Emirates' recovery operation is being ramped up to help clear the backlog of passengers from around its network following the volcanic ash disruption.

In addition to the extra flights that have been put on to London Gatwick over the past few days - including an additional flight today, the airline is also boosting services on its Asian routes. Two extra flights are heading to Bangkok today.

Tomorrow will see an three extra services to London Gatwick - that is on top of the existing eight daily services into the British capital.

Richard Vaughan, Emirates' Divisional Senior Vice President, Commercial Operations Worldwide, said: "We are into the fourth day of resumed services in and out of Europe, as well as offering extra flights where possible. Today, we put on an extra flight to London Gatwick and two extra flights to Bangkok. Tomorrow will see three extra services to London Gatwick - so we are really ramping up these extra flights to approach the backlog from the east and the west."

Mr Vaughan added: "We continue to work very hard to move delayed passengers on from different corners of the network, and we will not stop until all passengers are taken care of.  While thousands have customers have been able to return home or reach their destination of choice after the disruption, we also fully understand many are still waiting to get on flights. These people are very much at the forefront of our minds as we continue this global recovery operation. Again, we really appreciate the patience our passengers have displayed in sometimes very difficult circumstances."

Emirates has advised that passengers travelling to and from the UK and Europe via Dubai, who held bookings for travel during the disruption, are now being accepted, provided they hold confirmed bookings on their new flights.

All passengers are advised to check the status of their flight before leaving for the airport on www.emirates.com. Passengers are asked not to go to the airport unless they have a confirmed seat on a flight. Online check in is currently suspended for all Emirates flights.

Emirates' customers affected by the disruption can cancel their booking or change their onward destination without charge. All re-issue and cancellation fees will be waived while the disruption is ongoing.
