Airport newsThere are various construction projects happening at Schiphol Airport over the coming years. Work to improve and enlarge the security area in Departures 1 has already begun; this involves relocating a number of shops in Lounge 1. A Hilton Hotel is also under construction, scheduled to open in 2015. In the same year, work will begin to extend the terminal; this should be completed in 2016.
Transfer between terminalsThere is just one terminal complex, which is split into three departure areas.
Driving directionsAmsterdam Airport Schiphol is situated off the A4 motorway, which links Amsterdam to The Hague. From Amsterdam, take the A10 ring road and merge onto the A4 in the direction of The Hague. The exit to the airport is clearly signed from this route.
Car rentalCar rental companies at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol include Avis, Budget, Enterprise, Europcar, Hertz, and National. Desks for these agencies are located in Schiphol Plaza.
Public transport and taxisBus: Public buses (tel: 0900 9292) run regularly to Amsterdam and other cities. Buses 197 and 370 (interliner express service) run to Amsterdam city center and Amsterdam Zuid. Buses depart from platform A7 in front of arrival hall 2. Shuttles: Many hotels offer free airport shuttle service to guests. The Connexxion Schiphol Hotel Service (tel: (038) 339 4771; www.airporthotelshuttle.nl) is a daily hotel shuttle service running from Amsterdam Airport Schiphol to more than 55 hotels in and around Amsterdam; purchase tickets at the Connexxion desk in arrival hall 2.
Taxi: Schiphol Travel Taxis are available outside Schiphol Plaza. The journey to central Amsterdam takes approximately 15 minutes. Taxis can be booked in advance on the airport's website.
Rail: There is a railway station in the terminal's central hall, under Schiphol Plaza; direct trains run to Amsterdam Centraal Station (travel time: 15 minutes; fare: €3.90). Night trains serve Utrecht, Amsterdam Centraal Station, Leiden, The Hague, Delft, and Rotterdam, while the reservation-only, high-speed Thalys train serves major European cities. Other international services run to Berlin, Hannover, and Leipzig. Ticket machines and desks are located in Schiphol Plaza. Car parkingTwo short-term parking lots (P1 and P2) are connected to the terminal and Schiphol Plaza by covered walkways. Long-term parking is available in an open-air parking lot (P3) situated 4 km (2.5 miles) from the terminal; a free 24-hour shuttle bus links this lot to the terminal. A VIP valet service is also available; reservations are required (tel: (020) 406 7890).
Information and help desksInformation desks are located before passport control in Schiphol Plaza, in arrival halls 2 and 3, and behind passport control in departure lounges 2 and 3. Transfer desks on the concourses offer information on transfers and connecting flights. Touchscreen kiosks located throughout the terminal provide general airport information. The Customer Contact Center (tel: (020) 794 0800) can provide further information. The Holland Tourism Information office (tel: (020) 702 6000) is situated in Arrivals 2, providing tourist information and an accommodation reservation service.
Airport FacilitiesMoney: There are numerous banks, ATMs, currency exchange machines, and bureau de change kiosks at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol.
Communications: There is a post office in departure lounge 2. Free Wi-Fi is available throughout the terminal building and there are dedicated internet workspace areas at KPN Internet Centers in departure lounges 1 and 2. Mobile telephone rental is available at the Telecom Rentcenter in Schiphol Plaza. Multimedia telephone units, which can be used for telephoning, Internet access, and SMS, are situated throughout the airport.
Food: Schiphol Airport prides itself on its culinary offerings and boasts a broad range of bars, cafés, restaurants, and brasseries, which serve everything from seafood and grilled meat to Dutch pancakes and fast food. These eateries are situated throughout the terminal, both landside and airside.
Shopping: There is a large choice of shops at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol, including a duty-free outlet and a 24-hour supermarket at Schiphol Plaza, before security, and various clothing shops, newsstands, and gift retailers after security. A duty-free pre-order and pick-up service is available online.
Luggage: Luggage lockers are situated throughout the terminal; passengers can store bags for up to 168 hours. There is also a baggage depot (tel: (020) 795 2843), which will store bags for up to one month. Open between 06:00 and 22:00 daily, it can be found in the basement between arrival halls 1 and 2. Lost items can be reported at the information desks in the departure and arrivals areas or to the dedicated lost and found line (tel: (020) 794 0800). Passengers can also fill out lost and found forms on the airport website.
Other facilities: Amsterdam Airport Schiphol has a medical center, 24-hour emergency medical services, and a pharmacy. There is a fully equipped baby room and several play areas on Holland Boulevard; baby-changing facilities are provided in the toilets. Showers can be found at the on-site Hotel Mercure Schiphol Terminal Hotel (tel: (020) 604 1339; www.hotelopschiphol.nl). A massage parlor, hairdresser, casino, and prayer room are also located in the terminal. Dedicated smoking cabins are scattered throughout the terminal. Bars such as Galaxy, Murphey's, and Cafe Amsterdam also have smoking areas. 
Conference and business facilitiesThere is a large range of dedicated business facilities at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol. The Schiphol Airport Meeting Center (tel: (020) 654 1600) has office space equipped with fax, PC, and telephone facilities, as well as a secretarial service and a conference room. The Schiphol Airport Avioport business center (tel: (020) 654 1800), which is a 10-minute walk from the terminal, is a new building with well-equipped offices and a range of leisure facilities, including a golf course. In addition, the Exchange Avenue conference center (tel: (020) 603 4607) offers six meeting rooms with capacity for up to 80 attendees. Major airlines have executive lounges, which offer basic business facilities, while the ACompany’s Airport Business Point (tel: (020) 406 9810) in arrival hall 2 is a dedicated lounge for those waiting for drivers or colleagues.
Disabled facilitiesFacilities for the disabled include automatic doors, accessible toilets, and elevators between all floors of Amsterdam Airport Schiphol. Wheelchairs are available for visitors; passengers requiring wheelchairs and special assistance should inform their airline prior to travel. ACompany (tel: (020) 601 5018) provides the Axxicom Airport Caddy service, which operates between concourses D, E, F, and G and the arrivals areas. Dedicated parking for the disabled is available in parking lots P1, P2, and P3. A bus is available on request to take disabled passengers from parking lot P3 to the terminal; passengers requiring this service should phone at least 24 hours in advance (tel: (020) 405 7900).
Airport hotelsThere are a number of hotels at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol, which are connected by either covered walkways or shuttle services. A new Hilton Hotel currently under construction at the airport is scheduled to open in 2015. Hotels can be booked online via the airport website or at the reservations desk in the baggage claim area.

Sheraton Amsterdam Hotel and Conference Center
Boasting a restaurant, café, and sports bar, the Sheraton is within the airport site and has direct access to the departures and arrivals areas. Meeting space is available for those on business.
