Biometric path at DXB
Instead of reaching for your passport and boarding pass, you can walk through Dubai International airport using biometric facial recognition.
The revolutionary Biometric Smart Zones in Emirates Terminal 3 make it simple, secure and faster to check in, clear immigration, enter our Concourse B lounge and board your flight.
Our biometric zones are marked with signs through the airport. You can currently use Emirates Biometrics at these points:
- Emirates Terminal 3, Dubai International airport
- Check-in desks and self check-in kiosks
- Emirates Lounge and boarding gates
- Emirates City Check-in and Travel Store in Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC)
- The Emirates app for Emirates Skywards members
Register for biometrics
Important information
You can register using the Emirates app or in person at our check-in desks in Dubai.
You must be 18 years or above to register and you must give your consent individually. You cannot register consent on behalf of another person. Once you’re registered, you can walk through the Biometric Smart Zones whenever you fly to and from Dubai International airport.
Using the Emirates App
If you're a member of Emirates Skywards, follow the below steps to register using the app.
If you already have your passport information saved in your Emirates Skywards profile, it must match the passport information you use to register for Emirates Biometrics. If there's a mismatch, we'll ask you to update your Emirates Skywards profile during the Emirates Biometrics registration to ensure data integrity and security. Your Emirates Skywards profile will not be affected in any other way by using Emirates Biometrics.
Step 1
Scan your passport. If it's a chip passport, it will ask you to scan the chip. The chip can be in different locations on each passport, so make sure you're familiar with where the chip is on your passport so the scan will work.

Take a selfie to match with your Emirates Skywards profile.Step 3
To complete the registration, give your consent for Emirates to use your facial image, passport details and biometric profile stored in the UAE General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs database.
Using biometrics throughout Dubai International
Biometric check-in
Once you’re registered, you can use biometric facial recognition at our self check-in kiosks whenever you fly from Dubai. Simply follow the onscreen instructions. You can also use biometrics at Connections when you’re transferring to another Emirates flight.
Biometric Smart Gates in Dubai
Skip the queues at Immigration by registering for the Smart Gates at Emirates Terminal 3. You can fly through every time you arrive and depart from Dubai. Simply step into the Smart Gate, wait for a quick photo and continue to security or baggage collection in seconds.
You can use the Smart Gates if you're a UAE citizen or resident, or a GCC national or visa on arrival visitor with a biometric passport. Check if you’re eligible for the Smart Gates here.(Opens an external website in a new tab)
Biometric entry to the Emirates Lounge
You can enter our lounge on Concourse B through facial recognition at five entry points. Simply approach the gate, look at the camera and walk through to the lounge.
Biometric boarding
There’s no need to reach for your boarding pass, you can board faster with biometric facial recognition. Some of our departure gates on Concourses A, B and C have biometric boarding, with more coming soon.
You must be able to reach the facial scanner to use the biometric boarding gates, otherwise our team will be there to help you board in the usual way.
