Flights to Seychelles

When you think about the Seychelles, you’ll most likely imagine picture-perfect beaches and luxurious resorts filled with happy newlyweds. And that isn't far from the truth.

Flights to Seychelles connect through Mahé, the largest of the 115 islands that make up this unique country. It not only boasts the capital Victoria, but is also home to around 90% of the archipelago’s population.

In terms of where to stay, the island is home to more than just high-end hotels – and there’s a surprising array of budget-friendly, bed and breakfast, and self-catering options.

While the resorts tend to claim their own patches of sand, there are plenty of stunning public beaches too. It’s really just a matter of packing a picnic, picking a stretch of coast and settling in to soak up the sun and the views. And once you are done with beach life, there are lush jungles to explore, mountains to traverse and local markets where you can get your shopping fix and pick up some souvenirs.

Most of these markets are in the capital Victoria, which is worth a visit if you can drag yourself away from the resort. Party the night away with the locals or simply chill out at a shoreline lounge and watch the sun set as you dig into some of the best seafood you'll ever eat.

What to do in Seychelles

Take Teddy’s Glass-Bottom Boat

Combine a tour of the island coast with spectacular views of ocean life by chartering a glass-bottom boat. It’s a fantastic way to gain an insight into the underwater world of the Seychelles without having to dive or snorkel.

Explore Victoria at night

Victoria is certainly exciting enough to tempt you away from your resort. The central hub is the Eden Island Marina, where restaurants, street performers and lounges jostle for space.

Visit Seychelles National Botanical Gardens

Located on the outskirts of Victoria, these beautiful gardens were planted more than a century ago and are home to lots of wild animals, including giant tortoises and bats. The backdrop of fruit and palm trees creates a serene atmosphere and makes for a great family day out.

Where to eat in Seychelles

The Station Seychelles (International)

Almost entirely vegetarian, this cafe is part of a converted radio complex that boasts panoramic views of the surrounding islands. With an emphasis on local, healthy meals, the cafe reflects the tranquil nature of the whole development. It’s open for breakfast (try the pancakes) and lunch.

Veranda Café (Seafood)

As its name suggests, this restaurant is best enjoyed outside, watching the world go by. Towering trees line the quiet road, while on all sides you appear blocked in by the rolling green hills. On the table, fish wins the day while locals have long championed the desserts.

The Pirates Arms (International)

With its extensive menu, this restaurant in Victoria is perfect for grabbing a slice of pizza or a curry without blowing the bank. Local musicians play at the weekend and in the evening it transforms into a lounge, which is rather unique outside of a resort.
