In line with international regulations, Emirates offers free baggage allowances based on either the weight or piece concept, depending on specific routes.
If your itinerary includes flights operated by other airlines, different baggage rules may apply for these flights – learn more.
The standard free baggage allowance for all other Emirates destinations (excluding North and South America) as per the weight concept is 50kg for First Class, 40kg for Business Class and 30kg for Economy Class.
The standard free baggage allowance for flights operating to or from North or South America is determined for each single piece of luggage. For piece concept journeys, total dimensions (length + width + height) of each piece must not exceed 158 cm (62”). For Economy passengers with two pieces of luggage, the total combined dimensions of both pieces should not exceed 273 cm (107”). Please check the table below for piece concept weight limitations. Customers with baggage exceeding these dimensions will be charged an additional fee. Individual items with total dimensions exceeding 203cm (80 inches) cannot be transported as checked baggage, and must be sent as cargo or freight.
For travel on Emirates to or from North and South America, the piece concept applies on the entire ticketed journey. Excess baggage will be charged at the point of baggage acceptance up to the tagged destination. If your journey involves a stopover, the excess baggage will be charged from the stopover point to the final destination at piece concept rates.
However for travel on Emirates from Australia or New Zealand to the USA which includes a sector in North or West Africa, the weight concept will apply for the entire ticketed journey.
If your travel starts in the United States and the first carrier on your booking is not Emirates, different rules may apply – learn more.
