The Hong Kong Open, co-sanctioned by the European Tour and Asian Tour, was founded in 1959, but has been part of the European Tour schedule only since 2001 with the exception of the 2013 season.

With a prize pot of USD 2,750,000, the UBS Hong Kong Open attracts some of the best players from around the world and provides a great platform for Emirates to profile their brand to a global golf audience. Since obtaining European Tour status, the event has been played at The Hong Kong Golf Club in Sheung Shui, New Territories.

The UBS Hong Kong Open, which is hosted annually around November or December, is one of the final tournaments on the European Tour schedule. Over the years, many of the world’s best golfers have won the UBS Hong Kong Open, including Bernhard Langer, José María Olazábal, Greg Norman, Tom Watson, Pádraig Harrington, Colin Montgomerie and Rory McIlroy. In 2012, Spain’s Miguel Ángel Jiménez won the tournament for the third time with a one shot victory over Fredrik Andersson Hed.

Emirates also sponsors the BMW International Open, the DP World Tour Championship, Alstom Open de France, Maybank Malaysian Open, Lyoness Open, the Irish Open, Ballantine’s Championship, the WGC HSBC Champions, the Boeing Classic, the Thailand Open, the Emirates Australian Open and the Australian PGA Championship.

DP World Tour Championship

In September 2012, Emirates strengthened its partnership with The European Tour by renewing its sponsorship of the golf season’s grand finale – the DP World Tour Championship in Dubai.

The DP World Tour Championship is the climax of The Race to Dubai, a season-long competition spanning 46 tournaments played in 25 different destinations across the globe, to decide who Europe’s Number One player is.

In the recent 2013 event, Henrik Stenson hailed a "dream season" as he claimed a historic double by storming to victory in the DP World Tour Championship in Dubai.

Stenson became the first man to win The Race to Dubai and FedEx Cup on the US PGA Tour thanks to a commanding six shot victory at Jumeirah Golf Estates.

The 37 year old carded a flawless closing 64, signing off in style with a tap-in eagle on the 18th, to finish with a tournament-record total of 25 under par, with money list rival Ian Poulter a close second following a 66.

Emirates also sponsors the BMW International Open, Alstom Open de France, Maybank Malaysian Open, Lyoness Open, the Irish Open, Ballantine’s Championship, the WGC HSBC Champions, the Hong Kong Open, the Boeing Classic, the Thailand Open, the Emirates Australian Open and the Australian PGA Championship.

BMW International Open

Germany is a key market for Emirates, so we are proud to be an official partner of The BMW International Open.

The BMW International Open is one of the marquee events on the European Tour schedule and the only one to be played in Germany. Founded in 1989, the BMW International Open has always been held in Munich and played at the Golfclub München Eichenried. However, from 2012 it was decided that the BMW International Open will alternate between Cologne and Munich.

Ernie Els held off the challenges of Thomas Björn and Alexander Levy to claim victory at the 2013 tournament.

Emirates currently flies into four German airports - Munich, Hamburg, Dusseldorf and Frankfurt. Subsequently, the relationship with the BMW International Open provides an important platform for Emirates to raise awareness and engage with existing and potential customers in Germany.

As part of the tournament programme, Emirates provided children and Golf AG students from the Dontaus-Schule in Pulheim-Brauweiler with an unforgettable experience during the “Emirates Golf Clinic”, receiving coaching tips from golfing superstar Sergio Garcia.

Emirates also sponsors the DP World Tour Championship, Alstom Open de France, Maybank Malaysian Open, Lyoness Open, the Irish Open, Ballantine’s Championship, the WGC HSBC Champions, the Hong Kong Open, the Boeing Classic, the Thailand Open, the Emirates Australian Open and the Australian PGA Championship.

WGC-HSBC Champions

The WGC-HSBC Champions is one of four tournaments with world golf championships status and Emirates is proud to have an association with this prestigious event.

The inaugural tournament was played in November 2005 at the Sheshan Golf Club, Shanghai – where the event still remains. In 2009 the WGC-HSBC Champions was awarded world golf championships status, meaning it’s the fourth tournament to be given that title on the worldwide golf calendar alongside the WGC-Accenture Match Play Championship, the WGC-Cadillac Championship and the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational events.

Outside of the four majors, the WGC-HSBC Champions attracts one of the strongest fields from across the globe. With a prize fund of $10,250,000 in 2019 and world golf championships status, the WGC-HSBC Champions is one not to be missed on the golfing calendar.

Emirates has been a partner in the event since it became the WGC-HSBC Champions in 2009.

Since its inception, the WGC-HSBC Champions has seen a number of high-profile winners including Phil Mickelson twice, Sergio Garcia, Francesco Molinari, Martin Kaymer and most recently Dustin Johnson.

Emirates Australian Open

Emirates is proud to be title sponsor of The Emirates Australian Open, one of the country’s premier golf events.

Emirates is the title sponsor of the Emirates Australian Open, one of the principal annual golf events on the PGA Tour of Australasia, and also the OneAsia Tour since its formation in 2009. The Emirates Australian Open has been played annually since 1904 and takes place towards the end of each calendar year. The 2013 tournament was staged at the Royal Sydney Golf Club with Rory McIlroy, Adam Scott, Jason Day and Aaron Baddeley just some of the top players in action.

In recent years the winner’s podium has been dominated by home golfers, but prior to their grip on the Stonehaven Cup, it had been won by some of the biggest names in golf. These include Gary Player, Jack Nicklaus, Arnold Palmer, Brad Faxon and Lee Westwood.

2013's tournament saw another European, Northern Ireland's Rory McIlroy, snatch the Emirates Australian Open title from the hands of Adam SCott to claim his first victory of the year.

Emirates also sponsors the BMW International Open, the DP World Tour Championship, Alstom Open de France, Maybank Malaysian Open, Lyoness Open, the Irish Open, Ballantine’s Championship, the WGC HSBC Champions, the Hong Kong Open, the Boeing Classic, the Thailand Open and the Australian PGA Championship.

The Irish Open

In 2012, Emirates became the Official Airline of the Irish Open, one of the European Tour’s premier events.

In 2012, Emirates signed its first sponsorship deal in Ireland by becoming the Official Airline of the Irish Open. The three-year partnership further demonstrated Emirates’ commitment to Ireland following the launch of the airline’s daily service linking Dublin and Dubai in January 2012.

Now widely regarded as one of the premier events on golf’s European Tour, the inaugural Irish Open was held in 1927 and has been played at a number of courses across the Emerald Isle. The 2012 tournament was hosted at the spectacular Royal Portrush Golf Club in County Antrim, the first time it had been contested in Northern Ireland for 59 years.

The 2013 event saw the tournament return to Carton House and a sensational return to form for Paul Casey with a brilliant closing round in tough conditions.

Emirates also sponsors the BMW International Open, the DP World Tour Championship, Alstom Open de France, Maybank Malaysian Open, Lyoness Open, Ballantine’s Championship, the WGC HSBC Champions, the Hong Kong Open, the Boeing Classic, the Thailand Open, the Emirates Australian Open and the Australian PGA Championship.
