgh, it’s long been the country’s cultural powerhouse. From world-class galleries and grassroots music venues to a buzzing food scene, Glasgow has a confident, creative energy.
In the city centre, particularly around the historic Merchant City district, you’ll find stylish bars, independent boutiques and some of the best restaurants in Scotland. The St Enoch Centre offers a modern shopping experience, while nearby markets and quirky cafés keep things refreshingly local. For a culture fix, the Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum is a must-see - and one of the UK’s most visited attractions outside of London.
Away from the hustle and bustle of the city’s centre, the nearby Botanic Gardens house a stunning collection of plants in the exquisitely renovated Kibble Palace, a magnificent curvilinear glasshouse. Free guided tours are available on selected days and times.
Architecture fans will love the city’s Victorian grandeur and post-industrial grit, especially around the River Clyde. It’s a great place for a riverside walk, with plenty of places to stop for coffee or a bite to eat. If football is more your thing, few cities live and breathe the sport quite like Glasgow, home to the iconic Celtic and Rangers teams.
Gastronomists too will find plenty to enjoy in Glasgow. With more than 10 Michelin-starred restaurants serving up a diverse range of cuisines, from Mediterranean to Malaysian, Glasgow’s restaurant scene is as varied as the city itself.
