In 2012, Roger Federer defeated home favorite John Isner to win a record fourth title at Indian Wells, while in the women’s event, Victoria Azarenka, fresh from her maiden Grand Slam victory at the Australian Open, defeated former champion Maria Sharapova in a one-sided final.
