|Airport news||The International Terminal has been upgraded to allow the Airbus A380 to serve the airport, while various internal improvements to the terminal building have also taken place. There are plans for a new domestic terminal complex.|
|Transfer between terminals||A free shuttle bus runs between the terminals; alternatively, passengers can walk between the terminals, which takes 15 minutes.|
|Driving directions||To travel to Auckland Airport by car, take Highway 1 (Southern Motorway) southbound from central Auckland towards Manukau City until the Gilles Avenue exit. From here, follow the airport signs southbound onto Highway 20 (Southwestern Motorway) before turning onto Highway 20A. The driving time to/from Auckland is about 45 minutes, while Manukau City is just 20 minutes away from the airport.|
|Car rental||Car hire companies Avis, Budget, Europcar, Hertz and Thrifty are represented at Auckland Airport. In the International Terminal, counters are located in Arrivals on the ground floor; for domestic passengers, desks are situated on the ground floor of the multi-storey car park immediately opposite Domestic Arrivals.|
|Public transport and taxis||Bus: Airbus Express (tel: (09) 366 6400; www.airbus.co.nz) provides an express bus service between Auckland Airport and the city centre (journey time: 45 minutes; fare: NZ$16), while Auckland Transport (tel: (09) 355 3553; www.maxx.co.nz) offers connections to Manukau city centre and other regional destinations.|
Shuttle: Shared-ride Super Shuttle buses (tel: (09) 522 5100; www.supershuttle.co.nz) also serve Auckland Airport: these depart from a shuttle rank outside the International Terminal. The journey time to the city centre is around 45 minutes and the fare is around NZ$30, depending on the destination.
Taxi: Taxi supplies include Alert Taxis (tel: (09) 309 2000; www.alerttaxis.co.nz), Auckland Coop Taxis (tel: (09) 300 3000; www.cooptaxi.co.nz) and Corporate Cabs (tel: (09) 377 0773; www.corporatecabs.co.nz). Taxi ranks are situated to the west of the International Terminal and in front of the Domestic Terminal. The journey time to central Auckland is about 40 minutes, and fares range from NZ$60-80, depending on the destination.
|Car parking||There are covered and uncovered car parks in front of each terminal (each within three minutes’ walk) providing both short- and long-term options. For further parking information, call Parking Services (tel: 0800 247 767). The low-cost Park & Ride car park is linked to the terminals by a 24-hour shuttle bus service. Valet parking services are available through some airlines.|
|Information and help desks||There are various help points throughout both terminals. Blue Coat ambassadors also provide passenger assistance from help desks throughout the terminals.Auckland Tourism iSite information centres (tel: (09) 275 6467) can be found in the arrival areas in both terminals. These desks are open for all arriving flights.|
|Airport Facilities||Money: Banks with bureau de change facilities are located throughout the International Terminal. ATMs can be found in both terminals.|
Communications: Internet kiosks are situated at various points within the terminals, while paid-for Wi-Fi access is available at designated hotspots. Coin-, card- and credit card-operated telephones can be found throughout the airport. There are various post boxes within the terminals and stamps can be purchased from Relay newsagents or the duty-free collection point in the International Terminal.
Food: There are numerous restaurants, cafés and bars at the airport, most of which are in the Jean Batten Food Court on the first floor of the International Terminal. Options in both terminals range from fast-food outlets and juice bars to eateries serving Asian cuisine.
Shopping: There are more than 75 shops situated throughout Auckland Airport, including duty-free shopping. The majority of the options can be found on the first floor of the International Terminal, with specialist shops selling gifts, watches and confectionary. The Domestic Terminal has a more limited selection of newsagents and clothing accessory retailers.
Luggage: Left-luggage facilities are offered by the Auckland Tourism iSite information centres (tel: (09) 275 6467) and Smart Carte desks (09) 257 3322). Lost property services are available from the Airport Operations desk (tel: (09) 256 8813). There is also hand luggage storage available after security. Luggage trolleys are free of charge.
Other facilities: Among the other facilities at Auckland Airport are free showers, telephones for first aid, a medical centre, a chapel and a Muslim prayer area. Nurseries, a children's play area and playgrounds are options for those with children. Passengers with some time to spare can head to the airport's museum or play a round of mini golf on a nearby course.
|Conference and business facilities||There are two conference rooms on the first floor of the International Terminal (tel: (09) 256 8782) and a further four rooms in the Air New Zealand section of the Domestic Terminal (tel: (09) 256 8924). All international airlines provide VIP lounges. Laptop computer connections and paid-for Wi-Fi internet access are available at numerous locations in both terminals.The nearby Novotel Auckland Airport hotel (tel: (09) 257 7200; www.novotel.com) has a further 10 meeting rooms.|
|Disabled facilities||Facilities for the disabled include automatic doors, lifts, accessible toilets and showers, as well as ATMs with Braille keys. There are also disabled parking spaces in front of the terminals and in the airport car parks.
