Terms and Conditions of Home Check-In Service

Your Booking

  • Your Booking only becomes valid upon your acceptance of these Terms and the dispatch of Our e-mail confirmation of Your Booking to Your notified email address.
  • We reserve the right to decline or cancel any Booking.
  • You may amend Your Booking, free of charge, provided you do so at least twelve (12) hours before the Scheduled Time.
  • You must provide Us with valid contact details at the time of Booking.
  • These Terms shall only apply to the Service and do not apply to Your flight(s).
  • You may not make a Booking or use our Services in the event that you: [i] are travelling to the United States of America (with an exception of flights via Milan and Athens); [ii] are an “unaccompanied minor”; or [iii] have a medical condition requiring medical assistance or clearance to travel.

Price and payment

  • The price of the Services is set out on Our website and includes VAT.
  • You shall pay for the Services at the time of the Booking by credit card.
  • You remain responsible for understanding Your baggage allowance and acknowledge that You shall pay any liabilities, damages, charges, fines, fees or penalties in event that: (i) You exceed your baggage allowance; (ii) any of Your Bags is overweight/oversized; or (iii) Your Bags cause damage or loss to any third parties.

Our responsibilities

  • We shall use reasonable endeavours to deliver Your Bag to the Airport.
  • Subject to Article 6, if we fail to deliver Your Bag to the Airport due to circumstances within our control and your Bag consequently misses your flight, we shall send Your Bag to Your final ticketed destination.

Your responsibilities

  • You shall provide: (i) photographic identification; (ii) travel documents [including visas etc]; and (iii) sufficient evidence of Your ticket at the Scheduled Time and again at the Airport.
  • You warrant that:
    • You have packed Your Bags yourself and are aware of the contents of such Bags;
    • You have authority to deal with the Bag and its contents;
    • You have the necessary travel documents required for Your travel (including all necessary visas, passports, permits and records of vaccinations).
    • the Bags are adequately packed with all due care and skill and contain no Prohibited Items;
    • You are aware of the applicable boarding time of your flight and shall board Your flight before such time;
    • each Bag conforms with Emirates’ baggage policy; and
    • You shall pay Us for any charges, fines, fee or penalties resulting from the Bags.
  • You agree to be present at the Customer Collection Address at the Scheduled Time as set out in your Booking.

Security arrangements

  • As part of Our security procedures, the Bags may be screened by Our personnel.
  • Your Bag shall not be opened and/or searched by Our personnel without Your consent except if required by Dubai Police, Dubai Customs, the General Civil Aviation Authority or any other regulatory or governmental authority or the Airport operator.
  • We may refuse to accept Your Bags for security or safety reasons in accordance with these Terms (including Emirates’ Conditions of Carriage for Passengers and Baggage).

Events outside our control

  • We shall not be liable for any failure to provide the Services arising from any event outside our control or any action by You or any third party including:
    • failure by You to comply with these Terms;
    • failure to provide accurate information at the time of Booking and provide relevant documentation and photographic identification at the Scheduled Time;
    • failure by You to meet the Airport’s security requirements;
    • failure by You to attend the collection of your Bag at the Scheduled Time as specified in Your Booking;
    • disruption of ground or air networks;
    • the actions of Dubai Customs, Dubai Police, the General Civil Aviation Authority or any other regulatory or governmental authority or the Airport operator;
    • failure by You to ensure any Bag is within Your baggage allowance;
    • failure by You to ensure the number of Bags to be checked in is within Your baggage allowance; and
    • failure by You to advise Us of any amendments to your flight booking.
  • We shall not be liable for any damage to any Bag or its contents arising during the Services from any event outside Our control or action by any third party including the actions of Dubai Customs, Dubai Police, the General Civil Aviation Authority, Dubai Airports or any governmental or regulatory agency.

Data privacy

  • By accepting these Terms, You are also agreeing that we may process information relating to you in accordance with, and otherwise accepting the terms of, our privacy policy, which can be found at www.emirates.com/ae/english/sitetools/privacy_policy.aspx.

Our liability

  • Except in respect of death or personal injury caused by Our negligence, Our total liability to You for loss and/or damage caused by Our negligence or breach of contract or otherwise which arises out of or in connection with the provision of (or failure to provide) the Services shall be limited as follows:
    • We shall have no liability for loss of or damage to Excluded Items or Prohibited Items; and
    • Our total liability in relation to the Services (including any lost or damaged Bags), shall not exceed AED 500.00 in aggregate per Booking.
  • For the purposes of these Terms, damage excludes fair wear and tear associated with the transfer of Bags including damage to wheels, handles, zippers and fastenings.
  • In the event that a Bag is damaged whilst under Our control, We reserve the right to make repairs to the Bag in lieu of any compensation for damage.
  • In the event that there is any delay to the Bags such that the Bags do not arrive at Your destination as specified in your contract of carriage, our liability to You will be limited to the amount specified in Emirates’ Conditions of Carriage for Passengers and Baggage.
  • Regardless of the cause, We shall not be liable to You for any:
    • indirect, special or consequential losses;
    • any loss of profits, loss of revenues, business interruption, wasted management time, loss of goodwill or loss of data; and/or
    • any delay in performing or any failure to perform any of Our obligations under the Terms if the delay or failure was due to any circumstances beyond Our reasonable control.
  • We shall have no liability to You in respect of any claim howsoever arising, if You do not notify Us in writing with sufficient detail as to the nature and amount of the claim within fourteen (14) days of the Scheduled Time. You must then provide documentation supporting your loss within an additional fourteen (14) days.

Your right to cancel

  • You must cancel Your Booking at least twelve (12) hours before the Scheduled Time to be eligible for a refund.
  • Your Booking cancellation is only complete when You receive a cancellation confirmation email from Us.
  • Bookings are not eligible for a refund once the Bags have been collected. Additional costs may apply to repatriate these Bags.
  • In the event of cancellation in accordance with this Article 9, You:
    • will be entitled to a refund of the amount paid for the Services; and
    • must collect the Bags from the Airport no later than six (6) hours after the scheduled time of departure of Your flight. In the event that you fail to collect the Bag before this time, You shall be charged additional costs to repatriate or store the Bags, which shall be deducted from your refund amount (see https://www.emirates.com/ae/english/before-youfly/baggage/baggage-services-dubai.aspx for details).

Our right to cancel

  • We reserve the right to cancel Your Booking:
    • if We are unable to validate the Customer Collection Address;
    • if You do not attend the Customer Collection Address at the Scheduled Time (note that We will give you fifteen [15] minutes grace, after which Your Booking shall be cancelled and no refund shall be payable by Us);
    • if You fail to provide valid photo identification and the necessary documents for Your travel;
    • in accordance with Article 1.2 or Article 11.8 of these Terms; and
    • in the event that You fail to board Your scheduled flight.
  • In the event that We cancel your Booking in accordance with Article 10.1, You shall not be entitled to any refund and You shall be solely responsible for the collection of the Bags from the Airport and their return to the Customer Collection Address.
  • We reserve the right to refuse to accept a Bag:
    • that is an Ineligible Bag;
    • that contain Prohibited Items;
    • in accordance with the Terms (including Emirates’ Conditions of Carriage for Passengers and Baggage);
    • where You cannot produce the necessary documents required for travel; and/or
    • in the event that You or Your Bag breaches these Terms.
  • We also reserve the right to cancel Your Booking if Your flight is cancelled or delayed. In the event of such a cancellation by Us, Our sole liability to You shall be to:
    • EITHER: (i) issue You a full refund; or (ii) rebook the Services for a subsequent flight; and
    • arrange to return Your Bags to the Customer Collection Address at no cost to You.


  • These Terms form the Contract between Us and You for the provision of the Services.
  • We shall be entitled to exercise a lien over any property belonging to You (including retaining possession of any Bag) in Our possession pending payment of any charges due.
  • A person who is not party to the Contract shall have no rights in connection with it.
  • We may subcontract the performance of all or some of the Services to a third party.
  • These Terms may be amended by us at any time by posting the amended terms on our website. The amended Terms will be effective upon the ‘effective date’ indicated in respect of Services agreed after that effective date.
  • You must be at least eighteen (18) years of age to use our Services.
  • These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Dubai and the parties agree to submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Dubai.
  • We reserve the right to reject or subsequently cancel Bookings where we believe there to be mis-use of our Services by you or a third party for commercial gain.

Interpretation and Glossary

  • In these Terms, the following expressions shall have the following meanings:
    • “Airport” means Dubai International Airport (DXB);
    • “Bag” means any piece of luggage owned by (or otherwise under the care of) You and transported by Us pursuant to these Terms;
    • “Booking” means Your request for Services as evidenced by Our records;
    • “Contract” means the contract between Us and You for the provision of the Services on these Terms;
    • “Customer Collection Address” means the collection location confirmed by You at the time of Booking for the collection of the Bags for delivery to the Airport.
    • “Excluded Items” means electronic devices, precious stones, precious metals, watches, jewellery, glass, furs, china, art, antiques, prescription drugs, fragile and perishable goods, money, vouchers, travellers cheques, bearer bonds, bills of exchange, promissory notes, stamps, photographs, documents of title to property, bank, credit, pre-pay or other store cards with a cash equivalent value, spirits, tobacco and cigarettes and any other goods which We may deem to be valuable;
    • “Ineligible Bags” means Bags (including but not limited to musical instruments and sports equipment) which are subject to a charge based on the nature of the item, including but not limited to valuable items subject to a special declaration charge, excess, overweight and oversize items, and any items containing goods which are prohibited or restricted by Us or by customs or transport authorities (including firearms, ammunition, flammable or explosive items and other items listed in Our dangerous goods list, a copy of which is available at https://www.emirates.com/ae/english/before-you-fly/travel/dangerousgoods-policy.aspx).
    • “Prohibited Items” means any items prohibited for air transportation by any regulatory or governmental body including, for the avoidance of doubt, any items which are of a potentially dangerous nature, items the possession of which is illegal, livestock, foodstuffs and perishable items;
    • “Scheduled Time” means the agreed scheduled time where You will make the Bag available to Us at the Customer Collection Address (as set out in the Booking);
    • “Services” means accepting a Bag for carriage from You (or your agent), applying Our destination bag tag and injecting the Bag into the Airport’s baggage system on Your behalf in accordance with these Terms;
    • “Terms” means these Standard Terms and Conditions incorporating Emirates’ Conditions of Carriage for Passengers and Baggage;
    • “We”, “we”, “Our”, “our”, “Us” and “us” means Emirates; and
    • “You” and “Your” means any person who makes a Booking or any person whose Bags comprise a Booking (whether directly or indirectly).
