Emirates offers special assistance to make traveling more comfortable and convenient for our youngest flyers and their families, at every stage of their journeys. You can find out how about our services for people flying with young children on our Traveling with Babies and Infants page. If you’re traveling with children between the ages of 12 and 15, check our Young Flyers page.
What are the rules and regulations for passengers traveling with young children and infants?
You can carry an infant younger than 2 years old on your lap. We'll give you a special seat belt extension. If you’re flying with a child older than 2, you'll need to buy a child's fare and the child will have his or her own seat.
If you're bringing your own child safety belt or seat (known as a child restraint device or CRD), it must have a label to show that it's approved for use in an aircraft by
Using car seats on the plane
You can use an infant car seat on the flight, but you'll need to book a separate seat and pay a child's fare.
If you bring a car seat on your flight, the check-in staff will verify that it carries a label showing that it's approved for use on an aircraft, along with the instructions for use. We'll accept car seats that have been approved to these safety standards:
If your car seat doesn't meet these safety requirements, you can check it with your other baggage.
Infants weighing less than 10 kg can travel in either a forward- or rear-facing car seat; infants weighing more than 10 kg must travel in a forward-facing seat.
Installing your car seat on board
Our cabin crew will help you to install your car seat according to the instructions on the label. It must face the appropriate direction, and it must be secured using the lap belt. We can't accept car seats that need to be secured by a three-point seat belt or shoulder harness.
If your car seat is designed to fit a seat using rigid bar lower anchorages (ISO-FX or the US equivalent), it can only be used on an aircraft seat equipped with the correct connecting devices to secure it, and it can't be attached by the lap seat belt.
Our bassinets are approximately 75 x 33 x 22 cm (29.5 x 13 x 8.8 inches) and can hold babies weighing up to 11 kg (24.2 lbs). While our bassinets are designed for babies up to two years old, we won’t be able to provide one if your baby doesn’t fit safely.
