See Celtic or Rangers

To be accepted as an honorary Glaswegian, you may have to pick an Old Firm side: Celtic or Rangers. Head to either Celtic Park (home of the top division Bhoys) or Ibrox Stadium to experience the atmosphere created by some of the world's most passionate football fans. Just be sure to wear the right colours for your side of town.

The Squid & Whale (Mexican)

If you’re looking for a friendly, cosy spot for a laid-back dinner, the Squid & Whale is a good choice. This relaxed Mexican restaurant in Glasgow also has an impressive selection of craft beverages, which you can use to wash down the lengthy menu of tacos, burritos, antojitos and daily specials.

The Dhabba (Indian)

Dhabbas are roadside diners in northern India, which is where this restaurant’s cuisine comes from. The chefs here have cooked for presidents in their homeland, so they know their stuff. Be sure to try the dum pukht – curries slow-cooked and sealed in pots with thin layers of bread.

Old Salty's (Seafood)

You can’t leave Scotland without eating something coated in batter – this is the land that gave the world deep-fried Mars Bars, after all. Glaswegians love their fish and chips, and Old Salty’s serves up some of the best in town. For a lighter bite, try their grilled tiger prawns with lemon and chilli.
