COVID-19 testing requirements

Effective 5 October 2020 to 31 March 2021, entry requirements for travellers to Pakistan have been revised. A mandatory negative COVID-19 RT-PCR test has to be taken within 96 hours of the travel date when coming from selected countries. For detailed information, please refer to the government website.

The following tests are considered equivalent to PCR based test for COVID-19: Real Time RT-PCR for Covid-19, Real Time RT-PCR for SARS-Cov-2, RT-PCR for COVID-19, RT-PCR for SARS-Cov-2, PCR for COVID-19, PCR for SARS-Cov-2, Xpert Xpress SARS-Cov-2 or SARS-Cov-2 GeneXpert

Required forms

It is mandatory for passengers travelling to Pakistan to complete the personal details on the web portal and will be required to present a paper print of the form at the time of check-in. Without this documentation customers will not be boarded for the flight. You can also install PASS TRACK app from Google Play store /Apple store and enter the personal details as required. Please make sure all the details you've provided on the form are correct before going to the airport. The completed form (on the app or printed copy of uploaded information) must be presented at check-in for verification before travel.

Passengers must upload a copy of the RT-PCR test (if done) on the app or web portal.

Exemptions

The following passengers are exempted from the COVID-19 PCR test requirement:

  • Passengers less below 12 years.
  • Disabled passengers.
  • High level international delegations.

All passengers and crew members travelling to Pakistan must fill the Health Declaration Form provided at the airport.

Requirements for passengers travelling from the United Kingdom and South Africa

Measures applicable for passengers arriving from the United Kingdom and South Africa effective 5 January 2021 to 31 January 2021

  • Pakistani nationals with short term UK and South African visit visas and Pakistani passport holders including work permit holders, with any type of visa issued by British and South African Authorities are allowed to travel to Pakistan.
  • Nationals of the United Kingdom & South Africa who have been outside of the United Kingdom or South Africa in the past 10 days can travel to Pakistan.
  • Flight crew performing duties on flights between UK and Pakistan may disembark in Pakistan with the stipulation that such flight crew shall be tested for COVID-19 upon arrival and quarantined in their designated hotels. Following a negative test result, the flight crew will be allowed to perform duties in Pakistan and any flight crew with a positive test result will be quarantined in their designated hotels for a time period as specified by the respective Health Authorities.
  • Diplomats and their families who are arriving from the UK and South Africa may also enter Pakistan. Additionally, such passengers have to undergo a Rapid Antigen Test upon arrival in Pakistan and are required to quarantine for 5 days.

Entry requirements for the above categories:

  • Negative COVID-19 PCR test performed within 72 hours of flight departure to Pakistan.
  • COVID-19 PCR test upon arrival in Pakistan under arrangements made by Central Health Establishment, Islamabad/ Federating Units Health Staff, for which a passenger will be required to either stay inside the airport premises or in a government facility until the test is performed.
  • Mandatory enforced home quarantine for a period of 7 days.
  • Trace and Test for all passengers who have arrived from the UK over the period of the last 7 days as per TTQ protocol.

Effective 9 January 2021 until 31 January 2021:

  • Passengers holding a valid National Identity Card for Overseas Pakistanis (NICOP) or Pakistani Origin Card (POC) who have stayed in the UK or South Africa in the past 10 days may enter Pakistan given they hold a negative COVID-19 PCR test performed within 72 hours of flight departure to Pakistan. Additionally, such passengers have to undergo a Rapid Antigen Test upon arrival in Pakistan and are required to quarantine for 5 days.

Apps required

Upload/ feeding of data in the Pass Track App will be mandatory for all passengers arriving in Pakistan with effect from 23 December 2020, either through the Pass Track App or the Pass Track web form/ portal.

Travel from Pakistan

If you are travelling from Pakistan, you may be required to take a COVID-19 PCR test and submit additional documentation before departure. Please check the requirements of your specific destination before you travel.

COVID-19 testing requirements

Effective 16 November 20 for passengers originating their journey from Pakistan to any destinations requiring COVID-19 PCR test, Emirates will only accept COVID-19 negative test certificate from a Pakistan Government Approved Lab* where a QR Code is embedded on their printed certificate for verification purpose.

Passengers must make sure to check their transit & final destination requirement before going for a COVID-19 test. Requirements such as: test type, report validity, stamp or signature requirement, destination specific designated lab, ISO 15189 certification etc. Passengers may visit: Travel Requirements by Destination

Passengers without authorised COVID-19 test certificate where a QR Code is not embedded or doesn't fulfil their destination requirement will be denied boarding without compensation.

Passengers must carry a printed COVID-19 test certificate – SMS and digital certificates are not accepted.
