|Airport news||Johannesburg O.R. Tambo International Airport was almost entirely redeveloped prior to South Africa’s hosting of the 2010 World Cup, including the construction of a link between the terminal buildings and a new 5,200-space parking facility.|
|Transfer between terminals||A free shuttle bus operates between the terminals and parking facilities. The terminals are situated in one large complex, enabling passengers to walk from one to the other.|
|Driving directions||From Johannesburg, take the R24 to the airport; from Pretoria, take the R21. The airport is clearly signed from these approach roads.|
|Car rental||Car rental companies Avis, Budget, Europcar, Hertz, Imperial, Khaya, National, Sizwe, and Tempest are located in the multistory parking structure opposite the domestic terminal.|
|Public transport and taxis||Bus: Magic Bus (tel: (011) 548 0822) operates scheduled bus services to Sun City and other places of interest; it has an office on the ground floor of the domestic parking structure.|
Shuttle: Airport Link (tel: (011) 794 8300; www.airportlink.co.za) and EZ Shuttle (tel: 0861 397 488; www.ezshuttle.co.za) provide door-to-door shuttle services from the airport to city destinations.
Taxi: Official taxis operate from in front of the multistory parking structure. The travel time to central Johannesburg is upwards of 30 minutes (depending on traffic conditions) and the fare is about R500.
Train: The high-speed Gautrain (tel: (0800) 428 87426; www.gautrain.co.za) runs between Johannesburg O.R. Tambo International Airport, Malboro, and Sandton. The travel time to Malboro is 10 minutes and to Sandton 15 minutes; fares to both start at R115.
|Car parking||There are several parking facilities offering short- and long-term parking, including an underground facility as well as outdoor and covered areas. A free 24-hour shuttle bus service operates between the furthest parking lots and the terminals. Valet parking, operated by Executive Carports (tel: (011) 390 2062; www.executivecarport.co.za) is also available.|

|Airport Facilities||Money: There are ATMs, banks, and bureaux de change within the terminals.|
Communications: There is an on-site post office. Mobile telephone rental is also available. Passengers can make use of paid wireless Internet access in the international departures area.
Food: There are plenty of places to eat and drink at O. R. Tambo International Airport. These outlets include cafés, juice bars, steak houses, and fast-food restaurants.
Shopping: Johannesburg O.R. Tambo International Airport has a wide variety of shops, including a duty-free mall in Terminal A. Among the specialist shops are gift retailers, bookshops, designer clothing brands, and jewelers.
Luggage: A left-luggage facility (tel: (011) 390 1804) is available on the upper level of the underground parking lot, just off the international arrivals area. Porters, who can be found in the arrivals halls, can be recognized by their bright orange uniforms and ACSA badges; tipping is recommended. Visitors should not use unauthorized porters.

|Conference and business facilities||The airport’s business center (tel: (011) 921 6262) has a range of facilities, including fax, telephone, and secretarial services. The Premier Conference Centre (tel: (011) 390 1084) in the domestic terminal offers four meeting rooms seating up to 14 attendees, a seminar facility for up to 50 guests, and a conference room for up to 120 people. Meeting facilities can also be found at some of the nearby hotels.|
|Disabled facilities||The airport is easily accessible, with elevators (two equipped with Braille signage) and ramps throughout the terminals. Disabled parking spaces are available. The free shuttle service that serves the remote parking area can accommodate passengers in wheelchairs. A golf cart service, which can accommodate disabled passengers, operates between the terminals and the car rental areas.|
