Emirates marks one year of service in Kabul

DUBAI, U.A.E, 10 December, 2014 – Emirates, a global connector of people and places, is marking a successful year of service to Kabul, having carried more than 112,000 passengers on the route since flights began in December 2013.

Over the past year, the Dubai-Kabul service provided an opportunity for many Afghans and expatriates living overseas to visit the country whilst experiencing Emirates’ renowned service and product. The route also enabled Emirates’ customers in Afghanistan to access the airline’s global network of 147 destinations.

“Marking one year of Emirates’ operations in Kabul reiterates our commitment to this important market. In the past year, we’ve had healthy seat load factors on the route demonstrating passengers’ demand for Emirates’ unique product and service. Through our efficient Dubai hub, Emirates’ customers in Afghanistan are able to enjoy seamless connections throughout the year to a variety of destinations in Europe, the Middle East, West Asia and Indian Ocean,” said Abbas A Haji, Emirates’ Vice President, Iran and Central Asia.

The route is operated by an Airbus A340-300 configured in a 3 cabin configuration, offering 12 First Class, 42 Business Class and 213 Economy Class seats. Emirates is the only airline which offers first class product between Dubai and Kabul.

Emirates’ First Class customers enjoy the ultimate travel experience. Taking elements of private jet travel into commercial aviation, the Emirates First Class journey begins way before the flight, with complimentary chauffeur-drive and dedicated airport lounges, to swift check-in and boarding.  The First Class experience gives the discerning traveller the time and space to relax in an environment tailor-made to suit individual needs.

Passengers in all classes can lose themselves in the multiple award-winning ice entertainment system, with hundreds of channels of on-demand entertainment to choose from, including movies from around the world, TV channels, audio channels, video games and news, sports and business headlines.

Passengers also have the advantage of a generous baggage allowance, with 30 kilogrammes for those travelling in Economy Class, 40 kilogrammes for Business Class and 50 kilogrammes for First Class. 

The daily service EK640 leaves Dubai at 09:55hrs and arrives in Kabul at 13:15hrs. The return flight to DubaiEK 641 leaves Kabul at 15:30 hrs and gets into Dubai at 18:05 hrs.
