Suspension of flights to several US destinations

Due to operational concerns associated with the planned deployment of 5G mobile network services in the US at certain airports, Emirates will be suspending flights to the following US destinations on 20 January 2022: 

Chicago (ORD), Dallas, Fort Worth (DFW), Miami (MIA), Newark (EWR), Orlando (MCO), and Seattle (SEA).

Customers whose bookings have been cancelled may be able to connect to their final destination from one of Emirates’ other US gateways with our codeshare partners Jetblue, or Alaskan and are advised to contact their travel agent or Emirates call centre for information on options.

Emirates flights to New York JFK, Los Angeles (LAX) and Washington DC (IAD)  continue to operate as scheduled.

Emirates will operate the following flights to Boston (BOS), Houston (IAH), and San Francisco (SFO), utilising the Emirates A380 aircraft.

 

20 January 2022:

- EK237 from Dubai to Boston

- EK 225 from Dubai to San Francisco

- EK 211 from Dubai to Houston

 

21 January 2022:

-  EK 238 from Boston to Dubai

-  EK 226 from San Francisco to Dubai

-  EK 212 from Houston to Dubai

 

Other flights to these destinations remain suspended.

 

Affected customers do not need to call us immediately for rebooking. Customers can simply hold on to their Emirates ticket and when flights resume, get in touch with their travel agent or booking office to make new travel plans.

We are working closely with aircraft manufacturers and the relevant authorities to alleviate operational concerns, and we hope to resume our US services as soon as possible.

Resumption of passenger services from Guinea (CKY), Cote d'Ivoire (ABJ), Ghana (ACC), Uganda (EBB) and Angola (LAD)

From 13 January 2022, Emirates will resume passenger services to and from Guinea (CKY), Cote d'Ivoire (ABJ), Ghana (ACC), Uganda (EBB) and Angola (LAD). 

Passengers arriving and transiting in Dubai (DXB) from these destinations must meet the following travel requirements:

 

 Final destination Dubai:

  • Passengers travelling to Dubai from Guinea (CKY), Uganda (EBB) or Ghana (ACC) require a negative PCR test certificate with a QR code for a test conducted at an approved facility within 48 hours of departure, a 06-hours Rapid PCR with a QR code, and a PCR test on arrival in DXB. Test validity is calculated from the time the sample was collected.
  • Passengers travelling from or via Senegal (DSS) require a negative PCR test certificate with a QR code for the test conducted at an approved facility within 72 hours of departure, and a PCR test on arrival in DXB. Test validity is calculated from the time the sample was collected.
  • Passengers travelling to Dubai from Angola (LAD) and Cote d’Ivoire (ABJ) require a negative PCR test certificate with a QR code for a test conducted at an approved facility within 72 hours of departure, and a PCR test on arrival in DXB. Test validity is calculated from the time the sample was collected.

Passengers who are required to take a COVID-19 PCR test on arrival must remain in self-quarantine until they receive the test result.

 Transiting in Dubai:

  • Passengers transiting in Dubai from Guinea (CKY), Uganda (EBB), Ghana (ACC) and Cote d’Ivoire (ABJ) are only required to follow the travel requirements of their final destination
  • Passengers transiting in Dubai from Angola (LAD) are required to have a negative PCR test result with a QR code for a test conducted at an approved facility within 72 hours of departure and meet the travel requirements of their final destination.
  • Passengers transiting in Dubai from Guinea via Senegal (CKY via DSS) are required to follow the travel requirements of their final destination.

 

UAE Nationals and children under the age of 12 are exempt from these requirements.

Flights from Nairobi, Dar es Salaam, Lagos, Abuja, Harare, Lusaka, Addis Ababa and Casablanca to Dubai

Restrictions on entry and transit through Dubai

Customers originating from the following destinations will not be accepted for travel to or through Dubai with effect from 28 December 2021 until further notice.

  • United Republic of Tanzania (DAR)
  • Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia (ADD)

 

Cancelled flights (to and from Dubai)

Customers with bookings to and from the following points will not be accepted for travel, until further notice.

  • Republic of Kenya (NBO)
  • Lusaka (LUN)
  • Harare (HRE)
  • Lagos (LOS)
  • Abuja (ABV)
  • Casablanca (CMN)

Flights from South Africa

Emirates will now operate daily passenger flights into Johannesburg. Due to current travel restrictions, we will not be carrying outbound passengers from Johannesburg.

Customers can check emirates.com for flight schedules, seat availability, and the latest travel requirements.

Until further notice, Emirates’ passenger operations to and from Durban and Cape Town remain suspended. 

Customers affected by flight cancellations do not need to call us immediately for rebooking. Customers can simply hold on to their Emirates ticket and when flights resume, get in touch with their travel agent or booking office to make new travel plans.
