Emirates is a fully commercial airline, operating a non-subsidised business model in a highly competitive international market. In fact, Emirates directly competes with over 150 other scheduled airlines at its main operating base, Dubai International Airport - which is subject to the Open Skies policy of the Dubai government.
In this context, Emirates, a firm believer in wider aviation liberalisation, supports the EU’s continued progress towards a truly open European market for international aviation.
With these strong foundations of co-operation, Emirates will therefore continue to advocate for a future Open Skies agreement between the EU and the UAE, which we feel would be complementary to the envisaged EU-Gulf Co-operation Council (GCC) Free Trade Agreement.
