Before their hotly-contested game with Real Madrid C.F., defender Michelangelo Albertazzi and midfielder Michael Essien got behind the controls of the Airbus A380 at the Emirates A380 Experience in The Village, at The Dubai Mall.

The adventure was particularly exhilarating for Michelangelo Albertazzi who has already notched up over 150 hours on his private flying licence. He was fully in his element as he took the world’s largest commercial aircraft through its paces, occasionally checking with his instructor on the flap settings. Michael Essien played the role of First Officer to perfection, under the able command of ‘Captain Albertazzi’, who then proceeded to execute a classic captain’s landing.

The players also visited the Emirates Official Store situated next to the Emirates A380 Experience where they signed merchandise for fans.

Since its opening in April 2014, the Emirates A380 Experience has emerged as Dubai’s leading attraction for aviation aficionados. The state-of-the-art flight simulator is as close as it can get to the real flying machine, with enthusiasts piloting an Emirates A380 for 30-minute slots under the watchful eyes of a flight instructor. One can take-off or land the iconic double-decker in 12 airports around the world, while simulating a variety of weather and flying conditions.
