Emirates Group proudly raises UAE flag to mark Flag Day

DUBAI, U.A.E.,3 November, U.A.E – His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman and Chief Executive, Emirates Airline & Group, raised the UAE flag outside of the Emirates Group Headquarters building today to mark the nation’s Flag Day.

Hoisting the flag comes in solidarity to a call from HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice-President and Prime Minister and the Ruler of Dubai to entities across the UAE to raise the flag to symbolize the UAE’s national pride, unity and its aspirations for the future. Over 300 Emirates Group staff gathered for the flag raising ceremony this morning.

Commenting on the occasion, His Highness said: “Raising the UAE flag in unison with other government and private entities today demonstrates the country’s unity and commitment to a better future. This year, Emirates marks 30 years of aviation success – a testament that we are also growing in tandem with the UAE. Our staff at Emirates come from over 160 nationalities and they are proud of how far the UAE has come, and the successes to date will only motivate us to strive for more. It is inspiring to see our Emirati staff and their colleagues from all backgrounds participating in today’s flag raising ceremony, and we are particularly proud of staff carrying the flag across the world today to show their love for the UAE. ”

Today coincides with Emirates’ inaugural flight to Bologna, Italy which marks the airline’s 148th destination. The UAE flag will also be raised high upon landing to commemorate UAE flag day.
