Launched on 31 March 2013, our global aviation partnership with Qantas provides customers with a seamless international and Australian network and exclusive frequent flyer benefits. The Emirates-Qantas partnership has also significantly increased competition in the Australian airline market, to the benefit of consumers.
Under the agreement, Qantas entered into an extensive commercial relationship with Emirates and moved its hub for European flights to Dubai, with daily A380 services from Melbourne and Sydney connecting onwards to London Heathrow. The long-term commercial partnership will go beyond code sharing and includes integrated network collaboration with coordinated pricing, sales and scheduling as well as a benefits sharing model. Combined, the two carriers operate 91 (77 Emirates / 14 Qantas) weekly services between Adelaide, Brisbane, Melbourne, Perth and Sydney to Dubai which connect to the Emirates network of over 75 cities in the Middle East, Africa and Europe.
For Emirates customers, the partnership has opened up Qantas’ Australian domestic network of more than 55 destinations and 5,000 flights per week. Frequent flyers with both airlines can earn and redeem points/miles on both Emirates and Qantas flights, take advantage of the expanded network and have their tier status recognised with both airlines.
