Departures

You can visit our team at our check-in desks or you can use our self check-in kiosks. Our check-in desks feature hearing loops to enhance the sound and reduce background noise for people using hearing aids equipped with t-coil technology. 

At check in you can also register for Emirates Biometrics and go hands-free through the airport using facial recognition.

Self check-in kiosks

Use our kiosks to check in, send your bags to your flight, print or email your boarding pass and update your Emirates Skywards details.

The kiosks are wheelchair accessible. Our kiosks have touchscreens and accessible features such as touch controls on a pad, and an audio socket and loudspeaker for customers with hearing, vision and speech disabilities. You can also control the kiosk using your phone.

The kiosks have audio, written and visual instructions to tell you exactly what to do at each step and our team are always on hand to help you through the process.

Check in away from the airport

If you prefer to complete the process before going to the airport, you can visit our Autism Certified City Check-in locations in the UAE, or book Home Check-in for an extra fee and an agent will come to you.

You can also check in online from 48 hours before your flight. You will still need to visit our desks or kiosks at the airport if you want to check in any bags. If you only have cabin baggage, you can go straight through to passport control and security.

After check-in, you will reach passport control and security. If you have a hidden disabilities sunflower lanyard you can use the sunflower lane and that gives you priority in the queue. You can also have priority if you have asked for assistance or you’re using a wheelchair.

Immigration and the Smart Gates

At passport control, the immigration team will help you at the desks. If you’re a UAE citizen or resident, GCC national or a visa-on-arrival visitor with a biometric passport, you can register for the Smart Gates in Dubai. This makes it faster to pass through immigration whenever you’re flying to and from Dubai.

The process involves stepping through a gate, scanning your passport and having a quick photo, so you will need to be able to reach the camera. There is a wheelchair accessible Smart Tunnel, which you can pass through without any document checks.

The Smart Gates have visual instructions on the screen, and the airport team will be there to assist you.

Security

At Security, the team will guide you through the process. There are visual references to show you how to put your bags through the scanner and the items you can and can’t take through.

You will need to pass through a metal detector, which involves passing through an archway. If you’re using a wheelchair, the security check will be conducted in a separate room. Then you can continue to the concourse and your boarding gate.
