|Airport news||Hamburg Airport completed a major development program in 2009, which included construction of a new terminal, completion of a dedicated S-Bahn suburban rail connection to the city center, and development of an expanded commercial area. In 2013, a greatly expanded lounge facility was added.|
|Transfer between terminals||The terminals are linked by the Airport Plaza facility. A free shuttle bus runs between the terminals and to parking lot P6.|
|Driving directions||Hamburg Airport is situated between ring roads R2 and R3 on the B433 and is easily accessible and well-signed from central Hamburg. The A7 Autobahn provides a connection to the airport at exit 23, Schnelsen-Nord.|
|Car rental||Car rental companies at Hamburg Airport include Avis, Europcar, Hertz, Sixt, and Terstappen. Counters for these agencies are located on the ground floor of Terminal 2.|
|Public transport and taxis||Bus: Numerous HVV (tel: (040) 19449; www.hvv.de) bus services run to the city center and other points around Hamburg (fare: €3). The night bus 606 stops at the main railway station. Shuttle services to and from Bremen and several destinations in the region are also available.|
Taxi: Taxi services to central Hamburg are readily available outside both terminals. The travel time and fare vary according to the time of day, but prices generally start at around €25. Official taxis are cream in color. Rail: The S-Bahn route S1 (tel: (040) 3918 4385; www.s-bahn-hamburg.de) links Hamburg Airport directly with Hamburg’s central station (travel time: 25 minutes; fare: €3). The station is directly in front of the terminals.
|Car parking||Parking at Hamburg Airport is available at six parking lots, four of which offer short- and long-term rates close to the terminals; two are further away and cheaper and are aimed at leisure travelers. Parking can be reserved via the airport website; otherwise, an intelligent indicator system guides drivers to the nearest available spaces. Valet parking is available (tel: (040) 5131 9363).|
|Information and help desks||Airport information desks are located in Terminals 1 and 2. The Airport Office, located in the Airport Plaza on the arrivals level, provides airport information, travel tickets, event ticket sales, hotel reservations, and other services. It is open from 06:00 to 23:00 daily.|
|Airport Facilities||Money: Monetary facilities include a bank, bureau de change, and ATMs within the terminals.|
Communications: Telephones and paid Wi-Fi Internet access are available throughout the terminals. A post office is located in Terminal 2.
Food: There are many restaurants, bars, and cafés at Hamburg Airport; these can be found in the Airport Plaza and in the terminals both before and after security.
Shopping: There is a wide variety of shops (including duty-free for non-EU travelers) in both terminals and on both levels of the Airport Plaza. Among these are souvenir retailers, fashion boutiques, and bookshops.
Luggage: Advance reservations can be made for a porter service (tel: (040) 5075 2010). Luggage trolleys are available for a small deposit. There is a left-luggage facility (tel: (040) 5075 2923) in the Terminal 2 arrivals area. Lost property is handled by the Airport Office (tel: (040) 50750).
Other facilities: Hamburg Airport has a pharmacy and a Red Cross medical center. Other options include a casino area, a hairdresser, shoeshine facilities, and a casino.
|Conference and business facilities||The Airport Office (tel: (040) 50750) provides a range of business services, including fax, photocopying, and typing. Executive lounges are located on level 2 of Terminal 2. VIP services are also available (tel: (040) 5075 2012). The Airport Conference Center Mövenpick (tel: (040) 5075 3338), in Terminal 2, offers 14 meeting rooms; the Airport Conference Center Lilienthalhaus (tel: (040) 5075 2500) provides seven conference venues accommodating up to 90 attendees, with audiovisual and other equipment for rent. There is also the large Terminal Tango (tel: (040) 5075 3607) event space in the former Charter Terminal. Many of the airport hotels also offer meeting and conference facilities, notably the Radisson Blu Hamburg Airport (tel: (040) 300 3000; www.radissonblu.com), which is adjacent to the terminal complex and offers 15 meeting rooms.|
|Disabled facilities||Disabled travelers are asked to notify their airline and the airport information desk (tel: (040) 50750) of their needs prior to travel. Hamburg Airport is accessible to wheelchairs, and accessible toilets are located throughout. Parking spaces for the disabled can be found near the terminals, with disabled parking in the multistory parking garage located near the exits.
