Emirates and Thailand Open Sponsorships

The Thailand Open, founded in 1965, was sanctioned by the Asian Tour before it became a OneAsia Tour event in 2010. The OneAsia Tour is a joint venture between the PGA Tour of Australasia, the China Golf Association, the Japan Golf Tour, the Korean Golf Association, and the Korean PGA.

The Thailand Open is an annual event held in early to mid-August at the Suwan Golf and Country Club, Bangkok. With a prize fund of US$1 million, the Thailand Open attracts a truly global field while maintaining a strong Southeast Asia presence. The 2012 title was taken by South Korean Kim Bi-o, who registered an impressive score of 18 under par.

Emirates, who is an official partner of the Thailand Open, use the Bangkok-based tournament to connect with present and potential customers whilst also profiling the Bangkok route which is currently operated by the Emirates Airbus A380, the airline’s flagship carrier, and the Boeing 777.

Emirates also sponsors The Ryder Cup, UBS Hong Kong Open, Dubai World Championship, BMW International Open 2012, Japan Open, WGC-HSBC Champions, Emirates Australian Open Championship, Australian PGA Championship, Austrian Golf Open, Avantha Masters, Ballantine’s Championship, Barclays Singapore Open, Maybank Malaysian Open, and Alstom Open de France.
