Travel to Bangladesh

If you are travelling to Bangladesh, you must take a COVID-19 PCR test before departure and submit a health card on arrival. Read through the guideline for all arriving passengers on the Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh portal.

Travel update for passengers arriving to Bangladesh from the United Kingdom:

Effective 16th January 2021, passengers arriving from the United Kingdom (directly or through any intermediate points) are required to undergo mandatory institutional quarantine for at least 14 days.

  • Passengers will be sent to the government selected Hotel for Mandatory Institutional Quarantine for 04 (four) days. All expenses of the stay in the Hotel shall be borne by the passenger. Those who are unable to bear the expenses will be institutionally quarantined in the selected centre under government arrangement.
  • Sample will be collected for the COVID-19 PCR test after 04 (four) days and the passenger will be sent to 'home quarantine' to complete the total 14 (fourteen) days quarantine if the COVID-19 PCR test result is Negative.
  • If the COVID-19 PCR test result is Positive, the passenger will be sent to the government selected hospital for isolation. All expenses of the hospital shall be borne by the passenger.

COVID-19 testing requirements

  • All passengers coming to Bangladesh shall mandatorily possess PCR based COVID-19 negative certificate' obtained within 72 hours of the flight time and show it on-arrival at the Airport. If no COVID-19 symptoms are found on-arrival health check, he/she shall have to complete a 14 days home quarantine. However, if any COVID-19 symptoms are detected/observed, he/she shall be sent to Government Authorized Hospital for further checks or kept in isolation centre depending on the nature/intensity of the symptoms.
  • All foreign nationals with a valid visa for Bangladesh must have a negative COVID-19 PCR test certificate issued within 72 hours of travel. Visa on arrival is currently restricted and only allowed for foreign investors with the necessary documentation and a negative COVID-19 PCR test certificate issued within 72 hours of travel.
  • Diplomats of foreign missions in Bangladesh and their recognized family members shall have to possess "PCR based COVID-19 certificate' obtained within 72 hours of the flight time and show it on-arrival at the Airport. However, if no COVID-19 symptoms are found on-arrival health check, he/she shall have to complete a 14 days home quarantine. But, if any COVID-19 symptoms are detected/observed, he/she shall have to go to hospital for further checks.
  • Foreign investors or entrepreneur coming to Bangladesh shall also possess and submit 'PCR based COVID-19 negative certificate' obtained within 72 hours of the flight time and show it on-arrival at the airport. If no COVID-19 symptoms are found on-arrival health check and he intend to stay Bangladesh for less than 14 days, he/she may be allowed to leave Bangladesh. But, if any COVID-19 symptoms are detected/observed, he/she shall be sent to Government Authorized Hospital for further checks or kept in isolation centre depending on the nature/intensity of the symptoms.
  • Bangladeshi nationals or Bangladeshi origin foreign passport holders with a ‘No visa require for Bangladesh’ stamp or sticker in their passport must carry a negative COVID-19 PCR test certificate or COVID-19 symptom free certificate in English issued within 72 hours of travel.

Exemptions

COVID-19 PCR test exemptions are applicable to the below customer categories:

  • passengers younger than 10 years.

Required forms

All foreign passport holders must have BD visa on their passports to enter Bangladesh.

Passengers must submit a health card to the Health Authorities in the arrival hall.

Travel from Bangladesh

If you are travelling from Bangladesh, you may be required to take a COVID-19 PCR test and submit additional documentation before departure. Please check the requirements of your specific destination before you travel.

COVID-19 testing requirements

All passengers (foreign passport holders and Bangladeshi citizens) travelling to international destinations from any airport in Bangladesh must obtain a COVID-19 PCR test certificate from the approved hospitals or organisations. The test must be conducted 72 hours before departure or within the time prescribed by the destination country. Passengers must carry a copy of the negative COVID-19 PCR test result certificate and will also be required to undergo a COVID-19 PCR test on arrival in Dubai. Bring an official printed certificate – SMS and digital certificates are not accepted.
