If you haven’t earned enough Miles to achieve the reward of your choice, or you’d like to give Miles to a fellow Emirates Skywards member as a gift, you can buy them online by logging in and going to the My Account section (A purchasing member’s account must have at least one Emirates flight or partner earning activity).

• Platinum and Gold members can purchase up to 200,000 Miles in a calendar year
• Silver and Blue members can purchase up to 100,00 Miles in a calendar year
• At least 2,000 Miles must be purchased or gifted per transaction, priced at USD30 for every 1,000 Miles

Miles can be purchased for yourself or gifted to someone else in multiples of 1,000, minimum amount being at 2,000 Miles.

Skywards Miles can be transferred to another Emirates Skywards account by logging in and going to the My Account section. Miles can only be transferred if the receiving account has at least one Emirates flight or partner earning activity.

• You can transfer up to 50,000 Skywards Miles per calendar year, priced at USD15 for every 1,000 Miles
• At least 2,000 Miles must be purchased per transaction

Yes, Miles which have expired may be reinstated so long as the request is made within 6 months of expiry. Any Miles reinstated will be valid for 12 months beyond the date of purchase. Reinstatement of Miles is available at a lower price than our standard Buy Miles product. 1,000 Miles is the initial minimum purchase and the maximum number of Miles that a member can extend and reinstate is 50,000 Miles per calendar year.

Your transaction will be conducted with Points.com which is a fully authorised and approved partner of the Emirates Skywards programme. When you receive your credit card statement it will read ‘Skywards Miles by PTS' and the amount of the purchase.

No. Bought or gifted Miles can be used for Classic Rewards flight or Upgrade redemption on an existing Emirates or flydubai ticket. The amount paid for the bought or gifted Miles cannot be used as a cash voucher for Emirates products and services.

The Miles you Buy or Gift can be redeemed for Classic Rewards flights and Upgrades redemption. While we don’t restrict spending your Miles on any products or services offered by Emirates, we encourage you to check the Miles requirement for flights and upgrades on our Miles Calculator.

With Cash+Miles you now have the choice and flexibility to access any Emirates seat and pay using a combination of cash and Skywards Miles. You can convert* your Skywards Miles into cash and put them towards the cost of your flight and any related product or service you’d like to purchase. .You can convert your Skywards Miles into cash and put them towards the cost of your flight. The conversion rate will vary. So even if you don’t have enough Miles in your account to book a Classic Reward flight with Miles alone, you can still use your Miles to bring down your fare. Our existing Emirates flight rewards stay the same, but we’ve renamed them as Classic Rewards.

For Cash+Miles on Emirates Flights, you can contribute any amount of Miles towards the cost of your ticket and any related product or service you’d like to purchase. We’ll work out the relevant cash amount* to take off your fare. The conversion rate will vary.

For Cash+Miles on flydubai Flights, there is no minimum amount towards the cost of your ticket. Cash+Miles for related products and services is only available on Emirates flights.

While Classic Saver Rewards will generally provide the best value for members with sufficient Miles, during certain periods and on certain routes our base fares may convert to a level lower than Classic Rewards. To maximise your reward value we recommend that you check both the Classic Reward and Cash+Miles quotations when searching your flights. Carrier imposed charges can be paid using either cash or Miles, taxes and fees are always paid for with cash.

Yes, you can use Cash+Miles at the time of booking to pay for flights for family and friends.

No, Cash+Miles can’t be used to upgrade a booking. There is no change to the way you are currently able to upgrade bookings.

Yes, your Miles will be refunded if you cancel a booking you paid for using Cash+Miles. However, any Miles that expired within the purchase period will not be refunded to your account. If you have completed part of your journey and want to cancel and refund the rest, your ticket will be re-priced so only the unused percentage of Cash+Miles will be refunded to you. Miles used to pay for related products and services are non-refundable unless the cancellation or change is involuntary or due to operational reasons.

You can make changes to your Classic Rewards ticket online through Manage your booking or by calling your local Emirates Contact Centre.

New members can claim Miles for Emirates Flights flown up to two months prior to registering with Emirates Skywards.

New members can also claim Miles for flydubai Flights flown up to two months prior to registering with Emirates Skywards.

Miles can be claimed only for qualifying flights taken within six months from the travel date. We’ll credit the Miles into your account straight away, as long as the name on the ticket matches the name in your Emirates Skywards profile exactly.

You can submit a claim if your Miles haven’t been credited to your account within three weeks of the partner transaction date. To claim missing Miles, the name used for the partner booking must match the name in your Emirates Skywards profile exactly. Depending on the partner, follow one of these steps to claim your Miles:

1. Airlines: contact us via Live Chat* and provide the required information such as booking name, flight date, flight number, class of travel, origin, destination and ticket number.
2. Hotels, car rental or retail and lifestyle: contact us via Live Chat* and be ready with a copy of the original invoices within six months of the transaction date. Please note some of our partners offer the ability to claim missing Miles directly from their website, including Avis, Hertz, Europcar, and Sixt.
3. Banks: please contact your bank’s service centre directly.

Please allow six to eight weeks from the date your claim is received for any missing Miles to appear in your account.

Some of our partners offer the facility to make a claim directly on their website. You can check if this service is available by visiting the individual partner page.

If you’re missing Miles from an Emirates flight, please log in and submit an online claim.

We’ll credit the Miles into your account straight away, as long as the name on the ticket matches the name in your Emirates Skywards profile exactly. To credit Miles into your My Family account, you have to quote your individual membership number. Based on the contribution percentage you have chosen, the Miles will be credited back to your My Family account.

Please note that My Family members cannot make backdated claims for flights they have taken before joining My Family.

To claim missing Miles on a Skysurfer account for an Emirates flight, the nominated parent or guardian can either call an Emirates Contact Centre or email us with the membership number, ticket details and booking reference. To claim missing Miles on a Skysurfer account for a partner transaction, the nominated parent or guardian should email us with account details and copies of the relevant invoices and/or receipts.

Miles might be missing from your statement for several reasons. The most common are:

1. The name on the reservation doesn’t exactly match the name registered on your Emirates Skywards profile.
2. The transaction is still being processed (please allow 48 hours for a flight booked with Emirates or flydubai, or up to three weeks for a transaction with an Emirates Skywards partner).
3. Your Emirates Skywards membership number was not quoted, or was misquoted, at the time of booking or at check-in.
4. You have not travelled on the inbound or outbound part of your journey yet.

You can earn Skywards Miles for flights operated by Qantas as indicated below:

A. On flights with an EK flight number you will earn Miles as per the current Emirates Skywards programme levels for travel on Emirates. This will include any add-ons for domestic flights which are part of a continuous international journey.

B. On flights with a QF flight number you will earn Miles at a different rate, based upon distance travelled. See more details on the Qantas partner page.

C. Please note that Skywards Miles will be awarded on Qantas operated flights and Qantas link scheduled services only, and will not be earned on codeshare flights.

You will earn Tier Miles on Qantas-operated flights with an EK flight number. Tier Miles will not be available on any flights with a QF flight number.

Please note that Skywards Miles will be awarded on Qantas operated flights and Qantas link scheduled services only, and will not be earned on codeshare flights.

You can earn Miles on a domestic Qantas flight when it is booked as part of a continuous international journey with Emirates or Qantas. Miles cannot be earned solely on domestic sectors, such as Melbourne-Sydney.

You can visit the Book a flight page and Manage your booking page to spend your Skywards Miles on Emirates flight rewards. You can also use your Skywards Miles to easily upgrade any existing Emirates flight booking, including those of friends and family, by going to Manage a Booking, subject to seat availability and applicable upgrade restrictions*.

If you would like to spend your Miles on a reward with our other airline (except flydubai), car hire, hotel and retail partners just fill in the relevant online reward form. When you have submitted the form, your nearest Emirates Contact Centre will get in touch with you to confirm the details. Please allow a maximum of seven working days for the request to be processed, although we will do our best to get back to you within 24 hours.

Saver rewards offer the best value when you travel during lower-demand periods or when your travel dates are flexible.

• They are available on a return basis in Economy Class and Business Class.
• You can stay for up to three months.
• You can add one stopover to your journey.
• You can change your travel dates after the ticket has been issued for USD 25 per change.
• A fee of USD 75 will apply if you cancel an unused Saver reward ticket.

Flex Plus rewards offer you even more reward seats during high-demand periods and on high-demand flights.

• They are available on a return and one-way basis in every class of travel.
• You can stay for up to one year.
• You can add two stopovers to your journey.
• You can make changes to your travel dates at any time without charge.
• You can cancel your ticket without charge before travel.

You can book a return ticket using a combination of Saver and Flex Plus reward fares, depending on your travel requirements and what allocated seats are available at the time of booking.

If you want to travel on a high-demand flight, it’s best to choose a Flex Plus reward. They cost more Miles than a Saver reward, but you can use them for a wider range of travel dates.

Yes. However, you will need to book a Flex Plus fare. You can book a one-way Flex Plus reward fare in every class, as long as you fly from one flight zone to another. They’re not valid for travel within a single zone. You can add one stopover on your journey, but your journey must take place in one continuous direction. You can purchase a one-way Flex Plus reward for 50% of the Miles needed for a return Flex Plus reward between the same airports.

Credit card information is required in order to cover the government taxes and airport charges levied on all ticket purchases, including those purchased with Skywards Miles, whether with Emirates or with a partner airline (except flydubai). Airport taxes are compulsory and are not taken by the airline but are usually charged by governments or airport management companies.

Yes you can. For an Emirates flight reward, visit Book a flight page and choose ‘pay with Miles’. For partner flight rewards (except flydubai), please use the online reward form.

To enjoy reward flights with your family, you only need to spend 10% of the Miles value of an adult reward ticket for infants below two years old. Please note that you can only use infant reward tickets in Economy Class.

You can enjoy upgrade rewards using Skywards Miles for infants from Economy Class to Premium Economy, Economy Class to Business Class, Premium Economy to Business Class and Business Class to First Class.

Any member from any tier can use their Skywards Miles to upgrade their Emirates Flight to either Premium Economy, Business Class or First Class.

• Call an Emirates Contact Centre (up to six hours before departure).
• Purchase an instant upgrade reward with Skywards Miles at the airport check-in desk (applicable to all membership tiers) or on board the aircraft, subject to seat availability and applicable upgrade restrictions*.

You can upgrade your cabin class depending on the fare brand and type of ticket you purchase.

Economy Class and Business Class tickets purchased as Flex and Flex Plus fares can be upgraded online up to six hours before departure, Premium Economy tickets purchased as Flex Plus fares can be upgraded online up to six hours before departure. Business Class Saver and Economy Class Saver tickets can only be upgraded at online check-in between 48 and six hours before departure. You can upgrade online using Manage your booking.

Please note Economy Class Special fares aren’t eligible for upgrades, and all upgrades are subject to seat availability and restrictions.

The Miles needed for an Emirates Flight upgrade reflect the type of fare that you buy. For example, you need fewer Miles to upgrade a Flex Plus or Flex fare compared to a Saver fare.

Yes. Your nearest Emirates Contact Centre will be pleased to assist you.

If you upgrade online by using Manage your booking facility, then all passengers on the booking will automatically be upgraded if you have the available Miles.

If you do not wish the upgrade to apply to all passengers, please call an Emirates Contact Centre to arrange individual upgrades.

In order to upgrade a flight online:

• An eticket must have been issued for each passenger travelling.
• The flight must be operated and marketed by Emirates, i.e. no codeshare flights.
• Upgrades on emirates.com can be made up to six hours before your flight departs; if there are less than six hours to go, this facility will not be available online.
• The dates and flight numbers on your eticket must match the dates and flight numbers on your booking.
• If there are multiple passengers on your booking, the online system will attempt to upgrade them all, and there may not be sufficient Miles in your account to do this. In this case, please call your nearest Emirates Contact Centre for help.

Some countries levy additional taxes or charges when you travel in a higher class. You will be informed of any additional charges when upgrading your booking.

If you are upgrading online, the additional taxes and charges must be paid for by credit card during the upgrade process. If you do not have a credit card, please get in touch with an Emirates Contact Centre to arrange for payment to be made at your local Emirates office or ticket desk.

All the benefits of the class of travel to which you have upgraded. These include extra baggage allowance, lounge access and Chauffeur drive service, where available (Chauffeur drive service should be requested at least 48 hours before flight departure). Please note that our Chauffeur drive service is not available for Premium Economy, Business Class and First Class Classic Rewards tickets, as well as when you upgrade from Economy Class to Premium Economy or Economy Class to Business Class or from Premium Economy to Business Class.

The fare conditions of your original ticket continue to apply at all times. For example, if there are any fees or charges applicable to your original ticket, these will continue to apply even after upgrading with Miles.

This is currently not possible. You can only upgrade on flights marketed and operated by Emirates.

You can use your individual account to spend your Miles with our partners online or through your local Emirates Contact Centre. Browse our list of partners and choose how to spend your Miles. For the avoidance of doubt, Skywards Skysurfers, My Family and Business Rewards accounts are not eligible for financial partner conversions.

Yes, you can refund any unused Classic Reward ticket but you can’t endorse it to another airline. If you’re travelling on a Classic Reward ticket and your flight has been cancelled, you will be transferred to the next available flight or endorsed to another airline at the discretion of Emirates.  

Yes, you can make changes to your Classic Rewards booking online through Manage your booking or by calling your local Emirates Contact Centre.

It is not possible to combine Miles from two separate accounts; you can, however, transfer Miles between accounts or buy Miles for yourself or gift to another member. Although your Skywards Miles must be redeemed before they expire, you can use them to book a reward ticket that is valid for up to 12 months. This means that even if you can’t travel before your Miles expire, you can still redeem them now for a future trip.

Yes, you can upgrade your Saver ticket with your Skywards Miles during online check-in, which opens 48 hours before your flight departs.

Not always. Classic rewards and upgrade rewards are two different flight rewards with different allocations and availability rules, so one being available doesn’t guarantee the other will be.

Our Upcoming Travel tool displays your next few trips on Emirates only. To see your upcoming trips on flydubai, this can be displayed when you are logged in on flydubai.com. Reward bookings on Emirates (flights purchased using Skywards Miles) will not appear in Upcoming Travel – you can see these in Manage your booking, by logging in with your last name and booking reference.

In addition, Emirates Flights may not show up in Upcoming Travel if:

• The first name or last name entered at the time of the booking does not match the name in your Emirates Skywards account; for example, ‘Will’ instead of ‘William’.
• Your Emirates Skywards membership number is not associated with the booking. To update this, please add your Emirates Skywards membership number in Manage your booking.
• You are logged in to your Emirates Skywards account on flydubai.com.

You can update your information at any time simply by logging into your Emirates Skywards account.Go to My profile and update or edit your information, including your nationality, passport number or country of issue through Manage My Account.

Skywards Miles are the reward currency you earn as an Emirates Skywards member. You can earn Skywards Miles when you fly with Emirates and flydubai, as well as when you are a customer of our global partners, including partner airlines, banks, car hire agencies, hotels, and lifestyle and retail companies.

Your Skywards Miles are valid for three years from the date of travel. Within the calendar year that Skywards Miles are due to expire, they will be removed from your account at the end of the month in which you were born.

For example, if you earned Miles in June 2019 and your birthday is in August, these Miles will expire on 31st August 2022.

You can set automated messages from your My Account page to remind you when Skywards Miles are due to expire.

Whilst Skywards Miles can be used to buy rewards, Tier Miles are collected to help you move up membership tiers, and are only earned when you fly with Emirates and flydubai or on a codeshare flight that carries an Emirates flight number (EK). You can’t earn Tier Miles with our partners.

Your origin is the airport where you start each leg of your journey, and your destination is the airport where you end each leg of your journey. So, if you’re flying a return trip from London to Auckland, your outbound flight has an origin of London and a destination of Auckland; on your return flight, the origin is Auckland and the destination is London. Stopovers are not counted as a destination.

As an Emirates Skywards member you no longer need to have a physical card in order to enjoy all the benefits of membership. Simply quote your membership number to continue to earn and redeem Miles. If you choose to delete your Emirates Skywards account or terminate your membership, please note the following:

• Unused Skywards Miles and rewards: All of your unused Miles and rewards, along with any benefits or privileges associated with your membership, will be immediately forfeited and rendered null and void. These forfeited Miles and rewards have no cash value and cannot be redeemed or refunded.
• Skywards+ subscription: If you have an active Skywards+ subscription, it will be terminated without refund.
• Linked accounts: Any linked accounts, such as Skysurfers or My Family accounts (if you are the Family Head), will automatically be terminated or de-linked upon deletion of your Emirates Skywards account.
• Business Rewards accounts: Any Business Rewards account registered using your Emirates Skywards Account credentials will no longer be accessible with those credentials. For more details, please refer to the Business Rewards terms and conditions.

There are several ways in which your travelling companions might benefit from your membership when they travel with you.

An Emirates Skywards member of any tier can buy instant upgrade rewards with Skywards Miles at the check-in desk or on board the aircraft for companions who are travelling with them on the same flight.

Emirates Skywards members can invite guests within their existing complimentary guest access entitlement or purchase additional lounge access for guests travelling on the same Emirates flight to join them in the Dubai International airport lounges.

Travelling companions of Platinum members may also benefit from priority baggage delivery, subject to availability. Platinum members may nominate another Emirates Skywards member for a complimentary Gold Partner card.

If you are a Gold or Platinum member, we will guarantee you an Economy Class seat on your Emirates chosen flight*, even if you don’t already have a ticket. You don’t have to wait for the flight to be full; we’ll confirm your seat when the cabin is full. If you are a Gold or Platinum member, we will guarantee you an Economy Class seat on your Emirates chosen flight, even if you don’t already have a ticket. Some commercial fares may not be eligible for the reserved booking priority benefit but can be upgraded for an additional charge. Please check with our Contact Centre. You don’t have to wait for the flight to be full; we’ll confirm your seat when the cabin is full.

For our Platinum members, we will also do our best to confirm a Business Class seat. However, during major holidays and special events this may not be possible on some flights.

To use your reserved booking priority benefit, just call our Contact Centre at least 48 hours before the flight. Our agents will review your ticket to make sure it is an eligible commercial Flex Plus fare. If it’s not, they can upgrade your ticket over the phone. If you don’t already have a ticket, they’ll create a new booking using an eligible fare.

Our Platinum members can redeem Skywards Miles for a Business Class or Economy Class Flex Plus reward ticket, even on high-demand flights with restricted availability. 

Eligible Emirates Skywards members may nominate another member for a Gold membership. This could be a spouse, family member, friend or business colleague. The nominating member must choose their Gold Partner within their 12-month tier cycle. Members wishing to nominate a Gold Partner can enter the last name and membership number of their nominee in the form on the Membership benefits page of their account. In the event of any technical issues, please call an Emirates Contact Centre.

The Gold Partner membership will be linked to the nominating member for as long as the nominating member retains his or her Platinum tier status. However, if the nominating member is downgraded, the Gold Partner will keep their Gold status until their next tier review date, at which point they will retain Gold status only if they have achieved 50,000 Tier Miles, or flown 50 qualifying flights.

You can change your nominee when you requalify for Platinum, but only after your current Gold Partner has completed their own tier cycle. Just make sure the auto-renew check box is un-ticked in the Gold Partner section of your Benefits page. We recommend you nominate someone who is unlikely to experience the benefits of Gold based on their own travel. If your Gold Partner achieves Platinum status in his/her own right, you can nominate a new Gold Partner.

You can choose to automatically renew your Gold Partner anytime within their tier cycle by ticking the auto-renew check box in the Gold Partner section of your Benefits page. If you do not wish to renew your Gold Partner simply leave the auto-renew check box unticked. Once your current Gold Partner’s tier cycle is completed you will be able to nominate a new Gold Partner.

If you are a Blue, Silver, Gold or Platinum member, upgrades on Emirates flights can only be obtained in exchange for Skywards Miles or for cash, where applicable.

Any Emirates Skywards member can spend Skywards Miles on instant upgrades at the check in desk or take advantage of this service on board the aircraft. You can also spend your Miles on instant upgrades for travelling companions. Simply ask one of our check in staff or crew members to assist you.

Please note that instant upgrades are subject to seat and catering availability as well as applicable upgrade restrictions*. If you upgrade at the check in desk, you will continue to enjoy the benefits of your upgraded class of travel (airport lounge access and additional baggage allowances). However, these benefits are not applicable for instant upgrade on board. Instant upgrades are currently not available to Skysurfers.

Depending on the zones you are flying through and where you stopover or transit, it may be possible to upgrade just one section of your journey.

If you are travelling on a multi-flight journey where partial upgrading is allowed and you would like to use your Skywards Miles for an instant upgrade at the check-in desk, you will also need to make additional requests at any transfer desks or stopover destinations. Please ask for more details when you first check in.

Please note that on some multi-flight journeys, you will be upgraded only if seats are available on the entire journey. Please call your nearest Emirates Contact Centre regarding a specific booking.

If you upgrade online or at check-in you will receive the excess baggage allowance applicable to the class of your upgrade. Please read the FAQ to see where exceptions to excess baggage allowances may apply due to airport regulations.

If you are travelling on multiple flights during one journey, an upgraded baggage allowance only applies to the part of the journey that has been upgraded. On the other flights during the journey, you will need to either upgrade again or pay the extra fee for the heavier baggage.

If you have confirmed an upgrade at least 48 hours before you travel then you will be able to choose a meal from the menu in your upgraded cabin class. If you have upgraded less than 48 hours prior to your flight, or if you take advantage of our instant upgrade service at the check-in desk or on board, then we will do our best to accommodate you with a meal from the upgraded cabin class menu.

If meals are not available, we will serve you your meal from the original booking class menu.

Please note that this does not apply to dietary meals; for example, if you have ordered a vegetarian or gluten-free meal in advance, this will be served from the original booking class menu.

No, Skywards Members will earn Miles as per the original ticketed class of travel. No additional Miles will be awarded to the member in case of on board upgrades paid for with cash.

Due to the limited notice period of an instant upgrade, we won’t be able to offer this additional service. However, if you upgrade at least 48 hours before travel using our online Manage your Booking facility or through an Emirates Contact Centre, then the Chauffeur-drive service will be available to you. Please note that our Chauffeur-drive service is not available on Premium Economy, Business Class and First Class Classic Rewards tickets, as well as Economy Class to Premium Economy Upgrade Rewards, or Economy Class to Business Class Upgrade Rewards or Premium Economy to Business Class Upgrade Rewards. Instant upgrades are currently not available to Skysurfers.

You will need to have sufficient Skywards Miles in your account at the check-in desk or on board to get an instant upgrade. As Miles are only credited to your account after you complete a journey, we cannot factor in the Miles earned on the journey you are currently taking.

This is possible, but you cannot do this at the check-in desk. To top up your Miles for future travel please go to the Buy Miles page.

An unaccompanied minor can be upgraded before a flight by using the online Manage a Booking facility. It is also possible to upgrade an unaccompanied minor if a relative, parent or guardian uses Skywards Miles from their own account to buy an instant upgrade at the check-in desk.

No. We are always working to ensure that our members have as seamless a journey as possible. As part of this, we have removed the need for you to possess or present a physical membership card – giving you one less thing to remember when you travel.

Giving you a digital version of the card provides a more convenient and seamless way for you to access your membership details. You can add it to your Apple Wallet, print your card, or save it to your device’s photo or image library for quick access.

Gold members can access all Emirates Business Class Lounges and affiliated lounges across the network.

Platinum Members

Platinum members can access Emirates First Class Lounges and Business Class Lounges in Dubai International, Plus Business Class Lounges across the Emirates network,

Additionally, as a Platinum member, you can take a companion plus two minors travelling on the same Emirates flight into our worldwide lounges with you. You can also pay to invite extra guests to join you.

Emirates Skywards Gold and Platinum members can access the flydubai Business Class lounges in Dubai and lounges across the flydubai network.

• At Dubai Terminal 2, complimentary access for yourself to the flydubai Business Class lounge.
• At Dubai Terminal 3, complimentary access for you and one guest to Emirates Business Class lounges in Concourse B & C (based on departure gate).

Platinum Members

• At Dubai Terminal 2, complimentary access for yourself to the flydubai Business Class lounge.
• At Dubai Terminal 3, complimentary access for you and your guests to Emirates First Class lounge in Concourse B & C (based on departure gate).
• Worldwide (except Dubai), complimentary access for yourself to flydubai partner lounges.

Emirates Skywards Silver members are not eligible to access flydubai lounge

Lounge benefits will be granted based on the frequent flyer number quoted in your booking. To access the above lounge benefits as per your tier, please make sure to quote your Emirates Skywards membership number in your booking. With the exception of Qantas and flydubai, you will not be able to access the lounge if a partner / other airline frequent flyer number has been quoted in your booking.

Please note that all members travelling on flights operated by other carriers (including Emirates codeshare flights), other than Qantas and flydubai, are not eligible to access the Emirates Lounges.

When travelling under weight concept on Emirates and flydubai flights only, Emirates Skywards Silver members are entitled to a guaranteed excess baggage allowance of 12 kg above the ticketed limit for a particular cabin class, Gold members are guaranteed 16 kg above the ticketed limit and Platinum members are guaranteed 20 kg above the ticketed limit. However, please note the following:

• The maximum weight per checked-in item of luggage is 32 kg on all cross-Atlantic flights
• Economy Class baggage to the US cannot weigh more than 23 kg or 50 lb per item.
• Maximum weight limits per bag may vary in accordance with differing international airport regulations.
• Excess baggage privileges do not apply to cabin baggage or on flights in which the baggage allowance is given as 'number of luggage items’, instead of kilogrammes.

When travelling on the piece concept on Emirates flights only, Emirates Skywards Platinum and Gold Members are eligible for 1 additional piece of checked baggage at 23kg per piece in Economy Class and 32kg per piece in Business and First Class over and above the baggage allowance shown on the ticket. The maximum allowance in any cabin shall not exceed 3 pieces of checked baggage.

If your journey starts in the United States, or in Africa, please make sure you are aware of baggage allowances specific to this route.

Emirates Skywards additional free baggage allowance applies only on flights operated by Emirates and flydubai. This benefit does not apply to codeshare flights operated by other airlines and also in the case of itineraries that involve other airline flights.

Your travel coordinator will not have access to your online account unless you share your account credentials with them.

Travel coordinators are not entitled to any membership privileges from your account. However, they can always join the Emirates Skywards programme themselves to start enjoying the benefits.

If you’re an Emirates Skywards Platinum or Gold member, you and everyone in your booking (under the same booking number) will enjoy complimentary advance seat selection. This applies even if you book an Economy Class Special or Saver fare or an Economy Class Classic Saver Reward. Complimentary advance seat selection is applicable only on selected seat types

If you’re an Emirates Skywards Silver member, it’s free to reserve your seat in advance. However, anyone else in your booking will have to pay the Advance Seat Reservation charge.

If you’re an Emirates Skywards Blue member, you will have to pay if you want to choose your seat before online check-in opens.

If you’re travelling in First Class or Business Class, you can choose your seat from the moment you purchase your ticket at no extra charge.

The fare is the price paid for your ticket. Different cabins have different fare types. You can choose from Special, Saver, Flex or Flex Plus in Economy Class and Business Class, Flex Plus in Premium Economy and Flex or Flex Plus in First Class. The type of fare you choose in each cabin will influence the number of Miles you will earn.

Base Miles are the standard Miles earned on any Emirates ticket. The benchmark for base Miles is an Economy Class Flex Plus ticket, which represents 100% of base Miles.

Using our Miles Calculator, you can view the total Miles earned on a particular ticket. Total Miles are made up of base Miles for the zone(s) you are flying in plus the various cabin class and tier bonuses on offer.

Yes you do. We remain one of the few frequent flyer programmes to offer reward Miles on all fares, which applies to both Skywards Miles and Tier Miles. Classic Reward tickets are not eligible for accrual of Skywards Miles or Tier Miles.

The fare type will be clearly displayed when you search for flights on emirates.com. It will show the price, fare conditions and the Miles that you will earn. If you are logged in as an Emirates Skywards member, you can even view flight-specific bonuses.

Fare types are not restricted by the class you travel in. When you are searching for or booking a flight, you will clearly see which types of fares are available. You can choose from Special, Saver, Flex or Flex Plus in Economy Class and Business Class, Flex Plus in Premium Economy and Flex or Flex Plus in First Class. You can also find featured fares in every class of travel.

When flying Emirates or flydubai, Silver members receive 30% bonus Skywards Miles, Gold members receive 75% bonus Skywards Miles and Platinum members receive 100% bonus. On Emirates flights, the percentage is calculated from the Economy Flex Plus earning level on the ticket purchased. On flydubai flights the percentage bonus is calculated from the Economy Flex earning level.

If your ticket is split between different fare types, you will earn a different number of Miles for each part of your journey that is booked on a different fare. 

Our Special and Saver fares are our most affordable fares, but Flex and Flex Plus fares offer extra benefits. You’ll earn more Skywards and Tier Miles on a Flex or Flex Plus fare, so you can reach your next reward or the next tier faster. You also have more flexibility to change or cancel your ticket, and you need fewer Skywards Miles to upgrade to a higher cabin class.

If you’re travelling in Economy Class on a Flex or Flex Plus fare you won’t have to pay for Advance Seat Reservation.

Miles are credited to your account after you’ve physically flown from your origin airport to your destination airport. They are credited in two stages, firstly when you have finished the outbound part of your trip and again when you have completed the inbound voyage. So if you fly from London to Sydney return, you are credited Miles once you arrive in Sydney and again when you return to London.

Stopovers have no effect on the amount of Miles earned and are not counted as a destination. So, if you stopover in Dubai on your way to Sydney from London, you would still only receive your Miles credit once you arrive in Sydney.

If you do not complete all your ticketed flights (for instance if part of your ticket is refunded or voided), we will credit Miles for any flights you have flown as soon as you submit the remainder of your ticket for cancellation or refund. An Emirates Contact Centre can assist you with this.

You can collect Skywards Miles just by making purchases with your credit card. If you have an Emirates co-branded credit card with Al Ahli Bank of Kuwait, Citibank, Emirates Islamic Bank, Emirates NBD, Citi Bahrain, Citi Australia, Citi UAE, Standard Chartered Bank Pakistan, Standard Chartered Bank Pakistan or Standard Chartered Bank India, we will automatically credit your Emirates Skywards account with any Miles you have earned each month.

If you hold a credit card with one of our other bank partners, please contact your credit card provider for more information or to ask for points to be transferred to your Emirates Skywards account.

Tier Miles are calculated at the same rate as Skywards Miles; taking into account the fare you have paid, the route and the class of travel. Please note that you can’t earn Tier Miles through our partners, only on Emirates flights, flydubai flights and codeshare flights marketed by Emirates but operated by another airline.

Tier Miles are valid for up to 13 months from the date you start earning, which is usually your first flight as an Emirates Skywards member either on Emirates, flydubai or on a codeshare flight marketed by Emirates but operated by another airline. If you receive Tier Miles from a backdated claim, they will be valid from the date of the flight.

Tier Miles cannot be transferred or bought. They are only earned when you fly with Emirates, flydubai or on codeshare flights marketed by Emirates but operated by another airline.

If you are looking to retain your tier status or you want to move up a tier, you might like to consider upselling your fare brand or upgrading your cabin class on your next flight to benefit from a Business Class or First Class Bonus.

Yes, you’ll always earn more Tier Miles on our Flex and Flex Plus fares than on a Special or Saver fare.

To move up to the next tier you need to earn sufficient Tier Miles or take enough qualifying flights during the tier qualification period.

• To reach Silver membership, you need to collect 25,000 Tier Miles (or take 25 qualifying flights).
• To reach Gold membership, you need to collect 50,000 Tier Miles (or take 50 qualifying flights).
• To reach Platinum membership, you need to collect 150,000 Tier Miles and at least one qualifying flight* in First Class or Business Class.
  *Effective 1 April 2023.

A ‘qualifying flight’ is a flight from origin to destination, either on Emirates, flydubai or a codeshare flight marketed by Emirates but operated by another airline.

Your origin is the airport where you start your journey, and your destination is the final airport where you complete your journey. So a qualifying flight could be a complete inbound or outbound journey, or a one-way flight. Stopovers are not counted as a destination.

Tier qualification happens when you have collected enough Tier Miles or you have flown enough qualifying flights to either keep your tier or move up to the next level.

At the time of your review, we count up how many Tier Miles you have accumulated or how many qualifying flights you have taken. If you have enough, we then promote you to the next status level or keep you in your current tier. If you haven’t qualified, you drop a tier level.

Regardless of whether you drop a tier, keep your tier or move up a tier in your review, we don’t wait another year to reassess your Tier Miles balance, but instead we check it every month. That way, we keep giving you the chance to qualify or move up a tier by ‘rolling over’ your tier qualification period. So, at the end of each month we count up your Tier Miles or qualifying flights over the previous 12 months to reassess your status. This rolling assessment gives you 12 opportunities during every year to move up a tier, instead of just one.

There are two ways to retain your tier:

1. Earn enough Tier Miles by flying with Emirates, flydubai or on a codeshare flight marketed by Emirates but operated by another airline.
2. Take the required number of qualifying flights* with Emirates and flydubai. Take the required number of qualifying flights with Emirates and flydubai. A ‘qualifying flight’ is a flight on Emirates, flydubai or a codeshare flight marketed by Emirates but operated by another airline, between the point of origin and point of destination of an outward or return journey.

Once you have reached a new tier you have a fixed 12-month period in which to earn the Tier Miles you need to keep your status. During this time, you would need to save 25,000 Tier Miles or take 25 qualifying flights to remain in Silver, 50,000 Tier Miles or 50 qualifying flights to remain in Gold and 150,000 Tier Miles and at least one qualifying flight* in First Class or Business Class to remain in Platinum.

Regardless of how many Tier Miles you have earned or flights you have flown, your card validity and benefits are extended beyond the tier review date by an extra two months, even if you have not qualified to stay in your tier.

For example, if you achieve Silver membership on 17th June 2016, your tier review date will be at the end of June 2017, but you can still use your Silver card to enjoy extended benefits until the end of August 2017, even if you do not retain your tier.

Tier reviews always take place at the end of a month.

Yes, you can progress to a new tier either by collecting enough Tier Miles, or by taking enough qualifying flights.

The thresholds for each tier are as follows:

• Silver: 25,000 Tier Miles or 25 qualifying flights
• Gold: 50,000 Tier Miles or 50 qualifying flights
• Platinum: 150,000 Tier Miles and at least one qualifying flight* in First Class or Business Class

No. Tier status can only be earned by accumulating Tier Miles or by taking enough qualifying flights.

Different cabin classes have different fare types. You can choose from Special, Saver, Flex or Flex Plus in Economy Class and Business Class, Flex Plus in Premium Economy and Flex or Flex Plus in First Class. The type of fare you choose in each cabin class will influence the number of Miles you will earn. If you choose Flex or Flex Plus fares, you can reach your next tier faster.

You won’t earn additional Tier Miles for being a Silver, Gold or Platinum member. However, you can earn extra Tier Miles by travelling Business Class or First Class or choosing a Flex or Flex Plus fare.

Silver, Gold and Platinum members are eligible for two personalised luggage tags per tier cycle. Skywards Skysurfers members are also eligible.

Silver, Gold and Platinum members can get their luggage tags printed at the Business Class lounges at Dubai Airport. Platinum members will continue to receive their packs along with their personalised luggage tags.

If you’re an Emirates Skywards Silver or Gold member, you can collect your tags from the Skywards Team at Dubai Airport (new Emirates Skywards Centre in the Duty-free area, Concourse B). If you’re a Platinum member, you will continue to receive your luggage tags in a Skywards pack couriered to you. You can request your tags at any point during your tier cycle. For Skywards Skysurfers members, the registered parent or guardian needs to request the tags on behalf of the Skywards Skysurfer

Effective 30 November 2018, any Skywards Miles belonging to a Platinum member will not expire for as long he/she retains membership of the Platinum tier. If you are a Platinum member, you will see an adjusted expiry date whenever you have any Skywards Miles that were originally due to expire during your current Platinum tier cycle. This adjusted date will show as two (2) months after your next Platinum tier review date.

For example: if a Platinum member (with next tier review date of 31 August 2019) has Skywards Miles due to originally expire on 31 January 2019 as per standard expiry, this member will see an adjusted expiry date of 31 October 2019 (calculated as 2 months after the upcoming tier review date).

Similarly, when a Platinum member retains their Platinum membership for another year, any unused Skywards Miles that were extended in their last Platinum cycle will again be extended to two (2) months after their next Platinum tier review date. The only time Skywards Miles that were extended on account of the member being Platinum will expire is if and when a member downgrades to Gold and has yet to redeem such Miles. Once you’ve created your My Family account, you’ll see the option to invite up to seven members. If you’re adding members aged 18 or over, simply enter their details and we’ll send them an invitation by email.

If you’re adding a child, they can be added without an invitation as long as they’re already a Skysurfer and the Family Head is their parent or guardian.

Infants can also be added to make redemptions easier, but they can’t earn or contribute Skywards Miles to My Family.

An invitation email will only expire 14 days after a Family Head sends it (validity of email will be mentioned on the email sent to the member).

Family Head may withdraw the invitation prior to it being accepted.

When an invitation email is sent, it will direct the individual to the Emirates Skywards login/Join now page. The individual will then need to login to their account or join the Emirates Skywards Programme.

Skywards Miles can be redeemed from the My Family account for Classic Reward flights, on flights where Cash+Miles is offered, for Instant Upgrades at check‑in, with selected retail and lifestyle partners* (as offered by Emirates and our Partners), to donate Skywards Miles to support Emirates Airline Foundation initiatives, and on selected Skywards Exclusives events (subject to the Skywards Exclusives terms and conditions set out in these Programme Rules in respect of Skywards Exclusives). Emirates may amend the partner list at any time.

In the event of the death of a Family Head Emirates Skywards may, in its sole discretion, reinstate the deceased Member’s available Miles in the ‘My Family’ account to the credit of his/her legal beneficiaries provided that his/her ‘My Family’ account holds a minimum balance of 2,000 Miles at the time of receipt by Emirates Skywards of any application for such Miles.

Similar to the Skywards Miles in your individual account, the Miles in your My Family account will be valid for three years from the date of travel.

The expiry date is linked to the birth month of the individual member who contributed the Miles. For example, if you earned the Miles you contributed in May 2023 and your birthday is in August, these Miles will expire on 31 August 2026.

You can regularly check the My Family dashboard to see if you have Miles expiring soon.

No, you can’t use the Skywards Miles in your My Family account on Discounted Cabin Upgrades offered as part of your Exclusive Platinum Privileges.

The benefits are similar to the Emirates Skywards programme. A Skysurfer can achieve Silver or Gold status, and enjoy the extra benefits of that tier, in exactly the same way as an Emirates Skywards member. Skysurfers are not eligible for Platinum membership.

Skywards Skysurfers Silver members:

• Eligibility – Emirates Business Class Lounge access only in Dubai for self ONLY if accompanied by an adult (over 18) who is eligible to access the lounge in their own right. NO guest access allowed.

Skywards Skysurfers Gold members:

• Eligibility – Emirates Business Class Lounge access in Dubai and across the network for self + one guest who must be an adult (over 18) OR who is eligible to access the lounge in their own right.

Skysurfers can move up to Silver and Gold tiers in exactly the same way as Emirates Skywards members. However, there is no equivalent Platinum tier for Skysurfers.

Yes, however, this online functionality is only available to the one registered parent/guardian who is an Emirates Skywards member and have their child’s account linked to their account. Once you are logged in to your linked account on emirates.com, you can view a drop-down list that allows you to select from account numbers before making the reward booking.

Skywards Skysurfers can spend their Miles on Emirates flights and with selected airline partners. If you’ve linked the Skysurfers member’s account to yours and you are the registered parent/guardian managing the account, you can choose which account to spend Miles from. You can also chat with us or call your local Emirates Contact Centre if you need help with booking your flight.

You can earn Skywards Miles with registered Visa and Mastercard credit and debit cards with the Visa or Mastercard symbol, including cards registered with Apple Pay, Samsung Pay, Android Pay and other payment wallets.

Eligible Visa payment cards include all internationally issued payment cards bearing the Visa symbol in markets where Visa supports card linking.

Eligible Mastercard payment cards include cards with the Mastercard symbol issued in markets that support card linking, including Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, Denmark, Germany, Qatar, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom and United States of America.

Skywards Miles cannot be earned on transactions made using any of the following payment cards: Amex, Diners Club, retailer store cards and gift cards.

Yes, you can earn Skywards Miles on the total amount you paid after any discounts have been applied. For example, if you received a 20% discount on a bill of AED 100, you will earn Skywards Miles on the remaining amount of AED 80.

Please note that Skywards Miles will not be awarded on government taxes.

Skywards Miles earned for eligible purchases will be credited to your Emirates Skywards membership account after the transaction has been processed and verified by the payment network (Visa or MasterCard), this can take up to 7 days. Where select participating partners offer a full refund, Skywards Miles will be credited to your membership account after the refund period, providing the purchase has not been cancelled or refunded.

If a Skywards Everyday partner has a refund policy offering a full refund, your Miles will be ’Pending’ in the ’My Statement’ page, until the refund policy period has ended. Skywards Miles will be credited to your membership account after the refund period, providing the purchase has not been cancelled or refunded. 

Where Skywards Miles have not been credited for an eligible transaction, you are requested to contact Emirates via the Help section on emirates.com, providing your credit or debit card purchase receipt (the small receipt).

The Skywards Everyday partners listed below have policies offering a full refund. Your Miles will be ’Pending’ in the ’My Statement’ page, until the refund policy period has ended. Skywards Miles will be credited to your membership account after the refund period listed below, providing the purchase has not been cancelled or refunded.

If you are not already an Emirates Skywards member or a member of the conversion partner programme you must create an account in each programme. Your name and date of birth must match in both Emirates Skywards and the conversion partner’s programme profiles. Make sure you have your credit or debit card saved in your Skywards Everyday App before you start linking the conversion partner’s programme account.

Yes. You can use your Upgrade Rewards benefit for your travel companions. When you book your Upgrade Rewards on emirates.com or at check-in, Miles will be deducted from your account for all or selected passengers in the same booking or flight. You can also book Upgrade Rewards through emirates.com for other passengers even if you’re not travelling with them. However, you can only use this benefit for other passengers at check-in if you’re also travelling.
