|Location||Bahrain International Airport is located 6km (4 miles) northeast of Manama, the Bahraini capital, on the island of Muharraq.|
|Driving directions||From central Manama, follow King Faisal Highway (which becomes the Sheikh Isa Bin Salman Causeway, and ultimately Airport Avenue), which leads directly to the terminal.|
|Car rental||Avis, Budget, Europcar, Hertz, National, Sixt and a number of local operators are represented at the airport. Car hire desks are located in the Arrivals concourse. Women are permitted to drive in Bahrain.|
|Public transport and taxis||Bus: An hourly 24-hour service links the airport with the city's bus station from outside Arrivals. Express buses link the airport with destinations in eastern Saudi Arabia via King Fahad Causeway.|
Shuttle: Many Manama hotels offer courtesy shuttle services for their guests.
Taxi: Metered taxis (tel: (17) 782 828) are available outside Arrivals. The journey time to Manama is 10 to 20 minutes, depending on traffic, at an approximate price of 6BHD (fares are subject to additional charges listed on the airport’s website).
|Car parking||Premium (car park A) and short-term parking (car park B) is available close to the terminal, while long-term parking (car parks C, D and E) is linked to the terminal by free 24-hour shuttles. Passengers can be dropped off in front of the departures area, or picked up in front of Arrivals with waiting capped at 15 minutes (penalty charges apply thereafter). |Information and help desks||There is a customer service desk in the main arrivals concourse, after the customs area.|
|Airport Facilities||Money: There are banks with bureau de change services and ATMs at various points in the terminal building.|
Food: There are restaurants and cafés throughout Bahrain International Airport. These include pizza restaurants, fast food outlets and the ubiquitous Irish pub.
Shopping: The airport has an extensive duty-free shopping area (www.bdutyfree.com) located in the departures concourse. This offers a wide range of goods and gifts – notably gold, jewellery and electronic items – as well as local crafts. Orders can be placed online for collection at the airport. There are also bookshops at various points.
Luggage: There is no left-luggage facility at Bahrain International Airport. Lost and found enquiries should be directed to the following: items lost in the terminal (tel: (17) 321 429), luggage lost in the baggage reclaim area (tel: (17) 321 430), or possessions misplaced on the aircraft or in the customs area (tel: (17) 321 620).
Other facilities: First-aid facilities are available throughout the airport and there is a pharmacy on the first floor. A Muslim prayer room is also located on site.
|Conference and business facilities||Three premium lounges are situated in the departures area, each of which serves food and is equipped with a range of business services.Extensive meeting and conference facilities are offered at the Mövenpick Hotel Bahrain (tel: (17) 460 000; www.moevenpick-hotels.com), which is just 500 metres (550 yards) from the terminal building. A meeting room is offered free of use to hotel guests staying in groups of 15 or more.|
|Disabled facilities||The terminal is fully accessible to disabled travellers, with either lifts or ramps in place where required. Bahrain Airport Services (tel: (17) 321 444) can assist with special requests.|
|Airport hotels||There is one hotel opposite the airport site. Numerous other hotels can be found in Manama, a short drive away on the mainland. Many of these offer complimentary shuttle service to their guests.|

Guests at this 4-star hotel have the benefit of a beachside location with a private beach, as well as a range of facilities such as a spa and outdoor swimming pool. Access to the airport is relatively easy due to the hotel's situation just off the Sheikh Hamad Causeway.
