Flights to Santiago

Flights to Santiago land you in a lush valley surrounded by the Chilean Coast Range and the snowy Andes. This South American city is home to an eclectic mix of commerce, art and culture – with a colonial history that’s evident in many of its populous neighbourhoods.

Every part of Santiago has something different to offer. Its rich history has given rise to numerous bohemian barrios – each with unique cafes, restaurants, street art, buskers, artisan shops and chill hangouts. Visit the Italia, Bellavista, Lastarria, Alonso de Córdoba and Providencia districts for relaxed wanderlust days. And for more cultural experiences in Santiago, you can satisfy your curiosity for Latin American history and art at the Centro Cultural Gabriela Mistral.

To delve even further into Santiago’s past, head to the Historic Center. Also known as the Plaza de Armas (Main Square), it’s aptly named for its heritage buildings and monuments. The National History Museum, Santiago City Hall, Cathedral and Court Houses are all within walking distance. Take a stroll through Paseo Ahumada for a shopping and food break, or simply sit back and enjoy a beverage while observing the everyday lives of locals.

The most important meal in Chile is lunch, so midday you’ll want to head to the markets. We recommend La Vega – Santiago’s most popular food market. Food is a staple of the authentic Chilean experience, and it’s here that you’ll find popular Chilean dishes like pino-filled meat pies, Chilean empanadas and batter-fried congrio (pink cusk-eel). Wash it all down with a mote con huesillo – a chilled summer drink made from rehydrated peaches, husked wheat and cinnamon.

If you enjoy the outdoors, Santiago’s natural surroundings will satisfy your need for lush spaces and open skies – whether you’re at the top of a mountain or in the heart of the city. The Cerro San Cristobal Park in the city centre houses a zoo, cultural monuments, municipal pools and a Japanese style garden. And for the more adventurous, there’s skiing, trekking and kayaking adventures in the nearby Andes.

Like any major city, the list of things to do in Santiago is never-ending. From mountain trekking to food and cultural festivals, there are multiple ways to take in both the traditional and modern lifestyles of Chileans. And our flights to Santiago stop in São Paulo on the way, giving you more options for flights to and from Brazil.

Terria Patagonia, Chile

Patagonia is a land of sublime landscapes, howling winds and towering mountains. Nestled on the shore of Lake Sarmiento, on the edge of Torres del Paine National Park, it’s hard to distinguish the Tierra Patagonia resort, built entirely from indigenous lenga wood, from the surrounding landscape. Floor-to-ceiling windows in the minimalist rooms and the cavernous restaurant-cum-lounge frame awe-inspiring views of the Paine Massif, while indigenous wildlife such as guanacos and rheas (Patagonian ostriches) stroll past Read more Terria Patagonia, Chile
