Emirates has been the official airline of the Austrian Open since 2005. The event, held at the Diamond Country Club in Atzenbrugg, was established in 1990 and was a European Tour event for seven years before joining the Challenge tour in 1997. With an increase in prize money, the event returned to the European Tour in 2006 and the Austrian Open now provides Emirates with a platform to present its high-quality services to an international audience.
Home favorite Bernd Wiesberger secured his second title of the season in thrilling fashion at the 2012 event. The 26-year old from Vienna became only the second Austrian after 2006 champion Markus Brier to win his national open after posting a closing round of 65, which culminated in a 25-foot birdie putt on the final green, sparking scenes of wild celebration.
In addition to the Austrian Open, Emirates is a proud supporter of a number of other golf events around the world, including the Ryder Cup, UBS Hong Kong Open, Dubai World Championship, BMW International Open 2012, Japan Open, WGC-HSBC Champions, Emirates Australian Open Championship, Australian PGA Championship, Avantha Masters, Ballantine’s Championship, Barclays Singapore Open, Maybank Malaysian Open, Thailand Open, and Alstom Open de France.
