Tribe, Dubai

22 June 2016

Bohemian, eclectic and socially responsible, Jo England’s design studio in Dubai supports local artisans and makes your home look good in the process.

We’re a lifestyle and design store in Dubai. Since opening in 2015, we’ve quickly gathered momentum and collaborated on many projects with designers, stylists, artists, retail spaces and cafes in and around Dubai. This September we open our second location at The Courtyard, Al Quoz, a place that is set to buzz with new shops, cafes and markets.

Expect to find a real mix. We’re a little bit bohemian, a little bit vintage, very global-chic and hugely gorgeous. It all magically hums together with a fresh, light palate of organic natural tones and textures.

Ethical trade is the core of our business principle. It must be good for the environment, for the artisan and for the community. Tribe represents our passion for handmade, organic and sustainable goods, and a love for sourcing products, meeting with the artisans and supporting the continuation of their skills.

Sustainability is hugely important. We want our collection to look good, feel good and know it has done some good. For example, we proudly represent the beautiful, handmade Armadillo&Co Rugs, which are certified fair trade, are made of sustainable materials and provide employment for their ‘family’ of 1,500 weavers in India, sustaining an industry of craftsmen. It also supports education and local schools in their weavers’ villages. Armadillo&Co has built six schools so far, creating a brighter future for children in these underprivileged communities.

Hidden among the maze of industrial roads is a pool of talented and skilled artisans who have, collectively, been here for decades. These are the people we turn to for our custom-made upholstered and wooden bespoke furniture.
