Emirates celebrates 15 years of operations to Geneva

Geneva/Dubai, October 5 2026 – Emirates is celebrating 15 years of operations to Geneva. Since launching its first flight to the Swiss city on 1 June 2011, the airline has carried over 3.4 million passengers to and from Geneva and operated more than 15,588 return flights,* connecting customers via Dubai with destinations across its global network.

Emirates currently operates two daily services between Geneva and Dubai, providing travellers from Western Switzerland and neighbouring regions with convenient connections to destinations across the Middle East, Asia, the Indian Ocean, Australia and beyond.

Dubai remains the most popular destination for Emirates passengers departing from Geneva, followed by Bangkok, Mauritius, Bali, Kuala Lumpur, Sydney, Manila and Singapore.

Mohammad Lootah, Emirates’ Country Manager for Switzerland: “Celebrating 15 years of operations to Geneva is an important milestone for Emirates and reflects the strong relationship we have built with our customers and partners in Western Switzerland. Geneva has established itself as a key gateway in our Swiss network, with particularly strong demand for our premium offering. We remain committed to investing in the customer experience, strengthening connectivity from the region and continuing to grow our presence in Geneva and Switzerland.”

Strong demand for premium travel

Geneva is characterised by strong demand for Emirates’ premium cabins. In 2025, the average seat factor reached 74% in First Class and 86% in Business Class.

Emirates has continued to invest in the customer experience for travellers from Geneva. The airline operates its retrofitted Boeing 777 on the Geneva route, featuring a four-class cabin including Premium Economy and the new Business Class cabin in a 1-2-1 configuration. Geneva was the first destination in Emirates’ global network to receive the retrofitted four-class Boeing 777 in August 2024.

The airline further strengthened its local presence in May 2025 with the opening of its first Emirates Travel Store in Switzerland. Located on Rue du Rhône in central Geneva, the store provides customers with personalised travel advice and marks Emirates’ first physical retail presence in Switzerland.

Supporting Swiss trade through Emirates SkyCargo

Alongside passenger services, Emirates SkyCargo has supported trade between Switzerland and global markets, transporting more than 179,925 tonnes of cargo since the start of operations.*

Key commodities exported from Geneva include watches, jewellery and pharmaceuticals, alongside food, chemicals and general cargo. Based on export cargo data from Geneva between April 2023 and September 2026, more than 50% of Emirates’ export cargo was destined for markets across the Middle East, including 32% for the UAE. East Asia and Australasia are also key export markets.

Given the specific handling requirements of high-value goods such as watches and jewellery, Emirates SkyCargo has dedicated internal processes in place to support the safe handling and quality of valuable cargo throughout transportation.

Through its Dubai hub and global cargo network, Emirates SkyCargo connects Swiss businesses and freight forwarders with markets worldwide.

Swiss talent across the Emirates Group

Emirates’ connection with Switzerland extends beyond its flight operations. As of 31 August 2026, 97 Swiss nationals work across the Emirates Group, including 41 pilots, 23 cabin crew members and 33 employees in other roles.
