DUBAI, United Arab Emirates, Thursday, 12th December 2013: Emirates has celebrated the delivery of its 42nd A380 aircraft to the fleet, bringing the total fleet number to 211.
The fast-growing airline has received 11 of the giant double decker aircraft over the last year. It’s a reflection of Emirates’ commitment to increase efficiency on major routes around the world. Following a record order at the Dubai Airshow in November, the airline has 98 A380 aircraft on order.
The Dubai-based airline has expanded its A380 services in Europe, Australia and the US this year. On 2nd December an Emirates A380 service was launched to Los Angeles, and a new A380 service begins to Mauritius on 16th December. The aircraft will also be used to boost services to Zurich and Barcelona next year.
Emirates is the largest operator of A380 aircraft in the world and, at its hub at Dubai International Airport, Emirates has the only purpose-built facility for the A380 aircraft in the world. Customers can enjoy a world-class shopping and dining experience alongside direct boarding from Emirates’ exclusive First Class and Business Class lounges.
More than 18 million passengers have travelled on the Emirates A380 since it was first launched in 2008 and had the opportunity to experience its luxury interior.
Two decks offer spacious seats in Economy Class, lie-flat seats in Business Class and luxury First Class Private Suites. In total, the Emirates A380 aircraft can carry between 489 to 517 passengers depending on the configuration. Passengers in the premium cabins can socialise in the Onboard Lounge and First Class passengers can arrive at their destination feeling refreshed in one of two onboard Shower Spas.
Passengers across all cabins can enjoy up to 1,600 channels of the latest movies, TV shows and music from around the world alongside a range of games on the award-winning ice inflight entertainment system. The latest technology allows passengers to stay connected throughout the flight with high-speed Wi-Fi access and mobile phone and data services.
