The first European Tour event to be held in Korea, the Ballantine’s Championship has established itself as an important event on world golf’s calendar since its inauguration in 2008.
As official airline of the Ballantine’s Championship, Emirates plays a key role in the tournament’s success and has hosted a number of events, including pro-am tournaments and a longest-drive competition. Throughout the Ballantine’s Championship, Emirates also provides its renowned hospitality, inviting a number of high-profile partners from the Korean travel industry and selected media guests.
The 2012 Ballantine’s Championship at Blackstone Golf Club in Icheon was won by Austrian Bernd Wiesberger, who produced a dominant performance to finish five shots clear of second place player Richie Ramsay of Scotland.
Emirates’ sponsorship of the Ballantine’s Championship highlights the airline’s status as a leading supporter of golf across the world and provides a platform to promote its flagship A380 route out of Seoul, which was launched in 2009.
Emirates also sponsors the Ryder Cup, UBS Hong Kong Open, Dubai World Championship, BMW International Open 2012, Japan Open, WGC-HSBC Champions, Emirates Australian Open Championship, Australian PGA Championship, Austrian Golf Open, Avantha Masters, Barclays Singapore Open, Maybank Malaysian Open, Thailand Open, and Alstom Open de France.
