Emirates Group raises UAE flag high to mark Flag Day

DUBAI, UAE – 3 NOVEMBER 2014  - His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman and Chief Executive, Emirates Airline & Group, hoisted the UAE flag outside of the Emirates Group Headquarters building today to mark Flag Day. This is in response to the directive of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice-President and Prime Minister and the Ruler of Dubai to public and private entities across the UAE to raise the flag at precisely the same time today at 12 noon as a demonstration of unity. Over 200 Emirates staff gathered for the flag raising ceremony today.

Commenting on the occasion, His Highness said: “UAE Flag Day is an opportunity for us to demonstrate our country’s unity and honour our commitment to its growth. The staff at Emirates are proud of how far we have come and where we are going under the leadership the UAE and it is encouraging to see staff of all different nationalities gather to participate in today’s flag raising ceremony.”

This year also marks the 10th anniversary of President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan’s accession as President of the UAE.
