In the heart of Hollywood, no other hotel is as steeped in history as The Hollywood Roosevelt. An enduring presence; its red neon-lit sign is a glowing reminder of movie town’s Golden Age. Built in 1927, the hotel opened when the motion picture industry was at its peak and attracted regulars including Clark Gable, Charlie Chaplin, and Marilyn Monroe, who lived in a poolside cabana while attending modeling and casting calls.

While a recent renovation by New York design firm Yabu Pushelberg refreshed the rooms of the 12-storey tower, the dimly-lit lobby, accessed from the Hollywood Walk of Fame, looks just as it did back then – a well-preserved example of Moorish design.

Those with a partying streak will enjoy the cabana rooms overlooking the outdoor David Hockney pool and Tropicana Bar. For a quieter stay, opt for a renovated tower suite instead: request a corner location and wake up with a bird’s eye view of Hollywood Boulevard and the famous Hollywood sign.
