Including the Family Head, there can be up to eight members.
You can invite any members of your immediate family to join. If they’re not already Emirates Skywards members, they’ll just need to register first before you can add them. Immediate family members include the following: Husband, Wife, Partner, Son, Step-Son, Daughter, Step-Daughter, Mother, Mother-in-Law, Step-Mother, Father, Father-in-Law, Step-Father, Brother, Sister, Granddaughter, Grandson and Domestic Helper.
The Family Head is responsible for creating the My Family account, adding members, removing members, making travel bookings, redeeming Skywards Miles and all other day-to-day account management. Any member aged 18 or above can register as the Family Head.
Any Emirates Skywards member aged 18 years or above can become a Family Head and create a My Family account.
Once you’ve created your My Family account, you’ll see the option to invite up to seven members. If you’re adding members aged 18 or over, simply enter their details and we’ll send them an invitation by email.
If you’re adding a child, they can be added without an invitation as long as they’re already a Skysurfer and the Family Head is their parent or guardian.
Infants can also be added to make redemptions easier, but they can’t earn or contribute Skywards Miles to My Family.
An invitation email will only expire 14 days after a Family Head sends it (validity of email will be mentioned on the email sent to the member).
Family Head may withdraw the invitation prior to it being accepted.
When an invitation email is sent, it will direct the individual to the Emirates Skywards login/Join now page. The individual will then need to login to their account or join the Emirates Skywards Programme.
A member needs a unique email address to join Emirates Skywards.
When you’re added to My Family, you’ll be asked to choose a Skywards Miles contribution percentage of 25%, 50%, 75% or 100%. You can change this at any time and can even make your contribution 0% after the initial log-in.
Your current Skywards Miles balance and Tier Miles balance will remain as before. For any future Skywards Miles you earn on Emirates Flights or flydubai Flights, you can choose to contribute some or all of your Skywards Miles to your My Family account. The contribution percentage can be changed at any time.
Yes, you can set your Skywards Miles percentage contribution to 100% so that all the Skywards Miles you earn on future Emirates flights or flydubai flights go into your My Family account. Any Tier Miles you earn on the flight will still be credited to your individual Emirates Skywards account.
Yes, you can change the contribution percentage or stop contributions at any time by selecting the ‘Edit’ button which appears next to your name on the My Family dashboard. You can also set the contribution percentage to zero and credit all future Skywards Miles into your individual Emirates Skywards account.
Yes, the contribution includes all Miles earned including those earned as a bonus or through a promotion. The number of Miles contributed, will always be rounded up to the next whole one.
Once Miles have been contributed into My Family, they can’t be transferred back to the individual member.
Tier Miles will continue to be credited to your individual Emirates Skywards or Skysurfers account and cannot be contributed to My Family.
Yes. You can change your contribution percentage at any time, however the change will only take effect after your current set of flights are complete. For example, if you are currently between flights i.e. Bangkok – Dubai – London, the new percentage contribution will take effect after you arrive in your final destination, London.
Members are eligible to utilise their Skywards Miles from My Family account to redeem flight upgrades on Emirates Flights prior to flight departure, except for instant upgrade rewards (at check-in or on board) and discounted upgrade reward offers. They can also use a combination of Cash+Miles on Emirates Flights or choose to donate Miles. (Miles cannot be used with cash for flydubai Flights.)
Members can also spend their Miles with our Retail & Lifestyle partners Arabian Adventures, Careem, Damas, Done Events, Emirates – Culture & Sport events, Emirates Holidays, Magrudy’s, Ski Dubai and Wild Wadi Water Park. Or at Le Méridien Dubai (Spa & Health Club) and Budget car rental. This list of partners may be amended at any time.
To claim a reward, a Member must have accumulated the required amount of Skywards Miles in the My Family account. Miles cannot be combined from two or more accounts.
Only the Family Head can redeem Miles from a My Family account. Family members can’t.
No, the Family Head can’t be removed. They have the option to close the My Family account but will forfeit any remaining Skywards Miles.
Once you’re logged into My Family, you can choose to remove a member. If the member is over 18, we’ll send them an email to let them know about the change. If you remove a child, we’ll send an email to their second parent or guardian, if one is listed. Once they’ve been removed, they can no longer contribute Skywards Miles or be included in any redemptions.
Miles will remain in the My Family account and can be used by the Family Head for current/existing My Family account members only.
The Miles you contributed to My Family would not be transferred back to your individual account.
These services are currently only available to a member using an individual Emirates Skywards account and do not apply to My Family accounts.
Additional Miles can’t be purchased for My Family accounts.
Miles contributed to a My Family account can’t be gifted, transferred or reinstated.
Similar to your individual Skywards Miles, they will be valid in your My Family account for three years from the date of travel. Within the calendar year that Skywards Miles are due to expire, Skywards Miles will be removed from all relevant accounts at the end of the month in which you were born. For example, if you earned Miles in May 2018 and your birthday is in August, these Miles will expire on 31 August 2021. You can set up automated messages from your My Account page to remind you when Skywards Miles in your individual Emirates Skywards account are due to expire.
Your first name, last name and Skywards Miles contribution percentage will be visible to all other members in your My Family account. Details related to transactions i.e transaction type, passenger name (title, first name and last name for the member who has flown) and the number of Skywards Miles contributed to the account and also used for a redemption booking will also be shared. In addition, the Family Head will be able to see details related to redemption flight tickets, including cabin class and fare brand.
If you are receiving an error message when accepting an invitation to join a My Family account, please make sure you are logged into your own Emirates Skywards account or that the invitation link has not expired.
If you send an invitation to an incorrect email address, you can withdraw the invite. Alternatively the invite will expire after 14 days.
Yes, as long as their parent or guardian is the Family Head. If the child is aged between two and 18, they’ll also need to register as part of our Skywards Skysurfers programme if they’re not already a member so they can earn Miles and contribute to My Family.
Yes, infants can also be added for redemption purposes only, but they can’t earn or contribute Skywards Miles to My Family. Any number of infants can be added as they don’t count towards the total number of Family Members.
