Skywards Terms & Conditions

The Skywards frequent flyer programme (''Skywards'') is operated by Emirates. The Skywards website (the ''Website'') is offered to Skywards members conditioned on acceptance by the member of these Terms & Conditions. By accessing and using this Website, you have agreed to all such Terms & Conditions.

MODIFICATION OF PROGRAMME

Skywards is governed by the Skywards Programme Rules. Skywards reserves the right to change, modify or amend any part of the Skywards programme at any time in accordance with the Skywards Programme Rules. This right includes, but is not limited to, changes in Skywards partner affiliation, rules for earning and redeeming mileage credit, rules for use of travel awards, flight schedules and specific features of promotional offers.

The information published on this Website may be incomplete or include inaccuracies or typographical errors. Skywards does not represent or warrant that access to the Website will be uninterrupted or that there will be no failures, errors or omissions or loss of transmitted information, or that no viruses will be transmitted on this Website. This Website contains bulletin boards and other message or communication facilities, some of which are offered to Skywards' upper tier members only. Any opinions, views or statements expressed or made by a Skywards member in the course of using those facilities are those of that member and not of Skywards. Skywards is under no obligation to review any messages, information or content posted on the Website and assumes no responsibility or liability relating to any such submissions. Notwithstanding the above, Skywards reserves the right to review, edit or delete without notice any contents of the submissions received from members, including bulletin board postings, which it deems in its sole discretion to be illegal, offensive or otherwise inappropriate. Skywards reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to deny access to this Website or any portion of it without notice or liability.

SKYWARDS PROGRAMME RULES

PLEASE READ THESE PROGRAMME RULES CAREFULLY TO FAMILIARISE YOURSELF WITH THE BASIS UPON WHICH BENEFITS AND REWARDS MAY BE EARNED, AWARDED, VARIED OR CANCELLED.

1. Definitions and Interpretation
1.1In these Programme Rules:

Account means the account to/from which the Miles of a Member will be accrued/ deducted;

Base Miles means the Miles a Member earns for a Qualifying Flight(s) in Economy Class when they purchase a Skywards Flex Fare from one Skywards zone to another Skywards zone;

Class Bonus means the Miles a Member earns for a Qualifying Flight(s) in Business Class or First Class;

Emirates means Emirates, a Dubai corporation established by Decree No. 2 of 1985 (as amended);

Family Bonus Member means a person as defined in clause 14 of the Skywards Programme Rules;

Member means a person who has applied for membership of the Skywards frequent flyer programme and has been issued a membership number in this respect;

Membership Tier means a membership level in the Skywards frequent flyer programme;

Miles means points accrued by a Member under the Skywards frequent flyer programme based on the consumption of qualifying goods and services. Unless otherwise stated, this term encompasses both Skywards Miles and tier miles;

Personal Detail Bonus means Skywards Miles which may be awarded to a Member from time to time for updating their personal details at Skywards' request;

Qualifying Flight(s) means a flight(s) on Emirates, or a codeshare flight(s) marketed by Emirates but operated by another airline, between the point of origin and point of destination of the outward and/or return journey;

Reward means specified goods or services to be provided by Skywards or a Partner to a Member in exchange for Skywards Miles;

Partner means a provider of goods or services which is participating in Skywards from time to time, and may include airlines, hotels and resorts, financial, leisure & lifestyle service providers and car hire companies;

Skysurfers means the exclusive Skywards club for young Members between 2 and 16 years of age;

Skywards means, as the context requires, Emirates operating a frequent flyer programme on its own behalf or the name given to the frequent flyer programme itself. Skywards is a trademark or registered trademark of Emirates;

Skywards Flex Fare is any non-discounted Emirates commercial fare which is not subject to the Skywards Saver Fare restrictions (defined below);

Skywards Flex Reward means a Reward ticket, paid for in full or part with Skywards Miles, which is governed by the Skywards Flex Reward rules and restrictions;

Skywards Miles means those Miles earned every time a Member takes a Qualifying Flight or purchases qualifying goods and services from any Partner and which can be redeemed for Rewards under the Skywards Programme Rules.

Miles Calculator means the calculator on the Website which determines how many Miles will be credited to the Member's account when he or she takes a Qualifying Flight;

Skywards Saver Fare means an Emirates fare which is subject to any eligibility restrictions relating to purchase (including, but not limited to, 'students'; 'seniors', 'seaman'; 'missionary'; 'cruise'; 'youth'; 'companions'; 'groups'; 'inclusive-tours'; 'air passes') and/or limited seat availability, sales period (''must purchase by'' date), restrictive conditions (including, but not limited to change fees; min/max stay; flight restrictions or advance purchase), and all fares sold by other airlines for journeys partly flown on Emirates; 

Skywards Saver Reward means a Reward ticket, paid for in full or part with Skywards Miles, which is governed by the Skywards Saver Reward rules and restrictions; 

Emirates Contact Centre means each of the contact centres for Members established in Dubai, Mumbai, Karachi, Manchester, Melbourne and New York and having the contact details as published by Skywards;

Tier Miles means those Miles accrued in respect of qualification for a Membership Tier, being a Mile earned by taking a Qualifying Flight;

Tier Bonus means Skywards Miles accrued by Gold Members and Silver Members, earned by taking a Qualifying Flight(s); and

Website means the Skywards website at www.skywards.com.
1.2In these Programme Rules, unless a contrary intention appears:
  1. a reference to the singular includes a reference to the plural, and vice versa;
  2. a reference to a gender includes a reference to the opposite gender;
  3. a reference to a party includes a reference to its authorised employees; and
  4. headings are inserted for the purpose of convenient reference only.
2. Membership
2.1Application for membership of Skywards is open to any individual who is at least 2 years of age. A corporation, firm, partnership or other entity is not eligible to become a Member.
2.2An applicant for membership must supply all of the information required in the Skywards membership application form. Applications in respect of Members under 18 years must be signed by a parent or guardian. Skywards may accept or reject any application for membership in its absolute discretion. If an application for membership is rejected then any benefit that may have accrued to the applicant through the use of a temporary membership card will be null and void.
2.3Skywards will issue a Member with a permanent membership number against which his or her Miles will be accrued. The membership card may state an expiry date and, if so, is only valid for use up to that expiry date. The membership card may only be used by the Member named on that card. A membership card is not a credit card and is used for the purpose of identification only. A membership card is not transferable and at all times remains the property of the issuer. A Member must return his or her membership card without delay to an Emirates Contact Centre whenever requested by Skywards or any other party acting on its behalf. A Member must immediately report a lost membership card to an Emirates Contact Centre.
2.4A Member may at any time cancel his or her membership by advising an Emirates Contact Centre in writing or returning his or her membership card to an Emirates Contact Centre.
2.5Skywards may in its absolute discretion suspend, cancel or terminate a membership or a Member's accumulated Miles at any time.
2.6Membership is automatically terminated on the death or bankruptcy of a Member. Miles accumulated prior to termination in these circumstances will be immediately cancelled. However, Skywards may, at its sole discretion, reinstate Miles in favour of the heirs of the deceased Member upon the application of his or her personal representative, provided that the deceased Member's account holds a minimum balance of 20,000 Miles at the time of the Member's death.
2.7Membership is not transferable. A Member is not permitted to hold more than one Account. All Miles and Rewards under Skywards are accrued by or issued to the Member in his or her Member Account.
2.8Activity statements will be available to a Member via the Website while Skywards considers him or her to be an active Member and will include information concerning Miles accrued, redeemed and expired.
2.9Name changes by a Member must be notified to Skywards in writing and accompanied by all such legal or other documentation as Skywards shall from time to time request to evidence that change. Skywards may require additional information for Account validation purposes in respect of any change to a Member's personal details.
2.10All tax, duties and other liabilities arising from the accumulation of Miles or the receipt and use of Rewards are and remain the sole responsibility of the Member and must be paid prior to the issuance of a Reward. Skywards gives no warranty or assurance in relation to such tax, duties or other liabilities.
2.12Members who are under 18 years will be unable to conduct certain transactions (such as purchasing or transferring Skywards Miles and redeeming Rewards) on the Website or on www.emirates.com.
2.11All Miles credited but not exchanged for Rewards, as well as any unutilised Rewards, are cancelled upon a person ceasing to be a Member.
3. Skysurfers
3.1Members who are between 2 and 16 years of age automatically become members of Skysurfers.
3.2A Skysurfers membership number and card will be processed together and Skywards will use its reasonable endeavours to issue the card and number within 14 days of Skywards receiving the application form.
3.3Skysurfers are subject to the Skywards Programme Rules and may have to be accompanied by a Member when utilising certain benefits such as lounge access and Chauffeur-drive services.
4. Account Management
4.1A Member may in writing to an Emirates Contact Centre or through the Website nominate a ''Travel Co-ordinator'' (who must be at least 18 years of age) to have access to his or her membership Account to:
  1. obtain information from that membership Account;
  2. claim a Reward; and
  3. amend any information held by Skywards concerning the membership, on behalf of that Member.
A Travel Co-ordinator who is not a Member is not entitled to any Skywards membership benefits or privileges.
5. Membership Tier
5.1A Member may be granted a tier upgrade to a ''Silver'' or ''Gold'' Membership Tier depending on the number of Tier Miles earned in any consecutive 13-month period. 25,000 Tier Miles are required to attain Silver Membership and 50,000 Tier Miles are required to attain Gold Membership.
5.2A Membership Tier is valid for one year from the month it is earned and may be renewed subject to the Member having accrued a further 25,000 or 50,000 Tier Miles (as applicable) by the review date. Excess Tier Miles earned in any review period may not be carried forward to a subsequent period.
5.3Gold Members accrue a Tier Bonus at the rate of Base Miles + 50% and Silver Members accrue a Tier Bonus at the rate of Base Miles + 25%. Tier Bonuses contribute to a members Skywards Miles account. They do no contribute to the tier mile account.
5.4The number of Tier Miles required for each Membership Tier may be changed by Skywards at any time without notice.
5.5Skywards may establish, upgrade or downgrade a Member's Membership Tier at its sole discretion.
6. Tier Benefits and Privileges
6.1Pre-assigned seating on Emirates flights is available to all Members on the basis that the Member books the seat at least 48 hours in advance of the relevant flight and checks in at least 90 minutes before departure. Pre-assigned seating is subject to availability and to Emirates Conditions of Carriage for Passengers and Baggage.
6.2Lounge access is available to Gold and Silver Members travelling in any cabin on Emirates flights. A Gold Member may access Emirates lounges across the Emirates network while a Silver Member may access the Emirates Business Class Lounge at Dubai International Airport Gate C22, as well as the Business Class lounges in Concourses A and B. Gold members travelling in Business Class or First Class can take a companion travelling on the same flight as the member into the lounge. Members travelling on Emirates codeshare flights operated by other carriers will not be eligible to access the Emirates First Class and Business Class lounges. In some countries minors (under 18 or 21 years of age) must be accompanied by an adult for lounge access. Learn more about lounge access.
6.3Additional baggage allowances are available to Gold and Silver Members travelling on Emirates flights only (not on connecting airlines or Emirates codeshare flights operated by other carriers). Gold Members are entitled to an additional 16kg and Silver Members to an additional 12kg over the baggage allowance shown on the ticket. Additional baggage allowances do not apply to any ticket which is subject to the IATA piece concept for baggage (e.g. any ticket to/from North America or South America) where Members may check in multiple bags up to the piece allowance. 6.4Guaranteed seat reservation in Economy Class is available to Gold Members holding a Skywards Flex Fare commercial ticket, in any class, with no minimum / maximum stay restrictions. A guaranteed seat will be confirmed in Economy Class only when no seats are available in any other class on a particular flight. The guaranteed seat reservation request must be made at least 48 hours prior to flight departure by providing a valid Emirates eticket number. Learn more about guaranteed seat reservation.
6.5e-Gate access at Dubai, Abu Dhabi International and Al Ain Airports is offered free of charge to Gold Members and at a charge of 5,000 Skywards Miles to Silver Members. 6.6Priority baggage delivery is available to Gold Members travelling in any class. At Dubai International Airport, a dedicated baggage belt is available to premium travellers. Learn more about priority baggage delivery.
6.7Gold Members are eligible for the Opening Doors Programme, which provides an array of privileges and premium offers from private clubs, resorts and spas around the world. Learn mroe about the Opening Doors Programme.
6.8Tier benefits and privileges provided to a Member at each Membership Tier may be changed by Skywards at any time without notice.
7. Earning Miles
7.1A Member may earn Miles for Qualifying Flights or earn Skywards Miles using the qualifying services of Partners on or after his or her enrolment date. Qualifying Flights undertaken two months prior to enrolment are eligible for Miles. Partner transactions prior to enrolment date are not eligible for Skywards Miles. Skywards Miles and tier miles a Member earns for Qualifying Flights can be viewed via the Miles Calculator on the Website.
7.2To earn Miles, a Member must either produce a membership card or quote the membership number at the time of reservation or check-in for Qualifying Flights and at the time of paying for other qualifying goods or services.
7.3On Qualifying Flights a Member will earn 100% of Base Miles when he or she purchases a Skywards Flex Fare and 50% of Base Miles when he or she purchases a Skywards Saver Fare. Paper tickets will accrue only 50% of Base Miles, irrespective of the fare purchased. Miles earned contribute to both the members Skywards Miles and tier miles accounts.
7.4Members travelling in First Class earn a Class Bonus at the rate of Base Miles + 150%; Members travelling in Business Class earn a Class Bonus at the rate of Base Miles + 75%. Class Bonuses contribute to both the members Skywards Miles and tier miles accounts.
7.5Members under the age of 18 accrue Miles at the same rate as adult Members.
7.6If a Member purchases a mixed fare and/or mixed cabin ticket on Qualifying Flights, Miles will be credited separately for each fare component. The endorsement text or additional information area of the ticket is a partial indicator only.  Full details of Miles earned on mixed fare tickets can be viewed at any time under the My Itinerary section of the Website or under the Manage a Booking section of www.emirates.com.
7.7If a Member voids or refunds any part of a ticket, Miles will be credited only for the journey flown on Qualifying Flights on that ticket.
7.8A Member who is upgraded to a different class of travel without a re-issuance of their ticket (i.e. without recieving a new ticket number) will receive Miles for the fare he or she has purchased, as reflected on the ticket.
7.9The following type of tickets do not qualify to earn Miles and cannot be used to avail of the Skywards programme benefits:
  1. employee tickets;
  2. industry and agent discounted tickets;
  3. reward tickets;
  4. contra tickets;
  5. prize & promotional tickets;
  6. consultant & PR tickets;
  7. specially discounted diplomat & government tickets;
  8. free travel and non-scheduled or charter flight tickets;
  9. non-public specially discounted travel tickets;
  10. denied Boarding Options tickets; and
  11. reward tickets issued by other frequent flyer or loyalty programmes in which Skywards is a participant;
7.10A Member may make a retroactive claim to an Emirates Contact Centre for missing Miles within six months of the Qualifying Flight flown on a ticket. A Member must provide travel information such as; ticket number, flight details on the boarding passes, transaction documents, receipts and any other documents requested by Skywards when making a retroactive claim.
7.11Miles may only be earned for one frequent flyer programme for each flight or transaction unless otherwise stated by Skywards or a Partner.  Miles can only be earned for a seat and one extra seat purchased per flight for usage per Member. Miles may take eight weeks or more to be credited to a Member's Account from the date of the transaction. Miles earned by a Member may only be used or redeemed by that Member in accordance with these Programme Rules once they have been credited to the relevant Account.
7.12Skywards Miles can only be earned on Qualifying Flights or airline Partner flights. It is the responsibility of the Member to verify the accrual of Skywards Miles earned in these instances with the airline with which the flight is booked.
7.13Skywards Miles are awarded only for goods and services actually supplied. In particular, no Skywards Miles will be earned in connection with goods or services which have been ordered but cancelled prior to utilisation by a Member, or in circumstances in which the Member fails to meet any obligation on his or her part in connection with the order.
7.14Members can transfer their existing Skywards Miles from one account to another Skywards account for a fee of USD 25 per 1,000 Miles. Terms & Conditions apply. Members cannot transfer Miles to any other frequent flyer programme.
7.15If a Member's Qualifying Flight is cancelled, Emirates may endorse the Member's ticket to another carrier for carriage and the Member will accrue Miles in accordance with the ticket he or she purchased.
8. Validity of Skywards Miles
8.1Skywards Miles are valid for a period of three years from the date on which a Member undertakes the relevant flight or enters into the applicable transaction with a Partner.
8.2Skywards Miles will expire (and be deducted from the Member's Account) at the end of the month of a Member's birthday on/after the third anniversary of the relevant flight or applicable transaction. The precise period of validity of the Skywards Miles will depend on when a Member's birthday occurs but the validity of Skywards Miles shall not be less than three years. Unused, expired Skywards Miles, once deducted from the Member's Account, cannot be re-credited.
8.3It is the Member's responsibility to be aware of both the Skywards Miles in his or her Account and when the Skywards Miles will expire. This can be monitored at any time online at www.skywards.com
9. Purchase of Skywards Miles
9.1A Member may top up his or her or a fellow members Account with additional Skyward Miles by purchasing them from Skywards online or from their nearest Emirates Reservation and Ticketing office, provided that the Member purchasing the Skywards Miles and (if applicable) the Member receiving the Skywards Miles has/have at least one prior earning activity in his or her Account (earned by flying on Emirates or a Partner airline or through a Partner transaction). Family Bonus Member accruals and Personal Detail Bonuses do not qualify as accruals for this purpose.
9.2A Member may purchase a minimum of 2,000 Skywards Miles at any one time. The maximum number of Skywards Miles that a Member can purchase in any one calendar year is 25,000 Miles. Tier Miles cannot be purchased.
9.3Skywards Miles can be purchased at any time within the prescribed limits but must be purchased at least 48 hours prior to making a booking/redemption. Refunds in respect of Skywards Miles purchased are not permitted.
9.4Skywards reserves the right to change the price of Skywards Miles, impose additional restrictions on purchasing Skywards Miles and/or conditions of obtaining Skywards Miles at any time. Learn more about purchasing Skywards Miles.
9.5A Member may not sell his or her Skywards Miles for cash or other consideration and a Member may not purchase Skywards Miles from a third party.
10. Transfer of Miles
10.1A Member may transfer his or her existing Skywards Miles from their account to another Skywards account from Skywards online channel skywards.com, provided that the Member receiving the Skywards Miles has/have at least one prior earning activity in his or her Account (earned by flying on Emirates or a Partner airline or through a Partner transaction). Family Bonus Member accruals and Personal Detail Bonuses do not qualify as accruals for this purpose.
10.2A Member may transfer a minimum of 2,000 Skywards Miles at any one time. The maximum number of Skywards Miles that a Member can transfer in any one calendar year is 25,000 Miles. Tier Miles cannot be transferred.
10.3Skywards Miles can be transferred at any time within the prescribed limits but must be transferred at least 48 hours prior to making a booking/redemption. Refunds in respect of Skywards Miles transferred are not permitted.
10.4Skywards reserves the right to change the price of Skywards Miles, impose additional restrictions on transferring Skywards Miles and/or conditions of obtaining Skywards Miles at any time. Learn more about transferring Skywards Miles.
10.5Member may not sell his or her Skywards Miles for cash or other consideration and a Member may not purchase Skywards Miles from a third party.
11. Rewards - General
11.1All Rewards must be booked on the Website or with an Emirates Contact Centre or an Emirates reservation office. Skywards Miles may be redeemed for Rewards only by that Member or his or her Travel Co-ordinator (or by a parent or guardian on behalf of a Member under 18 years of age). When requesting a Reward, a Member may be requested to complete a Reward Authorisation Form and supply a copy of his or her passport.
11.2Rewards do not have any cash value and neither Skywards Miles nor Rewards are convertible into cash.
11.3To claim a Reward, a Member must have accumulated the required amount of Skywards Miles in his or her Account.   Members may redeem Skywards Miles for Rewards at any time while the Skywards Miles are valid, subject to availability and applicable conditions as set out in these Programme Rules or in Terms & Conditions imposed by Partners.
11.4Skywards may at any time without notice alter the number of Skywards Miles required to obtain a particular Reward, withdraw a Reward supplied or impose additional restrictions on a Reward or conditions of obtaining it.
11.5All Rewards are subject to availability and suppliers' restrictions. Skywards or Partners may from time to time impose a period in which no Rewards will be available. Rewards may not be available on all flights at all times. Skywards may withdraw, replace or substitute Rewards at any time without notice.
11.6TO THE EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, SKYWARDS ACCEPTS NO LIABILITY IN RESPECT OF DEATH OR INJURY, OR CONSEQUENTIAL LOSS OR DAMAGES ARISING FROM, OR IN CONNECTION WITH, THE SUPPLY OF A REWARD (OTHER THAN THE USE OF A REWARD TICKET) OR FOR THE LOSS, THEFT OR DESTRUCTION OF A REWARD.
11.7SAVE AS MAY NOT BE EXCLUDED BY LAW, NO WARRANTY (WHETHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED) WHATSOEVER IS GIVEN IN RESPECT OF REWARDS PROVIDED UNDER SKYWARDS. IN PARTICULAR, NO WARRANTY IS GIVEN WITH RESPECT TO THE QUALITY OF REWARDS OR THEIR SUITABILITY FOR ANY PURPOSE.
11.8TO THE EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW AND SUBJECT TO THESE PROGRAMME RULES, THE LIABILITY OF SKYWARDS, OR A PARTNER IN RESPECT OF FLIGHTS, GOODS OR SERVICES WHICH ARE THE SUBJECT OF A REWARD IS LIMITED TO ANY ONE OR MORE OF THE FOLLOWING: (a) REPLACEMENT OF THE GOODS OR SUPPLY OF EQUIVALENT GOODS; (b) THE REPAIR OF THE GOODS; (c) THE REPAYMENT OF THE COSTS OF REPLACING THE GOODS OR OF ACQUIRING EQUIVALENT GOODS AND, IN THE CASE OF SERVICES OR FLIGHTS, HAVING THE SERVICE OR FLIGHT SUPPLIED AGAIN, AT THE OPTION OF SKYWARDS OR THE PARTNER NOMINATED TO SUPPLY THE FLIGHT, GOODS OR SERVICES AS THE CASE MAY BE.
12. Emirates Flight Rewards
12.1A Member may redeem a Flight Reward for him or herself or for any third party.
12.2All taxes, duties and charges (including airport and/or government taxes) are the responsibility of the Member and must be paid prior to the issuance of the Reward ticket. Payments are accepted in cash or by Credit Card.
12.3Reward tickets are valid travel documents and are issued on the basis that all conditions specified on issue of the ticket apply. Without limiting the generality of the foregoing, the Member must ensure that he or she has the correct visa, travel documents and innoculations (including those for infants) for travel on the Reward ticket.
12.4The Reward ticket redemption level for infants (up to 2 years of age) is 10% of the adult redemption level. Reasonable documentary evidence of the infant's age may be requested at the time of booking. An infant Reward ticket can only be used in Economy Class on an Emirates flight.
12.5Reward tickets must be paid for and issued within seven days from the date of booking or the reservation will be cancelled. If departure date is within seven days, immediate payment and ticketing is required.
12.6Open tickets will not be issued as Rewards. Outbound and return flights must be booked and confirmed at the same time. Waitlisting for Reward flights is not permitted. Reward tickets will be considered void if sectors on the ticket are used out of sequence.
12.7Skywards Miles may be re-credited to a Members Account if a Reward ticket is completely unused and valid. Any Skywards Miles which have expired will not be re-credited. Such re-crediting will be subject to cancellation fee of USD 50 for a Flex Reward and USD 75 for a Saver Reward or Combined Reward.
12.8All fees and charges applicable under these Programme Rules are non-refundable.
12.9Reward travel may not be possible on certain joint services or codeshare services. It is the responsibility of the Member to verify the availability of Reward travel in these instances with the airline with which the flight is booked. The use of a Reward ticket may not entitle the Member to certain benefits which are associated with a full fare ticket. If the Member has any queries in this respect he or she should contact an Emirates Contact Centre.
12.10A Reward ticket cannot be endorsed to a carrier other than that named on the ticket, except in cases of cancellation of a flight on which a Member holds a confirmed seat. In the event of cancellation or major disruption to a flight, a Member travelling on a Reward ticket will be transferred to the next flight on the same carrier on which space is available or another carrier at the discretion of Emirates.
12.11A Member may not sell a Reward ticket or any other Reward for cash or other consideration and a Member may not purchase a Reward ticket or any other Reward from a third party. A Reward ticket that has been bought, sold or bartered by or to a Member may be cancelled or confiscated without prior notice in the sole discretion of Skywards. If the Reward ticket has been utilised either partially or fully, the Member will be liable for payment of travel on a full fare basis. All rights, including the right to bring legal action or to cancel a membership, are also reserved.
12.12SUBJECT TO APPLICABLE INTERNATIONAL LAW, NEITHER SKYWARDS NOR ANY AIRLINE PARTNER (AS THE CASE MAY BE) ACCEPTS ANY LIABILITY IN RESPECT OF MEMBERS TRAVELLING ON REWARD TICKETS OTHER THAN AS SET OUT IN THE GENERAL CONDITIONS OF CARRIAGE AND TRAVEL DOCUMENTS OF THE RELEVANT AIRLINE.

13. Emirates Upgrade Rewards
13.1Upgrade Rewards are available only on Emirates flights (excluding Emirates codeshare flights operated by another carrier) and may be redeemed for a single sector, an outward or return leg, or a complete return journey.
13.2Only a single cabin upgrade is permissible e.g. Economy Class to Business Class, or Business Class to First Class. On flights offering only Economy Class and First Class, a double upgrade between Economy Class and First Class is permissible at twice the applicable Miles.
13.3Upgrade Reward requests must be made at least six hours prior to departure. Upgrades requested within 24 hours prior to departure will not be eligible for Chauffeur-drive or special meal services.
13.4Gold and Silver Members may redeem Miles for an Instant Upgrade Reward at check-in and on board, subject to availability. Learn more about Instant Upgrade Rewards.
13.5A Member must hold a confirmed ticket for the flight they wish to upgrade prior to requesting an Upgrade Reward. All ticketing and fares rules applicable to the base ticket must be observed at all times.
13.6Upgrade Rewards are only permitted on etickets. Paper tickets are not eligible for Skywards Upgrade Rewards.
13.7Infants accompanied by an adult are eligible for Upgrade Rewards at 10% of  Skywards Miles applicable to redeem an adult Upgrade Reward.  The Member and infant must redeem Miles for an Upgrade Reward together, in the same transaction.
13.8No fees apply for cancellation of Upgrade Rewards. However, expired Skywards Miles will not be re-credited to a Member's Account.
14. Partners
14.1Partners, and the Terms & Conditions under which Skywards Miles are earned and/or redeemed through a Partner, may vary from time to time. It is the responsibility of the Member to verify eligibility to earn and redeem Skywards Miles with Partners.
14.2Skywards Miles for Partners' goods and services are earned based on the Member's expenditure. Exclusions or minimum purchase conditions may apply.  When the expenditure is in a currency other than the lawful currency of the United Arab Emirates, the relevant amount will be converted at a reasonable conversion rate determined by or on behalf of Skywards.
14.3When a Member selects services and/goods from a Partner the contract for such services and/or goods is between the Member and Partner. Accordingly the Terms & Conditions of the Partner shall apply to purchase of the goods and/or services selected by the Member. Some of these Terms & Conditions are mentioned on the Website but Skywards strongly recommends that the Member reads the Terms & Conditions and also checks with the Partner prior to selecting the goods and/or services. By accepting the Partner's offer, the member is agreeing to abide by the Terms & Conditions of the purchase imposed by the Partner, including payment of all amounts when due (if any) and compliance with all rules and restrictions regarding booking, availability, cancellation and refunds in respect of the services and/or goods. TO THE EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, SKYWARDS ACCEPTS NO LIABILITY WHATSOEVER IN RESPECT OF REWARDS SUPPLIED BY PARTNERS IN CONNECTION WITH A PARTNER'S REFUSAL TO SUPPLY A REWARD TO THE MEMBER. The rights, if any, which a Member may have in connection with a Reward are solely against the Partner supplying that Reward. Subject to this clause, all Rewards supplied to a Member will be subject exclusively to the Terms & Conditions of Partners supplying the Reward.

15. Airline Partner Flight Rewards
15.1The Terms & Conditions concerning the redemption of Skywards Miles for airline Partner flight Rewards may vary between Partners.  It is the responsibility of the Member to check these Terms & Conditions at the time of booking.
15.2Partner flight Rewards must be paid for and ticketed at least seven days prior to the date of travel.   Partner Flight Rewards booked within seven days of travel will be subject to a fee of USD 50;  those booked within 24 hours of travel will be subject to a booking fee of USD 75.
15.3Some airline Partners do not permit Flight Rewards to be booked more than six months in advance due to scheduling.
15.4Most airline Partners permit one stopover plus point of turnaround on Flight Rewards. Learn mroe about each airline Partner's Terms & Conditions.
15.5Date changes on a Partner flight Rewards will be subject to a charge of USD25 per change, per person, provided all other Terms & Conditions of the ticket and Partner have been met.
15.6Cancellation of Partner flight Rewards must be done at least 72 hours prior to  flight departure and will incur a cancellation fee of USD 75.  Expired Skywards Miles will not be re-credited to the Member's Account.
15.7All fees and charges applicable under these Programme Rules are non-refundable.
15.8All rewards will be issued as return trips.

16. Family Bonus and other programmes
16.1A Member (the "Family Head") may nominate via the Website or in writing to an Emirates Contact Centre a maximum of eight family members (each a "Family Bonus Member"). Eligible Family Bonus Members are brothers, sisters, fathers, mothers, spouse, children, grand children, grand parents, parents-in-law and step parents.
16.2A Family Bonus Member must be over 2 years of age and may only be registered in respect of one Family Head's Account.
16.3A Family Bonus Member, after his/her Family Bonus programme enrolment, earns 20% of the Skywards Miles a normal (i.e. Blue) Member would earn on Qualifying Flights and these Skywards Miles are added to the Family Head's Account. A Family Bonus Member earns no Skywards Miles and Tier miles in their own right when travelling on a Family Bonus membership number.
16.4A Family Bonus Member may also be a Member but cannot earn Miles in each membership capacity for the same Qualifying Flight(s).
16.5A Family Head may cancel the participation of a Family Bonus Member at any time on the Website or by giving written notice to an Emirates Contact Centre.   Only three additions and three deletions are permitted in any calendar year.
16.6The Family Head's nomination and enrolment of each Family Bonus Member bind that Family Bonus Member to the Programme Rules.
16.7Family Bonus Members are not eligible to accrue Skywards Miles with Partners.
16.8Other special programmes introduced by Skywards may have additional rules which will be made available to Members on request.
17. Liability
17.1TO THE EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, SKYWARDS WILL NOT BE LIABLE TO A MEMBER OR ANY OTHER PERSON FOR ANY LOSS OR DAMAGE, WHETHER DIRECT OR INDIRECT, RESULTING FROM TERMINATION OR CHANGE OF OR TO SKYWARDS OR ANY OF THE FACILITIES, BENEFITS OR ARRANGEMENTS WHICH ARE MADE AVAILABLE TO A MEMBER, INCLUDING PARTNER WITHDRAWAL OR THE WITHDRAWAL OF ANY BENEFITS, FACILITIES OR ARRANGEMENTS.
17.2Skywards reserves the right to disqualify a Member from further participation in the Skywards programme, to cancel all previously accumulated Skywards Miles and to seek compensation for Rewards utilised if, in Skywards' sole judgment, that Member has engaged in wilful misconduct or breached any of the rules governing the Skywards programme, including, but not limited to the fraudulent acquisition of Skywards Miles or acquisition, sale or abuse of Skywards Miles or acquisition, sale or abuse of Reward benefits.
17.3The Skywards concierge and other services offered to Members, including those offered through the "Opening Doors" programme, are operated by third party suppliers (each a "Supplier"). All Members taking advantage of these services will be entering into a legal relationship with the Supplier. To the extent permitted by law, Skywards excludes all liability to any Member or other person of whatsoever nature in respect of any negligence, wilful misconduct, poor service or other breach of obligation arising out of the provision or failure to provide the services by or on behalf of a Supplier arising out of that legal relationship with a Supplier.
18. Privacy
18.1Member information held by Skywards includes the information which a Member or a Partner provides to Skywards, such as names; addresses; contact numbers; date of birth; and transaction details, including Miles accrual and Reward transactions relating to Skywards:
  1. may be used to develop new services;
  2. may be used for accounting and audit purposes (including fraud auditing);
  3. may be used for credit checking and credit scoring;
  4. may be used for marketing and market research purposes;
  5. will be transferred to countries that may not have data protection laws; and
  6. may otherwise be used in a manner which a Member may authorise from time to time.
18.2
  1. will be retained and used by Skywards and data processors to ensure the efficient running of the programme, including the crediting of Miles, the provision of membership statements and the awarding of membership levels;
  2. may be disclosed as required by law, including disclosures to the police, immigration and customs authorities;
  3. may be used by Skywards to send you communications about promotions, services, products and facilities offered by Skywards;
  4. may be disclosed to a Partner to assist that Partner in the planning and development of Skywards;
  5. may be used by a Partner to send you separate communications about services, products and facilities offered by that Partner (unless the Member indicates otherwise); and
  6. may be used to develop new services;
  7. may be used for accounting and audit purposes (including fraud auditing);
  8. may be used for credit checking and credit scoring;
  9. may be used for marketing and market research purposes;
  10. will be transferred to countries that may not have data protection laws; and
  11. may otherwise be used in a manner which a Member may authorise from time to time.
18.3The consent given by a Member will continue in effect unless and until the Member withdraws the consent by notice in writing to an Emirates Contact Centre. Withdrawal of consent may mean that certain services may no longer be provided to the Member, and also entitles Skywards to terminate membership immediately.
18.4A Member may obtain a copy of his or her Member information upon making a written request and upon paying Skywards' reasonable costs (if any) of providing that Member information. The Member may request Skywards to correct or delete any item of the Member information which is not accurate, complete or up-to-date at no charge to the Member.
18.5The Member warrants that any information provided by a Member about any Family Bonus Member is provided with the knowledge, consent and the authority of the Family Bonus Member.

19. General
19.1The Programme Rules may be changed, varied, suspended or terminated at any time without notice where permitted by law, save that reasonable efforts will be used to promptly post details of that change or variation, suspension or termination (as the case may be) to the Website for Skywards at www.skywards.com. In the event of any conflict between this version of the Programme Rules and any version of the Programme Rules published on the Website for Skywards, the latter shall prevail.
19.2The Member's use of his or her membership card or quoting of his or her membership number after any change or variation to the Programme Rules will be deemed to be acceptance by the Member to that change or variation.
19.3Any notice to be given to a Member under these Programme Rules will be deemed to have been given if posted by pre-paid post to the Member at the address provided by the Member for the purposes of Skywards.
19.4The Programme Rules are governed by the laws of the Emirate of Dubai and any proceeding with respect to or in connection with Skywards must be brought in that jurisdiction. Membership, including eligibility for membership and any Miles or Rewards, are subject to any applicable laws and regulations, including all applicable resolutions of the International Air Transport Association.
19.5Skywards does not operate (or will cease to operate) in a jurisdiction in which it would be prohibited (or becomes prohibited) by any relevant law or governmental direction.
19.6Reasonable care has been taken to ensure that information contained in the Programme Rules and in any publications and advertisements in connection with Skywards is accurate, but Skywards will not accept any liability with respect to any errors or omissions in any information, whether written or verbal.
19.7Any part of these Programme Rules which is unenforceable for any reason shall be considered capable of being cut out so as not to affect the remainder of these Programme Rules in any way. Skywards shall not be required to provide any service or otherwise act in pursuance of these Programme Rules if to do so would be contrary to law.
19.8Members may be required to provide documentation at check-in that can establish the Member's identity and membership to Skywards. If a Member fails to comply with this requirement, Skywards reserves the right to refuse carriage.
