The Emirates Cup is an annual two-day preseason football tournament hosted by the Emirates-sponsored English Premier League club Arsenal FC. The tournament brings over 100,000 people to the Emirates Stadium over the course of a weekend to watch some of the world’s best teams go head to head for the Emirates Cup trophy.
Since the inaugural Emirates Cup in 2007, clubs such as Emirates-sponsored AC Milan, Paris St Germain, Hamburger SV, and hosts Arsenal have been pitted against the likes of Valencia, Inter Milan, and Juventus, giving fans the chance to watch some of the world’s best players.
The reigning Emirates Cup champions, New York Red Bulls, became the first non-European team to win the trophy in 2011, with three-time winners Arsenal and 2008 champions Hamburger SV winning the honors in the previous four Emirates Cup tournaments.
Having celebrated its fifth anniversary in 2011, the Emirates Cup helps to further increase brand awareness and understanding of the Emirates product offering while forming deeper connections with Arsenal fans by enhancing their experience.
Due to the London Olympic Games, the Emirates Cup was not held in 2012. However, the tournament will return to the Emirates Stadium in the summer of 2013.
Emirates’ impressive soccer sponsorship portfolio includes a number of high-profile teams and events, including Asian Football Confederation, Arsenal FC, AC Milan, Paris Saint-Germain, Hamburger SV, Real Madrid, Olympiacos FC, Arsenal Soccer Schools Dubai, and Zain Saudi Professional League.
