A double celebration as Emirates welcomes its 40th and 41st A380s to the fleet

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates, 28th November 2013 - It was a double celebration at Emirates today as the fast-growing airline took delivery of two new A380 aircraft, its 40th and 41st, bringing the total fleet count to 210.

The new aircraft will be part of Emirates’ strategy to increase efficiency on major routes around the world, having expanded its A380 services to Europe, Australia and the US this year. There are further plans to deploy the giant double decker on popular routes over the coming months, including between Dubai and Los Angeles from 2nd December.

Emirates is the largest operator of A380 aircraft in the world. This month the airline made history once more by ordering a further 50 A380 aircraft at the Dubai Airshow which, together with its Boeing 777X order, was the largest aircraft order ever made in the history of aviation.

The USD 23 billion A380 purchase means Emirates now has 99 A380 aircraft yet to be delivered. The order not only demonstrates the growing demand for the superjumbo on its busiest routes, but also Emirates’ commitment to providing the ultimate passenger comfort.

More than 18 million passengers have travelled on the Emirates A380 since it was first launched in 2008 and had the opportunity to experience its luxury interior.

Two decks offer spacious seats in Economy Class, lie-flat seats in Business Class and luxury First Class Private Suites. In total, the Emirates A380 aircraft can carry between 489 to 517 passengers depending on the configuration. Passengers in the premium cabins can socialise in the Onboard Lounge and First Class passengers can arrive at their destination refreshed in one of two onboard Shower Spas.

Passengers across all cabins can enjoy up to 1,600 channels of the latest movies, TV shows and music from around the world alongside a range of games on the award-winning ice inflight entertainment system. The latest technology allows passengers to stay connected throughout the flight with high-speed Wi-Fi access and mobile phone and data services.
