As part of Emirates’ sponsorship of the US Tennis Association (USTA) which saw the airline become the title sponsor of the Emirates Airline US Open Series, Emirates also became the Official Airline of the US Open in 2012.
After two weeks of memorable tennis action, Andy Murray won his first Grand Slam, defeating defending Champion Novak Djokovic in an epic five set encounter while in the women’s draw, Serena Williams stormed to her fourth US Open title.
Emirates celebrated its partnership with the US Open on “Emirates Day,” with three in-stadia programmes for tennis fans to win a trip to Dubai. Additionally, Fan Cam technology captured a 360-degree photo of the Emirates Day crowd who were able to find and tag themselves on the online image.
Emirates also hosted a number of guests in the Emirates Airline Luxury Suite including celebrities such as Jordin Sparks, Eva Longoria and John McEnroe who enjoyed the tennis action from one of the most exclusive locations within Arthur Ashe Stadium.
Elsewhere, Emirates gave fans the opportunity to partake in one of the most iconic US Open traditions, usually reserved for winning players who hit balls into the stands to celebrate victory. Using state-of-the art technology, visitors to the Emirates Airline Ball Flight Experience were simulated onto court level of Arthur Ashe Stadium and used a 3D racquet to hit virtual balls out of Ashe Stadium to one of Emirates’ global destinations. Participants were then able to share their experience at a Social Media Visualizer, connecting tennis fans worldwide.
Emirates’ tennis sponsorship portfolio also includes the Emirates Airline US Open Series, Dubai Tennis Championships, BNP Paribas Open, Internazionali BNL d'Italia and the Rogers Cup.
