|Driving directions||From central Tokyo, head east/northeast on either the Higashi-Kanto Expressway or Keiyo Road, and merge onto the Shin-Kuko Expressway, which connects to the airport.|
|Car rental||Car hire companies: Japaren, Mazda, Nippon, Nissan, ORIX and Toyota each have offices in the arrivals areas of both terminals.|
|Public transport and taxis||Bus: Keisei Bus (tel: (03) 3621 2418; www.keiseibus.co.jp) runs services to a number of Tokyo destinations. The journey time into the city can be up to 90 minutes and fares start at around ¥3,000.|
Shuttle: Shuttle buses operate to Tokyo Haneda Airport, Tokyo Station, Shinjuku Station and major hotels in Tokyo, as well as many direct services to other cities such as Sendai, Utsunomiya and Omiya.
Taxi: Taxis and limousines are readily available at the airport. This is an expensive option though (fare: around ¥25,000 for central Tokyo destinations) and the travel time can be much longer than by train.
Rail: Passengers should check which terminal they require before setting off for the airport as the terminals have separate railway stations: Narita Airport Station (Terminal 1) and Airport Terminal 2 Station.Keisei Electric Railways’ (tel: (03) 3621 2242: www.keisei.co.jp) high-speed Narita Skyliner service is the fastest option between the airport and central Tokyo via a change onto Japan Railways’ (tel: (04) 7633 1630 or 7634 6008; www.jreast.co.jp) Yamanote Line at Nippori (journey time: 47 minutes; fare: ¥2,400 for the Skyliner plus ¥150 for the Yamanote Line).Japan Railways also operates the reservation-only Narita Express to central Tokyo (journey time: 56 minutes; fare ¥2,940) as well as non-reservation rapid trains that serve Tokyo and regional destinations.In addition, Keisei Electric Railways provides a direct service to Tokyo Haneda Airport (journey time: 91 minutes; fare: ¥1,740).
|Car parking||There is long and short-term parking at Tokyo Narita International Airport. Car parks P1 and P5 are situated in front of Terminal 1, while car parks P2 and P3 are outside Terminal 2.|
|Information and help desks||There are several information desks in both terminals. Tourist information counters are available on the ground floors of Terminal 1 (tel: (04) 7630 3383) and Terminal 2 (tel: (04) 7634 5877).|
|Airport Facilities||Money: Both terminals have banks, ATMs, bureaux de change and postal services.|
Food: There is a good variety of Japanese and Western restaurants at Tokyo Narita International Airport, as well as cafés, fast-food outlets and bars. There are options throughout the airport, but the majority can be found on the fourth floor of each terminal.
Shopping: There is a good choice of shops selling a range of general and specialist goods in both terminals – duty-free shopping is also available. The majority of options, which range from retailers selling Japanese arts and crafts to designer boutiques, are located on the fourth and fifth floors of Terminal 1 and the fourth floor of Terminal 2.
Luggage: Luggage storage services and luggage lockers are available in both terminals. For inquiries about lost items, contact the relevant airline or one of the airport's information desks.
Other facilities: Other facilities at Tokyo Narita International Airport include medical clinics, a dentist, baby-change facilities, nurseries, children's play areas, showers and sleeping rooms. There is even a pet hotel in Terminal 2, which offers veterinary services.
|Conference and business facilities||There is a business centre (tel: (04) 7630 0035) on the fifth floor of Terminal 1, which provides fax and photocopying facilities, internet access and meeting rooms. Many of these services are also available at various points throughout both terminals.|
|Disabled facilities||In-terminal facilities for the disabled include tactile flooring, wheelchair-accessible toilets and lowered telephones. Wheelchairs can be hired from the information counters (landside only); passengers should inform their airline of any required special assistance prior to travelling.|
|Airport hotels||There is one hotel at Tokyo Narita International Airport, with a number of other hotels nearby. Hotel reservation desks are located in the arrivals areas of Terminal 1 (tel: (04) 7633 2240) and Terminal 2 (tel: (04) 7634 6391).|
